Oh what a coooool name you got! I love it!

I wanted to say hello to you too.
As Mark mentioned - consider a physiotherapist.
You wont need a an insurance. Having a 30 minutes personal instruction will cost you about 20 to 30 $ depending where you live.
I think its important to see a pt on a regulary base cause she/he can adjust your exercise.
Regulary base means - all two or three month maybe ;-)
An Example: Mine told me i was in a hyperlordosis while exercising. This caused me lot of pain i didnt realize what was it from.
i often pay her by myself because incurance doesnt cover it all ;-)

Check out some excercises you like - may it be dancing, yoga, walking, playing volleyball (very good for as :-) ), badminton.... etc. so you *love* doing it. This is another important step in setting up a regular program.
Have a nice week!

Thank you for your response! Physical therapy is not an option nor is a doctor. I try to maintain good exercise and eating habits to combat things until I have health insurance again !

Hello Tiffany, Welcome to Sparks and to the team. Exercises and diet can help relive your pain, I would suggest starting with Physical Therapy so that your exercise program will not cause you more problems. Diet can also help. I also hope that you have a very good doctor and if not seek one out.

Hello everyone! I am new to SparkPeople (thanks to my amazing older sister, who introduced me).

She suggested I look for a team of fellow AS people and here you are :)

My name is Tiffani and I was diagnosed in 2008 with AS, just after my 18th birthday. At the time, I had mild chronic pain that I figured was normal. In the last 4 years, due to poor eating habits and high stress, I've found my symptoms have increased immensely.

I now suffer with almost immobilizing pain in my hips and back, despite my 12 hours of labor work a day. I'm hoping that getting my eating and exercising regulated will help even out these flair ups so that I can go back to living the fullest! I'm hoping that finding people who can relate will help me stop feeling like everyone thinks I am making it up. It is a struggle.

Thanks for reading this! I've never posted on a forum before, this just seems perfect to me! emoticon
