Hello all~ just trying to find a healthier me and good balance between work/children/workouts.
I have tried every other time imaginable and finally was more consistent when I worked out in the short span of time between home and dinner after work! emoticon

It's time...

This week I'm going to step it up. I work out every night but I don't feel I'm working out hard enough...so this week, I'm going to start using my DVDs again. I have Jillian Michaels 30-day shred and a total body work out by Bob Harper. Both are challenging workouts and run 30-45 minutes. I have several other DVDs too so I have plenty to watch to change up my routine.

I want to start with 3 times per week. I think that's a doable commitment.

It's not about how bad you want it...it's about how hard you're willing to work for it

Pam, I have a desk job also and plenty of time to work out at night. I just can't sit down and rest when I get home from the busy day. If I can maintain some consistency, the momentum can keep me going with exercise I normally do, which is walking as of right now. George, I have not heard of that site, but will check it out. To have people to hike with would be great as a change from walking in the neighborhood. Walked the dogs this morning for 2 mi.

You're welcome Pam!

It sounds to me like a hiking group is needed by you. You could always start your own if you don't mind paying the bucks to be able to start your own groups. You might be surprised how many people come out of the woodwork to join and you could always charge $1 admission dues to cover your costs or look for a sponsor, a local chiropractor or health facility, etc.

George that's a great site!! Unfortionatly everything close to me was mainly book reading clubs, I love reading but not what I want. That also tells you pretty much how it is around me. There was one running group but still a little far and I'm not a runner. I did the distance for 50 miles and got a lot more stuff I like but not sure yet if I want to go that far.
I will deffinitly have that site bookmarked.
Thank you!
Pam

Welcome to the team!

I've found some great ways to get in exercise, have fun and meet new people all at the same time. I belong to www.meetup.com and have joined several local hiking groups. You can also find biking groups, fitness groups etc. One group I belong to does yoga, salsa dancing, zumba and trampoline aerobics on a weekly basis.

I'm more of a traditionalist so I do the hikes but have recently started going back to the health club rather than just donating to it every month. After 6 weeks I see and feel a difference and now I feel bad if I miss a workout day. You have to do what works best for you though.

George

I have been doing the same thing, I come home from work and sit and watch t.v. and I don't really have a stressful job! Just very boring! And I sit most of the day. I get off work at 3:30 and usually home by 4 so I have TONS of time to workout!

We can do this!!

Great challenge. Walk my 2 beagles or go to the gym is what I need to do. Have been coming home from work and my new thing is taking a nap to deal with the work stress. From sunny California and have no excuse - it does not get dark until 8pm. This is a good incentive to keep on track. Thanks for this challenge. I am so ready for it.
