Way to go, PROJECTCHRISSIE! With all the walking you've been doing, I bet it'll be easier to transition than you imagined. I'm in a similar position as you, in terms of age and other life conditions, and I have been so impressed by the support and encouragement I've gotten from the runners on this site. I was self-conscious about asking questions and just getting started "at my age," but I've found nothing but positive reinforcement and acceptance here.

And yes, the body changes! I doesn't happen as quickly as when I was younger, but I'm down a pants size and feel so much stronger.

Can't wait to share success stories with you going forward. Let's go running!

Sounds like you are doing it right!! Walk/runs are the best way to get your body used to the change in activity:-). Keep us posted on how it goes from here.

If all you get is all you give, then you should only give all you''ve got.

I am 54 years old, and walk every where, I have never had a drivers license so walking has been my means to get from A to B. but it is becoming a bit mundane, and i want to shake it up a bit by starting to run. I am a bit scared of falling over when I run, but have started doing it in 1 minute cycles. I have three kids and two grandkids, am studying a Diploma in Business Administration and Advanced Diploma in Nutritional Medicine, keeping the mind active but I want my body to follow suite, and become fit, strong and healthy.
