Hello! My name is ON_A_DIET. I am new here!

I know it is up to myself to make the right choices. Have the right food, do the right activity, write articles that are appropriate (I am a freelancer), etc. There are times when you just have to say "get thee behind me Satan!"

Hopefully this team will be a good fit. I look forward to participation.

Oooh! Those are the 'witching' hours for me, too! I've been known to whip up a batch of mac 'n cheese or start baking cookies at 7pm. I tend to do better if I stay busy a little later in the evening and then I'm getting my shower out of the way and getting ready for bed during that time. Is there anything you could do to extend your bedtime prep so there is no time to snack?

I'm sorry for your loss. Don't worry about any questions; I'm open to answering them to the best of my ability.

I've finished my 4 years of undergrad and graduated university in 2014 where I double majored in biology and English literature and minored in creative writing. I took a little bit of time off between college and medical school and am now on my second year of medical school. I have this year plus two years of clinical rotations to graduate with my MD and then have a few more years of residency afterwards.

I always find myself wanting to snack a couple hours after dinner, but that's probably just because I'm bored or lonely. I agree with you that focus is sometimes the problem, and I'm going to start trying to take a bit of a stretch break before bed.

That's emoticon Angela! Disclaimer: I'm a 50 year old woman who just lost her SO after spending the first 2 weeks of April in the hosp.and then being home on hospice for almost 3 months. And that is just the latest in a long history of heart, lung, and kidney problems with Tom. I've become very jaded when it comes to the medical establishment so, if I ask you random, strange questions, I apologize. Don't take it personally. emoticon I'm also very opinionated, though I try not to burden most people with said opinions.

Now that I've got that out of the way, where are you in the timeline of 'medical school'? Have you done 4 years of undergrad (is that what they call it) or are you on your second year of that?
Do you have a problem with sugar in response to a specific feeling or time of day? I tend to feel like I need something to snack on after lunch, but it seems like 'focus' is the main goal so I'm wondering if I need to do some yoga on my lunch break, or maybe just take a walk to calm my mind.

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah, it's kind of funny, but doctors tend to be the worst patients and put their own physical and mental health last in their list of priorities.

I'm primarily interested, at this point, in going in to OBGYN.

emoticon to the team, Angela! I've heard how hard it is to stay healthy during medical school; that seems kind of strange if you think about it emoticon You're ahead of the game, though, if you see it and decide to do something now rather waiting.
Do you have a specialty in mind?

Hi everyone. I'm Angela and I'm a second year medical student on the east coast. I've been an on/off user of Spark People and similar sites over the past few years, but since starting medical school, I've found keeping healthy is something I've been struggling with a lot, and I put on quite a bit of weight. I'm looking to regain my activity level and fitness, as well as lose weight, so that I can maintain a healthy lifestyle throughout graduate school into my professional career.
