Hi everyone,

My name is Lynda. I was diagnosed with moderate to severe AS about a year ago. This was after almost 20 years of doctors telling me that they didn't know what was wrong with me, asking me if I had been in a car accident, and pretty much putting me on a pill until it got better. Until the next flare up, anyway.

Since my diagnosis, I have had to change a few things about fitness. I was practicing Olympic weight lifting for a while, but the doctor thought it would be a bad idea to continue it. But hiking makes my back feel way better, even better than walking, so I started hiking, though still a lot less than I want to.

The meds help too. I have read forums where people have been able to manage without meds, but I had to skip Humira on doctors orders a few months back and if I forget the Celebrex, I start to feel it. I also would swing my legs to the side before meds, which my boyfriend called "walking like a penguin".

I recently was diagnosed with UC related to the AS. That has been interesting.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and find a place where people are going through similar things.
