I know that I really started losing weight when I figured out that I didn't have to give up my foods, I just had to cut them in half (or fourths). Also, I found exercises that we fun for me. I'll walk on the treadmill because I can read, and I got a Zumba video that is really fun. It's small changes. emoticon

I agree that slow wins the race, and although I am not too far away from my goals, I worry about maintenance. Tineka, I feel ya on the foods thing! I've been experimenting like crazy in the kitchen the past month. I found that vegan and vegetarian recipes tend to have less processed stuff and fat in them and many taste good. There is a super easy recipe out there for "cookies" I like to make when everyone else is enjoying summer treats. It uses oatmeal, banana, applesauce instead of sugar, and dried fruit (or chocolate chips). Anyhow it's quick, easy, and actually really good. The first time I made a batch I ate almost a dozen of them right away. I wasn't happy that I overate, but I wasn't fuming because they were void of sugar.
My biggest lesson lately is recognizing small wins! I think the pedometer is a great idea Mommav8808. I would like to get one myself

Hi Tineka,

Well you already took the first step... you're here. :o)

Remember, losing weight and getting healthy should be done slowly. I always say slow and steady wins the race. How about going for walks? Maybe get a pedometer as motivation to see how many steps you take each day, track it, and try to get more steps in. You'll be surprised how quickly they can add up. I actually started a 10,000 steps a day challenge in my office and have lots of websites that I got info from. I'll be happy to pass it along if you're interested.

Hello, my name is Tineka and I am a 31 yr old mother of two. I've always been the "fat one" and I'm tired of it. I want to love shopping for clothes rather than feeling anxiety and depressed because I hate the way everything looks on me. I'm 5.5 and 242 lbs. My biggest issue is my inability to give up my favorite foods and exercising!! HELP!
