SP is set to loose anything over 1/2 lb a week but you should not loose more then 2lbs

So well done on the 3lbs.

Hi there, that is all very true, and thank you for taking the trouble to write.. yes, 3lbs is a good number and I should be grateful it is lost not put on... I admire you for keeping on going when you have hit a plateau, it must be very hard to stay motivated. I am sure we all hit that plateau at some point or other maybe several times so it is helpful to know other people hit struggling times during their weight loss journey as well.. I appreciate your comments and hope that you start losing again soon and reach your goal. All the best, Sara

Yes thanks for this, that's very helpful, I am not sure about lean muscle though I have noticed that I am actually getting some definition in my calves now and my ankles are not cankles any more so hey, maybe I am being a bit down on myself by fixing on the weight loss thing.. I am just not used to all this muscle/starvation mode/calorie upping stuff... I need to do more reading into all this really as it is not as simple as eat less lose weight!

Remember that if you are exercising then you are probably converting fat into lean muscle. Using lean muscle then burns more calories than fat does so in the end lean muscle helps us lose weight even if the conversion time seems to stall weight loss.

First of all, Google '3 lbs of fat' and see just how much that really is.
Second of all, get rid of that word 'only'. I've been stuck on a plateau or gaining for the last 6 months, I would give ANYTHING to have lost 'only' 3 lbs.
Third, just relax. At least you're losing, and the slower you lose the more likely you are to keep the weight off. There's no use dropping a stone in two weeks just to gain back 2 because you can't maintain that level.

Hi, I have been on 1200 calories for a month and have been religiously weighing my food and not cheating, recording every single thing I have eaten, and have lost only three pounds! I have taken up running on my treadmill and do twenty minutes two or three times a week, other than that I am fairly sedentary at work. given that I used to eat about 1200 calories a meal I am really surprised I am not losing weight faster to be honest... I am trying to stay positive but the lack of weight loss is getting me down as it has been hard going for a whole month and I am not feeling any results.. any suggestions anyone?
