I introduced myself about 6 years ago, but you know what? There are so many new people in this team, I think I will do it again. I have been a spark member since 2008, and have lost 120 pounds. There was a phase of sparkpeople where they had live coaching webinars, I was one of the coaches. I have been an avid supporter of SP for years. Thanks to SP, I found the confidence I needed to reach my goals and become a certified coach, personal trainer, and ultimately start my own business as a lifestyle organizer for parent entrepreneurs.

My passions lie in health and fitness. It is about creating control in your life through the things you can control. I am here to support and encourage anyone who needs it. Plus, I am still here for the fantastic support.

In fact, I have recently become pregnant (due in January) and know that SP will provide the support I need to continue my healthy living through the pregnancy.

I wish you all the best of luck and look forward to getting to know more of you.

My name is Bridget, I'm 32 (33 in June) and I'm a wife and mom of 2 elementary age kids. I have used Spark in the past and was pretty successful but after my daughter was born (who I sadly admit is 6 years old) I have struggled a lot with weight and even desire to do any of it. Now I look at myself, being the size I was when I started the last time, disappointed that I have let it get to this point again. I have tried my fitness pal but not too impressed. I like the tracking system better but I like the support system better on Spark. I work full time at a very busy office where I sit 90% of the time. I can make every excuse in the world why I don't work out but mainly, I'm just too tired.
I'm hoping getting back on Spark will help jump start my journey. I am 68 days away from our first ever Florida vacation and I want to look a little better in my swimsuit!! Goal is to be down about 18lbs in 9 weeks!

Good Morning! I am Laura. I am a 31 year old wife and mother to my 5 year old step son and 8 month old son. I gave birth to my son early in July and life has been a whirlwind ever since. Dealing with complications from Connor being a premie and the c-section actually has caused me to put on a good deal of weight. Fortunately Connor is thriving now and my medical conditions are under control for now, so it is time for me to get serious about my health and lose some of this extra weight so I can be the best that I can for my family.

Hello Everyone, new to the team. Just turned 30 last month and want to finally hit my goal weight. Been a sparker for a little over 2 years now, and down 85 pounds. I have one stepdaughter 16 years old, a son who is 10, a daughter who is almost 8, and another daughter who is almost 4.

Hello, I'm Tathrin, 33, originally from the San Diego area but now living in the Virgin Islands.
I track inches, not pounds, so you can say my goal is to shrink down! I've chipped away 7 inches since January but I have A LOT more I'd like to lose and I'm hoping that being on spark can help me see better results through the rest of the year and into the future.
My biggest challenge this year has been finding a workout routine that I like enough to stick with (although I'm currently on day 4 with my latest workout video series and really loving it).

I like the official SP challenges. SP Official Healthy Cooking Challenge and SP Official 'Eat Up, Slim Down' Challenge

Here are the changes I have made so far:
1. Planning meals now
2. Drinking 2.2 L of H2O per day
3. Keeping fruit in bowls throughout my house

Hi my name is Angella. I have tried Sparkpeople a couple of times but I am new to this group. I am ready to start back up on my weightloss journey.

Hi! My name is Joyce and I live in Mississippi. I am a stay at home mom of two girls ages 14 and 11, and wife to my wonderful husband for almost 20 years! I am just not happy with the weight I have gained in the last two years. I have a strong family history of diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, and cancer. Also I have high blood pressure and have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I know loosing the 15 pounds I've gained will make me feel better, and make me healthier for my family. Motivation is hard for me, so hoping that with Spark support, I'll be able to loose some of the weight and get healthier.

My name is Jerri. I am from North Carolina where I am a stay at home mom/housewife to my awesome husband of almost 19 years and my daughter 18 and son, 9. I have actually been a member since 2007 but I think life got in the way or something and I gave up trying.

I am right now 240 lbs and would like to be 140. I have to be at 150 so that I can have a breast reconstruction surgery since I had stage II breast cancer in 2007 and had to have a bilateral mastectomy.

I lost my daddy very unexpectedly in January and then in May found out my mom has terminal brain cancer and also found out I AM A STRESS EATER! But I have decided it's time to quit eating like have been and get off my butt!

Giving yourself a year and a half to lose the weight is definitely a good step. You always want to lose weight slowly to ensure that you won't regain it back. Sounds to me like you have the same problem that a lot of us have: a lifestyle that encourages being overweight. Remember, it's not just the food that causes the problem, it's what you do when you're *not* eating that causes the problem. My career calls for me to sit on my butt for 8 hours a day, in addition to a 3-hour commute; that was the primary reason why I gained the weight. Eat a little bit less, move a LOT more, and the weight will drop off for good.

I'm not quite 30 (28), but I definitely feel that I relate more with the 30 somethings than the 20 somethings...so I joined this group...I hope you don't mind. I just joined Sparkpeople today. I am hoping to lose at least 8 dress sizes by my best friends wedding in a year and a half...but the main reason is because my husband and I would like to start a family soon...and I really need to be healthier before that time comes. I've tried this (both SparkPeople and dieting) before, but I failed. I need help.

I LOVE food (my husband is a former chef turned butcher) and I am a HUGE snacker. I love anything salty and when my husband goes to bed, it's gorging time for me! I hide it (he has NO idea) and am ashamed of it, but I'm putting it all out there and hoping to change. Oh...and to top it all off...I AM A CAKE DECORATOR!!!! Try being around that ALL day! Thank GOD sweets aren't my weakness!

So...long story short...HELP!

Just turned 30, I decided to get going on my own health. Working in a kitchen for my job, I find myself leaning to convenience foods. Hi! I'm Meredith and I'm from Ferndale, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. I don't have weight to lose - I'm here to track my exercise and food intake. Sometimes I exercise too much and eat too little and sometimes I exercise too little and eat too much, so writing it all down helps me stay level. My biggest hindrance is that I keep hurting my back! I had abdominal surgery about a year and a half ago and it really did something weird to my core muscles, so now when I try to push myself a little bit I wind up with weeks of back and neck pain. Luckily walking doesn't hurt at all so I have been doing a lot of that lately. Our dog is really happy. I've just started physical therapy to correct this core thing, so hopefully that helps and I can move on to a more varied workout! We just bought a rowing machine that I'm dying to try, but I don't dare do it right now.

Hi everyone! My name is Renee, and I will turn 30 next Monday. I am a mother of two - a 4 year old little girl and a 3 month old little boy, and I am trying to fit dieting and exercising into my busy, busy schedule...which is why I am here! I am a full time graduate student working on my degree in Secondary Education. I will be finishing my student teaching and my degree requirements in about 7 1/2 weeks. My husband is active duty in the military, and we have been living at our current residence for about a year now. It is difficult to meet up with others my age with the job my husband has, and so I was super excited to find a team to join where I can share experiences with others my age that can actually relate to what I am either going through or talking about! Hi I am 32 and I am beginning a lifestyle change being more active and just making me feel better. I love to hike,camp and be outdoors, being my size has really limited the amount I can do that. I live in Maine and that really lot of what this state has to offer.

One of big issues with losing weight is the motivation to stick with it, If I don't see results then I usually quit. So this has to be the time it works.

Hi Everyone! I have actually been on this team for years but not active...but I need some renewed motivation! I originally lost 75lbs on sparkpeople and kept it off for 2 years...though some life issues I have gained back about 25 pounds and have been desperately trying to get this off. I feel like I have tried everything EXCEPT getting back to teams and support from spark! So here I am, I KNOW I can do it - just need to be disciplined and consistent! I do bootcamp 4 days a week, I am an assistant coach on my running team, and love to hike/bike/swim or whatever else I can find time for! I'm attempting to start training for my 3rd full marathon with 2 halfs in the middle! Thanks in advance for the support as we make it through this journey together!

RUFIT - I have a polar RS200 and a garmin 305 - the polar is by FAR more accurate if you are tracking calories burned. the heart rate is correct on the garmin but it does not use the HR to calculate calories burned it uses a formula and I find that it is almost 400 calories off if not more on my long runs...maybe the newer garmins are more accurate but definetely something to ask - right now I use both and the polar is for my HR/calories and the garmin is for my pace/distance/and intervals. Hope that helps!

Hello, my name is Julie. I am from Montreal, Quebec. I have been using sparkpeople for a couple years now. I use it to help me live a healthy lifestyle and keep me motivated! I would like to lose a few more pounds. I am 5'1" so every pound shows on me!
Right now I am doing pretty well with my diet and exercise. Overtime I tend to stop tracking my calories and the weight slowly creeps back. Hi there! I didn't even know I was part of this group until I decided to actually log in and USE sparkpeople. I had another account here, but decided to start all over. I haven't been tracking anything on here, but decided that I should. Then i saw I was part of this group. At first I was going to leave the group then I remembered that I can't do this on my own and how awesome it is to have encouragement from people who struggle with the same issues as I do.

So, here I am.

My name is Darlene. I live in Sheridan, Oregon. It's a very small town and I think I am beginning to love it more. This small community of people are becoming more community-like, if that makes sense. Coming together and supporting one another.

I have 4 kids; 3 of them are adopted from my niece. They've been with me 5 1/2 years and are now 12, 10, and 7. My bio son is almost 15. My husband left me 3 years ago so I am walking this road alone. Wait, that's not true. I'm single, but not alone. I have great friends and a great church that are there for me. Still, at the end of the day I often feel so alone. 2 of the adopted kids are heading back into counseling due to deep emotional trauma. Our life is difficult most days. I also was adopted so I can somewhat relate, but it doesn't give me the answers of what to do.

My biggest hindrance would be that I use food to comfort me. When I'm stressed or sad or so very exhausted I turn to food. I've had time that I've turned to exercise, but right now I'm working on strengthening an ankle I twisted pretty badly. However, whether it's food or exercise the heart issue is just the same. Exercise is good, but not something to obsess over.

I love Jesus and believe the Bible so I'm also working on that aspect as well. When I'm focused on God and choosing to pray over eat then I'm always doing much better.

Hi LaToya! Welcome to the team and thanks for sharing.
I know how difficult it is to eat well with a hectic lifestyle and how it can throw a wrench into losing weight. I'm working on getting a few easy go-to lunches and snacks which I can stash at work, in the car, etc so I make healthier choices when I'm in a hurry. If I can make a healthy option just as easy as a drive through I really don't have an excuse, do I? emoticon

Hi everyone! My name is LaToya or Leaves. I am from Miami, Florida. My current goals are to work out 4x per week, track my food, and reach my goal weight of 220 pounds. When I get to 220, I will update my GW depending on how I feel. I'm currently 286, after having lost 59 pounds 18 months ago and gaining back 30 of it. So now, I'm ready to get back on track. My biggest hindrance is managing food with a hectic lifestyle. I'm working on a Ph.D., and my schedule is incredibly intense sometimes. I want to try to work through the "grab-n-go" lifestyle that I have followed for years.

I have been on SP for quite some time but have fallen out of community over the last year. I'm looking forward to getting to know my other teammates and jumping back into the groove!
