I lived over in South Norwood for about a year. We were just up the road from Crystal Palace stadium.

Hi all.

What's to say or know? I live in SE London, in Penge. I am a single mum with 2 teenage boys and 1 adult young man who lives with his fiancee a few miles from me.

I saw my rheumatologist the other week and was very dismayed to see that my weight had crept up by 20kg over the previous 9 months. And, my blood pressure was borderline high for the first time in my life. I'm already on medications for arthritis and depression and a minor kidney trouble, I don't want the GP to try to put me on anything else!

So here, I am. All told, I need to lose just over 100 pounds to be at a healthy weight. I'm breaking it down though and focusing right now on making healthier food choices.

I've tried losing weight in the past, and always got discouraged because I would be doing all the right things, but not losing for months at a time. This time around, if I lose it's a good thing, but my focus has to be just on making healthy choices about what I eat.

Exercise may come in time, but here I am just focusing on walking. My goal now is 1000 steps a day. I've been meeting it pretty consistently, and figure when I start hitting 2000 I will move my goal up to 2000 steps a day.
