Great job on setting your goals and not giving up on them. Finding a way to continue when C25k wasn't working shows that you are able to tackle obstacles.

Hi everyone!
I would like to state for the record, that this is my cousin's fault. She posted something on Facebook about a HM she would be in with her brother. The idea got into my head and took off like a wildfire.

Its all I can think about now, I even dream of running! Its such a release to get out there and go, Although I know its going to hurt and I have to MAKE myself begin, I know that once my blood start going and the endorphins hit....yep...I'm a junkie!
My goals were a 5k before the end of this year, a 10k by the end of spring, and then to go out to Texas and compete in a HM with my cousins by the end of 2013.

I started out doing the couch to 5k program, but life happens and I couldn't seem to make it past week 2. I had a few falls and mishaps and felt defeated when I couldn't manage the timing on the intervals. I have decided since then to let my body tell me when and how long it is able to jog and so far it seems to be working out better. Even though my time only improves at a snail's pace (I think I jog slower than I walk!), I am improving and feeling accomplished each time I go out. Also, I noticed that my recovery time after I get home has improved TREMENDOUSLY!

I have done 5k several times...nothing 'official' as finances haven't allowed yet, but I have gone the distance and although I am as slow as can be, I have made the distance. Right now I am just under an hour for 5k.

Next stop on my journey...10k!

Man sacrifices his health in order to make money.

Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.

And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present;

The result being that he does not live in the present or the future;
he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.
