Hi all! My name is Lisa, and I have a 2 1/2 year old son named Jacob. I am 42, and am about 40 lbs overweight. According to my BMI calculator, I should weight around 138 (right in the middle of the healthy range), and I'm currently at 176. I have gone up and down in weight for the past 12 years. I have found when I'm active and exercising, I not only weight less, but feel better. I struggle with chronic back pain that is quickly resolved by exercise.

I work from home, and my son is in daycare for now. I was working part time, between 20 and 30 hours a week, but now am working full time as my husband is out of work for the moment. My husband and I recently moved from SC to NC, and are still getting settled in. I'm looking for support and love the spark people challenges.

Jacob is a normal, active toddler. He brings so much joy to our lives. I love playing at the playground with him, jumping in leaves, and mostly just being able to do what he wants. When I have bouts of back pain, it makes it hard to do anything at all, let alone play outside or even sit and play trains without discomfort. I want to stay healthy and be able to play with him - so I'm focusing my goal of health not just for me, but to be able to be with him for a long time. I would love to have another child, and would also love to lose some of this weight before getting pregnant again.

Hi everyone! I am Chelsie. I am a 25 year old single mom to a very energetic 4 year old named Jaxson. I work full time in the Army. I really need to drop the weight that I am carrying around, my carrer depends on it. I packed on the pounds after I came back from overseas and got divorced. I slipped into a mild depression and have been trying my hardest to keep my head above water and make the best for me and my son. I just really need some support!

Hello, My name is Sara, I am a 28 year old work at home mom with a nearly 2 year old daughter name Charis (Keriss). My husband, ironically enough, is a personal trainer and he works long hours, so for the most part I am alone with her all of her waking hours during the week. I don't really get the opportunity to train with him, though I would love to!
I am about 25 lbs over my ideal weight. I have carried this extra 25ish lbs of jiggle since I was 12. I really want to reach my full potential and feel healthy and energetic. It has been tough lately because my daughter keeps getting sick for some reason, so my gym time has been inconsistent. However, I think I am going to do the insanity program at home for these cold winter days that she is sick.

Hi everybody, I'm Sarah, age 33. I have a son, Nathan, 4 1/2, and a son, Noah, who will be 3 at the end of this month. I work full time and sit pretty much all day. Just started SparkPeople at the beginning of the year, and already love it. Tracking my calories has been a huge eye opener. I have 50 lbs to lose and can use all the motivation I can get. emoticon

Hi there - I'm Michelle, I'm 35, wife to a great hubbie and I have two very active little boys, 5 and almost 3.

I used to be fit and healthy, but over the past 2-3 years, I have not put in the effort it takes to stay that way. Work, baby/kid stuff, housekeeping, and other things always seemed to take priority, and it feels like I'm always tired with not enough hours in the day. The easiest thing to drop is the "me' time at the gym, or spending time making meal plans and so forth. And then there's the "I deserves" -- as in, "I deserve this cupcake, I worked hard today at my job" or "I deserve that extra glass of wine, my kids were whiny all day today." That started happening day in, day out. I was making excuses and justifying my bad habits.

I put my health and well-being at the bottom of the priority list, and here I am today: I've got 27 lbs to lose to get back to my pre-baby weight. More importantly, I have noticed I've lost a significant amount of strength, endurance and flexibility, and am completely addicted to sugar and caffeine. This HAS to change.

So I'm starting 2012 out this way: no more excuses or "I deserves". The time I spend making healthy meals is time well spent for my whole family, full-stop. Workouts are good for me, and will improve my energy and stamina -- I should prioritize my health and be a good role model for my sons.

I am looking forward to giving and receiving support here at SparkPeople! :)

Hello all, my name is Tamra and I have an almost 3 year old daughter, Katie.

I've been FAT my entire life, but after almost 15 years of a desk job, it's gotten completely ridiculous. Ridiculous to the point that I have trouble admitting to myself that that number on the scale is correct. 150lbs gained in that 15 years. HOLY HELL!

Anyway, after a surprise pregnancy at 36 I find myself coming up on 40 with a toddler. After she was able to outrun me (heading toward a busy street) I've come to the realization that I really do have to stop the excuses and if I want to live to see her grow up, I have to do something. And I have to start NOW, not later.

Hello my name is Tonya and I am a stay at home mom/wife. I have 4 wonderful kids 3 girls ages 2,4,&5 then 1 boy age 12....I am new to Spark people and still trying to learn all the different things on here. so far i think this is the best free fitness & weight loss website I've found. After having my youngest I "let" myself go. I am weighing in a little over 200 and and would like to get to 140 or at least a size 10. after i hit that goal then i will reevaluate. I currently joined a turbo kick class witch I absolutely love. I am learning that i need to make that "ME" time so i can reach my goal.

Hi I'm Reta. Wife to Guy and Mom to two beautiful girls, almost 5 yr old Dayna and 2 1/2 year old Gabrielle. I've got about 20 lbs of "baby weight" to lose. I'm finding my calorie intake everyday is way too high. Any tips to get it at a better level? Also any ideas for snacks for my girls. Right now it cookies, chips and sometimes I can sneak in a yogurt.

Hello, I am Caitlyn. My little girl, Clara, is two and a half. I am currently at home with her and my husband and I are discussing "the next baby". We were very conscious of everything when planning for Clara and I want to be sure to do the same for any other children we may have. For me, the first step toward that is losing my remaining "baby weight" and getting back into healthier exercise habits. Somehow, when I worked outside of the home this seemed easier. There was no temptation to make cookies on a rainy afternoon and the gym was a much better option than sitting at my desk for lunch. Funny how being home translates into less "me" time. I would't trade it for anything though, I just want to learn how to make it all work the best that I can. =-)

Hello I am Megan and my soon-to-be 4 year old is Nico. I am completing school this March after 3 years of intense day and night classes. I feel that part of preparing for graduation is preparing for the real life afterwards, so I want to lost that 30 pounds of baby weight I have been carrying around for 4 years, partly so I can fit back into my business clothes, but mostly because it's an unhealthy example for my son. He is starting to mimic my and my husband's habits, which is so cute and so scary all at the same time; I want him to see good eating habits and exercising options in his mom and dad everyday so he knows the importance of being healthy.

Hey, everyone. I'm Julie from Joplin, MO. I have 8 kids all together (17, 15, 14, 12, 10, 10, 8, and 4). I'm working hard on building better habits, both in eating and exercise, so I can teach my kids by example how to be healthy. I sometimes have a hard time getting my preschooler to try new foods, expecially veggies. If there's any ideas people have, I'm always open to suggestions! emoticon

Hi! My name is Amber. I have 2 toddlers. One is 3 and the other just turned 5. I don't have a lot of weight to lose, about 10-15 pounds, but need all the motivation and energy to be able to do it. My husband and I both work full time and he is also trying to lose a few pounds. Hopefully we can do it together!!

Hello! My name is Jessica and I am new to SparkPeople but really excited for the lifestyle changes and weight loss! I am a busy mom of two toddlers...Malia who just turned 3 yesterday and Nathan who turned 2 on December 30. I am the proud wife of a police officer but between me working days and him working nights, I find very little time away from my little ones to work out. =) Regardless, I am committed to shedding 30-40 lbs and creating healthy lifestyles for my whole family.

Hi! My name is Kelly and I am new to SparkPeople. I have 5 children and my preschoolers are Jackson (4) and Sofia (2). I am in day 2 of my lifestyle change and I am loving how I feel already. I got up BEFORE my alarm and exercised this morning....the kids are all asleep and I can't believe how quiet it is!! I am a first grade teacher, so my life is pretty high stress. One of my goals is to learn to deal with stress without turning to food!

My little ones are AMAZING! Jackson is very sweet, smart and compassionate. He sometimes thinks he's a teenager, because I have 15 and 13 year old sons, as well. Sofia is totally our little princess, very girly and delicate. She is the polar opposite of our 8 year old daughter, who would just as soon be playing football with the boys!

I am happy to be a member and look forward to giving as well as getting much needed support!

Hello! My name is Vicki. Recently moved to Morgantown, WV, but am from Indianapolis. I am very new to SP, and I am hopeful. I am a mother to 2 fabulously wonderful children. Orion, my son, is the oldest at 5, and my daughter Kennedy is gonna be 3 on friday. They are part of the reason I want to change to be able to be a good example for them, but my biggest reason for my decision to lose weight was me. After several years of taking care of everyone else in my life, I have decided that I need to start focusing on me. Personally, I haven't been my biggest cheerleader (infact I've been the exact opposite) and it didn't use to be that way. I want my daughter to grow up with a good body image, and I need to be that example for her, and for myself. I hope SP is the outlet and support I desperately need to accomplish my goals physically, and emotionally!

Hi everyone, my name is Danielle. I'm a stay at home mom, and will be probably for the next couple years. My son just turned 2 in October, and I'm currently pregnant with a little girl due in April. I've been on sparkpeople since 2006 and lost 110 lbs before I got pregnant with my son, and since then have been going up and down. I'm back on here trying to find some of the companionship I used to have and support to keep a healthy lifestyle for me and my growing family.

My son's name is Isaac, and one word that describes him is 'bulldozer'. The kid is constantly on the move and always getting into something he's not supposed to! His behavior is much more under control when I am able to take him outside somewhere to let him run his energy off, which was much more easier before winter and getting pregnant! We're working on how to follow directions and to transition from one activity to another. He tends to get overstimulated pretty quickly, which I guess is pretty normal for many boys the same age. I'd love for him to be potty trained before baby 2 gets here, but that isn't looking like its going to happen. We've been watching too much tv lately so the past 2 weeks I've been trying to leave the tv off more and have more activities together (even if they are all inside) during the day. Which I think is more challenging for me than him because I get so bored so quickly, especially with someone who can repeat the same thing over and over again for an hour lol. I'm looking forward to finding him a preschool in the future, thats for sure.

Anyway glad to be here :)

~Danielle~

Hello! My name is Christin. I'm 25 and have 3 children. The preschooler will be four in February. His name is Jayden. He is definitely my angel. He was diagnosed on the Autism spectrum a year and a half ago. And it tore my world apart. I quit my job where I worked as a studio manager for a cosmetic studio so that I could fight for my baby. Because I chose to quit my job, we lost our home and had to sell one of our vehicles. Well among all the sacrifices I've made for my little Jman. I sacrificed caring for myself entirely. My thyroid began giving me problems and I was also diagnosed with Bipolar disorder... Anyhow, I gained about 60 lbs within a 6 month period. I lost twenty last year on my own, but now I am looking to lose the remainder. Since Jayden has done so well at overcoming his obstacles in life, I am now able to take time for me again. So this is where my journey begins!

Looking forward to looking like myself again in 2012!!!

Hello everyone! My name is Kelley and I have two girls (a 3yo and a 6mo).

I joined SP in 2007, lost the weight I wanted to after spending most of my adult life being overweight, got pregnant with my first kid at the end of 2007 and been on the weight roller coaster ever since. But, after having my second kid in July 2011, I'm finally ready to begin this journey again.

I currently have 70 pounds to lose! I know I can do it. I need to do it. I need help finding time without feeling guilty.

Hi!

Just got engaged and having Midnight in Paris French theme wedding Sun Aug 18, 2013.

Goals/Motivations:

1. Trying to get motivated to get off my ass and lose weight so I dont look like a cow in my dress or next to my skinny ass bridesmaids. lol So wake up at 630AM everyday and jump on treadmill, drink 8 cups water, & take my vitamin.

2. Plus be a good role model for my 4 yr old daughter (my lil mini me emoticon ). My mom was a very bad influence, so I have to get over that and be a healthy mom. My fiance helps. He's super active and helped me do my first 5K in 2010 (37min 40sec). Did not do so good this year (2011) but atleast I did it.

I was in the Navy as helicopter electrician for 4 yrs, so I know what to do (exercises, food, etc), just dont do it. I stay committed for a week and then something overwhelms or exhausts me in life and I get depressed and tired and stop everything. And takes me awhile to get going again.

So here I go again! :) Good luck to you all too!!

Hi everyone! I'm a mother of a 4 yr old boy! Also a hospital employee and part time musician. It can be challenging, but, hopefully this site, its tools, and all will help me make the best out of this journey! emoticon emoticon

My name is Jenny, I have 3 kids. 7yrs, 3yrs and 22 mos. I am excited to have found this site and encouraged by all of the support here! I've been on steroid meds for a few months due to a brain injury and that has caused me to gain quite a bit of weight, and I've been told I need to lose it before it causes me to become diabetic! I've never been faced with this kind of news and hope that I can be successful!

Hi Everyone, I've been a member of Sparkpeople for a long long time and somehow managed to not have any success or have a bit and then fall back into old habits after a little while. I am a working mother of 2, a 2 year old and 5 year old little girl who are full of energy and life. My 5 year old told me I was "not so skinny" the other day and is watching me for who she wants to be one day. I want to set the best example I can. She was very excited to see me get on the elliptical today and joined in on the action. They are both very healthy and I want them to stay that way, but if I don't smarten up, they will likely fall into my patterns. So, this time I'm doing it. They're old enough now and life is not so chaotic, although it IS super busy. I am just going to have to make time for me in all the hub bub. I have a plan for when to squeeze in exercise and when to plan meals and cook, so I'm well-equipped. Wish me luck. emoticon

Hi all. I am Jennifer. I am a full time working Mom to my favorite almost 4 year old Mary Helen. My partner in life Jerry has been the stay at home parent since she was 8 weeks old. The two of them spend their days taking care of my mother-in-law and having a great time. Jerry is an artist when he is not chasing after Mary Helen. I am a teacher-librarian at an elementary school in a large district on the Navajo Nation. I also am working on the governing board of a start up charter school. Life is go go go with too much to do but I know I have to make myself a priority this year. I will be 43 in February and I don't want to be fighting this weight battle for the rest of my life!

Jennifer

Hello there, everyone. New to site and apparently a bit of a luddite, as I cannot figure out how to get that fancy, schmancy weight loss bar timeline to appear like all of yours. That thing is cool. Please help. I want one, although mine will not show any progress yet. I will get there.

At any rate, I have a lovely 2 and a 1/2 year-old little girl named Jocelyn. We reside in Bridgewater, NJ. She keeps me chasing her and hopefully I will soon get over this nagging leg injury so that I can actually catch her once in a while. She knocked over a lamp at Bloomingdale's before I could get to her the other day. The saleswoman just laughed. Well, better than paying for it, I suppose.

Look forward to reading your posts and tips along the way.

-Frank

Hi everyone, my name is Angel. I am a happily married 36 year old mother of 3. My boys are 3, 5 and 17. . Our life is a busy one with the three boys always in to something, my middle son plays baseball (my wonderful husband helps coach) my oldest is a wrestler and will be graduating high school --- and leaving for the Marines this summer (hold on while I quit crying) - we have 2 dogs who drive me crazy, but I can't imagine life without. 1 house with 2 parents, 3 kids, 2 dogs, 2 fish and 1 rabbit makes for one tired mommy most days, but I am determined to make it work this time. I remember how good I used to feel when I lost some weight, and was working out most mornings and doing yoga every night. I slept through the nights! It was the best I ever felt/slept/looked. Why did I give that up again? Like the sentiment shared by most of your intros, I have been so busy being wife and mommy, I have been on the back burner for too long. 2012 is the year I am learning to balance me in the mix. I hate to sound selfish, but it's time for me. Also, I love to cook, and am super excited about my personal challenge to me, to try one new healthy recipe a day this month. That's about it. I look forward to getting to know you all this year.

Hello! I have two fabulous little boys, ages 3 yrs, and 6 months. I work full-time outside of the home, and have really let myself go over the last few years. I originally joined SP after my first son was born, but then didn't do anything with it. starting over now, and hoping that this time I succeed (need to lose 50 pounds).

Hello. My name is Danielle. I'm a full-time working mother to a 2 yr old daughter. I'm new to Sparkpeople. By putting family and work first I have neglected to take care of myself. I want to set a healthier example for my daughter.

It doesn't matter if you move slow, because you are still moving faster than those on the couch!!

Hi I'm Liz! I am 26 years old and just got back into spark after a 5-6 month "break".. I gained all my weight back plus a few during that time. I now know how important this site and its community is. I am a SAHM to an almost 3 year old daughter, Kaydence. I got down to my now goal weight before, and I know with the help and support of spark and it's members I can do it again! Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all have a great start to it! emoticon

Hi, my name is Katie. I have a 2 year old almost 3 in March. She was actually born on my anniversary to my husband. So, the same day she turns 3 I will be married for 4 years. I am currently in the Army deployed to Afghanistan. I will be returning home in a month or so. I joined pretty much to keep track of my eating and exercising. I would like to loose about 10-15 lbs. My fav. thing is to run. I cannot wait to get home to my baby girl! emoticon
