My name is Maribel and I am 40! I never thought I would be this old, but I am finally 40! I do not feel old at all, but my body weight is holding me back. I never thought I'd be overweight, but I am. At my heaviest I weighed 201lbs. I cried that day, felt miserable, and decided I needed to do something, anything to get myself to a normal weight for my height.

So far I have managed to lose 20lbs. Yay! Unfortunately, then I lost 5 more pounds, gain 2, lost 3, gained 6, lost 3, gained, ... back and forth. I did well on my own for the 20lbs. But now I feel I need support, help, to keep me going.

I am also a person who enjoys gizmos and gadgets. I have a FitBit (, and I use the Lose It app and site ( I am currently contemplating getting a heart rate monitor with a chest strap to help me count calories burned a bit more accurately.

I enjoy watching the Biggest Loser, and unlike them I can not dedicate 8 hours a day to my weight loss. I have 2 kids: A 5 year old boy who just started kindergarten and keeps me busy. I also have a 2 year old girl who keeps me on my toes, even while I sleep.

 current weight: 193.4
