Kudos on not needing the cane now that your PT is showing results!

Disability does stink. I was on it for over 20 years before "retirement" and hated it. Suspect others here would say "I'll second that emotion". It's hard to balance accepting limits with adjusting or creating new goals. But that can be a real help in overcoming some of the depression.

They say fibro is hereditary and i believe it! My mom has had it since a teenager and mine showed up when i was 18 after a car accident that also ruined my back. Between the two and depression i am disabled and hate it. I am going back to physical torture (therapy) tomorrow its been a few months and it hurts but it helps in the long run, they got me off my cane i was on for 4 years!
