Brilliant - well done!
I think taking ownership of your own food and exercise makes so much sense. I used to mix and match diets and then assume that they didn't work! Logging things in the nutrition tracker was the turning point for me.
Good Luck and keep up the good work.

Thanks for your welcome. I am finding it so liberating and tracking is not the bind I thought it was. I cant beleive hoq many calories are in some foods that SW wereencouraging me to eat. I feel like I have a new world to explore and loving it already. I can eat some naughty things and not feel like I have sinned! SW has set the healthy bug in me and for that I will always be grateful, its made the switch to SP much easier. I made my first smoothie this morning and it was yummy - on SW its a definate no no

emoticon and welcome.

I used to follow Slimming World but I am so pleased that I came across SP. I can track my weight and fitness. I can see exactly what I am eating in percentages and once I have entered items into my favourites it takes very little time each day to keep my trackers going.

Everyone is different, I know, but personally I found sticking to low carbs or high protein or certain types of foods on different days or following strict menu plans just far too restrictive for me.

I am using SP to educate myself so that I understand exactly what I am putting into my body.

It is early days for me yet but I am learning.

Good luck and emoticon for now.

Foxlee go to low carb teams they can give you the % of the carbs, protein, fat and fiber..I'm not sure as its still confusing to me living in holland and how to measure the fat etc.. So i just gone very low carb and occasionally more.. but i have just learnt that heavy metals in your blood and bones etc can better be transported out with starch from oats or potatos so I'm glad i havent excluded them yet.. I only eat potato's cold as the research advised...On my page you can find the low carb teams that are active some are not so active so check them out..
I don't use the tracker on spark as they do not have a really low carb advice.. so i have a paleo tracker i signed up for just because it gives the exact amount you are eating in carbs, fiber protein, and fat.. So then i can see what is helping the weight come off.. but i am not paleo, its just very useful and accurate..
success Tisha

Welcome to the team : )
SP gives you a recommended level of carbs to lose weight, so if you just start tracking your food with the nutrition tracker you'll soon figure out what kind of eating works for you and what doesn't.

Hello foxlee,
here is a recent post i wrote on low carb team and managing diabetes..
I've just lost the desire to snack and rummage and crave food in the evenings, which has been a habit for many years....
just by eating more fat and no wheat.. sounds strange but it works..
i can munch or have a drink but its not out of boredom or habitude anymore so i dont even think on it anymore..
I've lost 10 kilo's in 4 weeks, not that that is what my plan was no!!!
I wanted and still want to get off my med's, so from research started high fat diet..
Since i live in holland i started drinking half fat milk as it wasnt possible to get full fat then and margarine and halvarine etc and the meat here has always been sold without the fat on it..So I wasnot eating fat foods for years..
When i became diabetic they gave me a high wheat diet as i only occasionally ate bread, and skimmed milk and anything and everything light sweeteners etc..
I started putting more weight on, no matter what i did, exercise, drink loads of water, eat so- called healthy etc etc..

I did a research and listened to alot of Dr and Scientists Naturapaths for a few months .. from them i learnt that fat is what is missing in our diet so I did a turnaround in a day.. bought real butter, and milk from healthfood store.. turkish full fat yogurt.. and my foster son had bought me meat with the bones and fat on from rotterdam..
So i started, with broth with the meat, fat, and bonesstraight away i felt different, included iodine and fish oil was already getting vit B12 shots.. then started cooking with coconut oil... it gets hot very quick so have to adjust timing but food tastes great..butter on my veges..no pasta no bread,no rice,..I thought i would be missing them but NO.... I dont miss them and i feel good and my brain works better aswell... occasionally i will have rice crackers but i do not exclude rice completely i know i will make it sometimes.. but its not a staple anymore...
I blend nuts in a green or fruit smoothie... i juice leafy greens a few times a week, or add them straight to a smoothie.. ( My dietrician is not happy with my choice to go on this diet; but because i lose weight she told me to continue until the next check up..also from health care simular to NHS, but we pay here in holland)

I'm surprised that i lost the weight and am still losing.. but its a plus and hopefully when i go next month for my 3 month check for BS I will be able to reduce my med's
But the big surprise to me was that i would go from 6pm till the morning without even feeling hungry or having a craving for something..Just like the research suggested..( i also feel full, not hungry)
So now i'm a firm believer and the man( dont remember he's name) that created the diet of less fat in the 70's which he suggested was giving people heart problems admitted a few years ago that he got it wrong.. he didnot test or experiment he just guessed that fat that was creating high cholesterol and heart desease..
Now they have discovered that fat is necessary and is not the culprit of high cholesterol...wheat is more the culprit... so sugars created from that causing all types of problems in our bodies function..
My DD still has a few problems with needing a night snack but she was on soya milk her whole life with milk intolerance and allergies.. which now has been discovered that soya milk is also not digested properly in our body.. so can create auto-immune desease so she has a long healing process to travel...but she also has benefits from this way of eating...
Hope you get something out of this..
Tisha

Hi everyone, I decided to join Spark people as I need a change from SW. Fed up with getting the highs and lows of eating too many carbs and not seeing results on scales, just eating too much. Also feeling deprived of things I love/ social events. Got about 3 stone to lose. Never done calorie monitoring before. Ideally want low carb diet as think that will help the cravings. Can anyone recommend the right % of carbs?
