Welcome. I am more than "slightly older" but here on SP it doesn't make a ha'penth of difference what age you are. I'm sure you will find support here especially when you start to blog. Also joining a team helps with support.

My advice is to have a play with the nutrition tracker and get to know how to use it. When I first joined I didn't change my activity at all, but by tracking my food I managed to lose around half a stone.
You can do it!
