emoticon Nan emoticon We know it's hard, I'm sure almost all of us can relate to your issues with food. You can control it and you will feel so much better, I know it! Best of luck to you always! emoticon

Hi Nan, good to meet you.
I'm new to Spark people, but I've tried losing weight many times before too, sometimes with weight watchers. I can relate your comment about comfort eating and triggers. For me it's frustration about my health. I can't say what would help you, but it has helped me to do two things.

One is to carve out time just for me - something relaxing and self indulgent like a long soak in the bath, or yoga stretching, relaxation. To begin with I'd do that as well as comfort eat, but as I became less stressed I needed to comfort eat less. Do you do things that are relaxing and just for you?

Secondly, If I was going to eat a snack I'd just get on and eat, no guilt allowed!!, but something quick, healthy with protein and a good strong flavour, filling - tuna and sweetcorn or sardines and cucumber on a ryvita maybe. With an olive on top. Things I enjoy. The strong flavour helped me get over the sugar cravings, I needed to eat less at meals. Many sweet things taste too sweet now.

Maybe you already tried this. These two things helped me stop putting on more weight whilst I was bedbound, otherwise I would have eaten for England.

Best of luck with losing weight this time, I think you'll do it! emoticon

Hi I am Nan (59) from Fife in Scotland.
I ave re-joined Sparkpeople for the last time. I have been on and off here more times than I can remember. Recently it has been an effort to last even 2 weeks without falling off the wagon. Trouble is I comfort eat. Bury myself in sugar every time the going gets rough.
Boredom at work is a trigger and I cannot just get up and walk away. (not for another 6 months when I retire)
Frustration at home is the main other trigger. We lost dad around a year ago and mum is not dealing with it. I try my best but some times it is not enough but rather than make that worse, you git it I eat.
