Getting back on track? Well that's something I had to very recently do myself. I'd lost about 20 lbs last spring, and then I sat around all summmer and ate. I gained it all back plus an additional 10! So I decided I had to make some SERIOUS changes. The biggest thing I've done so far, besides returning to the gym, is to think about what my trigger foods are.

I am a binge eater. I can eat super well all day long, and then I'll come home from work in the evenings, and just binge on cookies or popcorn with butter or cheetos or whatever. If I don't have it in the house on my way home from work, I'll stop and pick up whatever I'm craving.

Popcorn is my absolute FAVORITE food, and I have a very hard time just eating a "reasonable" amount of it. It's very easy for me to pop a huge bowl of it with the air popper and then slather it with butter, and that Orville Redenbacher's popcorn topping! (That stuff is so evil, but soooo yummy!) After I binge on that for a while it's like I go on a rampage for everything else I listed above.

So about two weeks ago, I threw my popcorn maker in the garbage. I'm not such a huge fan of microwave popcorn, so the problem lies within the popcorn maker. I knew I wouldn't be able to just hide it in the garage or something...I actually had to get rid of it. Put it in the trash. This has been a MAJOR step for me. Between doing that, and eliminating all the other "junk" foods from my place, I've managed to drop 5 lbs in the past two weeks! Yay! Every time I get that urge to mindlessly snack or to pick up something ridiculous, I think about how God gave me the power to throw that popcorn maker in the garbage! I focus on that! If I can throw that beloved thing away, I can resist the temptation to binge eat. I admit, it isn't easy, but it's a drastic change for me...one that I hope will yield good results!

"Insanity" is doing the same thing the same way and expecting different results.

Hey Phyllis!! So glad to have you! You're an inspiration! I've been "stuck" at this same weight for a few months, basically because I haven't been trying very hard! I want to get my weight down and try to run a half marathon in May though!! So thanks so much for sharing your success!!! I NEEDED to hear that it IS possible to lose this baggage!

Welcome to our fledgling team!!
