Hi, JEN!

I meant to welcome you last night but after I went to google Lovecraft and geocacher, I got distracted and didn't get back.

I'm prepared now. I know that Arkham, Massachusetts is a place for the criminally insane. And I read a bit about Innsmouth, Massachusetts, too. I wish I had read some of the Lovecraft books especially since they have a cult following.

Geocaching sounds like a nice adventure and good exercise, too. I enjoy mountain trails, since some of my early years were spent in the Smokies with Granny Rose. I was born in Virginia, in the Appalachian mountains. Now, I live in a suburb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My exercise thing is dancing.
I'm retired and I take a bunch of dance classes and dance on a dance team.

I look forward to getting to know you better. I'll be glad when you are able to move from that hospital desk job to something better suited to your talents and education.

You and I are on Team B with LINDAHUTCH53 and SHELBEY74. Yay! Go, Team B!

Linda sent me her starting weight tonight and said she'll be away until Sunday night. I told her to be thinking about ideas she likes for our team name. We need to be doing the same thing. I'll send a SparkMail addressed to the 3 of you so that we can toss around suggestions for the name, back and forth. We don't have to rush.

So, we'll talk soon.

Welcome to the team!

And as far as pithy bible quotes go...

"Blessed shall he be, who taketh thy children and dasheth them against the stones."

Such an uplifting book!

Hi! Welcome to the gang! My hubby is a Lovecraft fan, so I'm a bit familiar with the material. And oddly, I was just googling about geocaching yesterday whilst bored at work, though I don't remember what got me there. Nifty hobby!

Anyhoot, come on in and make yourself at home...

Welcome, Jen. I'm looking forward to getting to know you. I have to admit I'm not one of the cool kids (especially since I can no longer be classified as a kid now that my own kids are grown). I have no idea what Lovecraft is. I do, however, know how to google, so I can find out . . .

Why hello there!

I'm also in Connecticut, have an interdisciplinary MA in social science (and a BA in anthro) and, um, the name of our home wireless network is Innsmouth. So your post made me smile.

Hubby and I named the tables at our wedding reception after Lovecraftian place names. The cool kids got it... and most of them were sitting in Arkham anyway.

Welcome!

Since I joined up with the incipient challenge, I figured I should do at least a little intro.

I joined SP a while back, although I really want to stay active this time around. I figured participating in an active group would help.

So...I'm Jen. I live in New England and my handle is because I'm a big Lovecraft fan. I'm 28 and I work at a hospital at the front desk, although I have an MA in anthropology. Long story short, I was in a PhD program and left to figure things out. But working at a desk job for the 18 months has translated into 20 pounds I didn't need on top of 30 I already gained as an undergrad! Arg!

On the bright side, my partner and I have been hiking a lot so far since February, despite the snow and ice. We're geocachers, but we don't really hang out with the 'geocaching crowd.' It's brought us to a lot of random little trails and parks in the tristate area. A good weekend afternoon has us out for at least four hours. Additionally, today is day 3 of 3 for managing to get up early enough to pack my lunch! Yes!

Anyway, thanks for the active group without the pithy bible quotes. If I'm going to do this it's through science and companionship, not imaginary friends.
