Yesh, don't deprive - treat yourself in small amounts! A lot of times I only crave something if I had forbidden myself to eat it. If I allow myself a little here and there, I stop craving it so much emoticon

You know that is the hardest part for me. In the past if I was on a diet it meant depriving myself of all the bad foods that I enjoyed so much. But now with my new outlook on getting healthy I don't feel that so much. I still struggle with cravings but writing down what I eat has helped. Thanks so much for the encouragement.

Thanks for the encouragement. I have to keep telling myself that it is a lifestyle change and it really does help. I have found that tracking what I eat has helped me tremendously. I am glad I stumbled onto Sparks.

Glenda, baby steps. Think of this as a lifestyle change, not a diet and, certainly, not a punishment. Ir you find it difficult to do it all at once, get your eating under control and then work on the exercise. Or vice versa. You don't have to do it all at once. You can do it!

Hi Glenda! Whatever you do, don't beat yourself up if you eat a little bit more than planned! This is a lifelong journey, and small changes done slowly will add up over time. Make sure that anything you are doing, you are willing to do for the rest of your life. So no giving up chocolate or any of your favorite foods - just enjoy in moderation. You can do this!

My name is Glenda. I am a grandmother of 7 & a mother of 4. I have been trying for a long time to lose weight that I have gained over the last 10 years. I would get the exercise part down but overeat. But this time I am committed to do all the right things even if it it takes longer than I want.
