Welcome and Congratulations on the weight loss!!! That's a big achievement. You sound like you have a wonderful plan for success. I know how it is about not working. I haven't worked since August of 29. I'm still not used to it. My kids are 19 and 14 so they are still at home, which kind of makes things nice that I can try to make up for lost time of me being at work. Congratulations on being a chef. I have worked in kitchens all my life but I'm far from a chef. I admire you. Good luck on your journey.

Hi, my name is Barbara. I am 47 years old and very overweight. I started exercise and diet 3 weeks ago with the assistance of a wellness center at my doctors office. I fell on my basement steps on Easter Sunday and had to cease exercise ( although I consider getting around on crutches exercise ). I injured my ankle and have spent a lot of time on the couch propping it up. I return to water aerobics on wednesday and some hand bike for cardio. I was impressed with myself when I went to the doctor today and learned I have lost 8 pounds in the last 3 weeks. My diet has always been fairly healthy I have been working on decreasing the sweets and increasing exercise. My fibro has made the exercise a huge challenge, as you well know. I have had to quit working because my body cannot handle the abuse of the strenuous work ( I am a trained and educated chef ). I do miss working. My children are grown so I don't have the stressors of raising them I do however have the stressors that continue with 2 starting college this year. I look forward to the support I will get from Spark and its members as I continue my journey to health and wellness. My goal is to lose 80 pounds, which is now 72 pounds, getting healthier so I can get rid of my diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol, which in turn will allow me to reduce the amount of medication I have to take and ( hopefully ) make my fibro symptoms lessen in their severity.
