Hi Noni,
Welcome to the Team! Wow, didn't realize when reading the medication thread that you had just been diagnosed.
Sorry. Hope you didn't think that I was being tough.
Sure you know that a positive attitude helps with all health issues.
You must be in a spin with this medical news. And you are certainly entitled to a long wallow of self pity!

But then snap out of it!

Hope the medication gives you some relief. I'm new also to the injection thing, but have been told by folks here and elsewhere that it can be life changing. So I'm being hopeful and patient today.

I was diagnosed with "arthritis" in my 20's and then specifically with AS in my late 30's. OK I'm really old.... in my late 40's now.

At least now that you have a name for it, the Rheumatologist knows what to fight!

P.S. I have family in C'ville and Ruckersville.

Hi everybody! My name's Noni. I was just diagnosed with AS. This morning, actually. I've been in almost constant pain for most of my adult life, really, but the last few years were really bad. I was going to see a chiropractor 2 times a week just to ease the pain a little! Finally my new GP suggested I go see a rheumatologist (after only one session.. my old GP who had been treating me since I was six never mentioned it) and he diagnosed me with AS. I'm going to start Enbrel, provided my insurance will cover it.

To tell the truth, I'm kind of scared. I can't wait to finally be pain free for the first time in... I can't even remember. But the idea of giving myself a shot once a week for the rest of my life gives me chills. Any comforting words for a newbie? Anyone out there have suggestions for things I can do that might help ease the pain better than my 6 daily Aleve? I look forward to learning and growing with everyone.
