Anyone willing to join me in prayer is appreciated.
Dear God,
I pray for acceptance of Your will and Your timing.
If it is Your will, please have my mom's case reviewed by the oncologist today and spare her from the colonoscopy and especially the prep. Prior to the procedure.
If it is Your will, please let her systems begin functioning properly without accumulating so much fluid in her abdominal cavity.
In Jesus name I pray ... A-men
PS ..... Thank you for allowing me to live in a country of religious freedom where I can express my thoughts without prejudice.

It might be easier to feed an adult and a child on $200 per month, but I am trying to feed 2 adults (I'm 60 and he is 58).

The future is not some place we are going, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made. And the activity of making them changes both the maker and the destination.

Hi "Faithfulhearted" and Susan.
It is tough when you have to make food choices for a child too. The highly process foods seem to draw us in because of our bodies desire for sweet and fatty foods.
I'm fortunate to have a daughter that enjoys the store brand Rice Krispie cereals with milk every morning. On the weekends we enjoy pancakes. I get the mix from a store called Aldi's, but I could easily make from stretch. I buy the "complete" so I only need to add water to the mix. I eat a lot of oatmeal and dried beans. With stock and spices. I am very satisfied with the variety the beans seem to give me. A 2# bags is less than $2 and will last so long.
I eat plain Greek yogurt with frozen fruit mixed in. I look for the fruit that has no or limited additives and go with Susan's advice of portioning every food out.
I'm going to be getting some soup bones from a butcher later this month that I had requested in July. I look forward to having plenty of wonderful concoctions from baking (roasting) the bones and then using them as a base for my beans or soups (or both). I am fortunate to now have a freezer, this allows me a lot easier safe storage of foods and leftovers.
I don't need much variety in my meals, but people seem to need variety. I use the ingredience I have on hand to save money. I wish you the best of luck. I don't tend to over eat on the healthy food, but if I start on the highly process foods my cravings seem to control me. It is best for me to avoid the 99 cent bags of cookies and other low priced processed foods.
To summarize: Oatmeal, rice, beans, eggs, cereal and milk can take you many places as you find extras on sale to add to the menu like Carrott and potatoes and celery and sale items. Just don't buy too many thing that are perishable, since many pennies are thrown away due to spoilage.
It's an adjustment, may I pray for you as you transition.
Sincerely, Julia

That's what I spend on food for daughter & I, I invested in a food scale & weigh/measure everything I plan to cook. It stretches it out. I have meat portions in the freezer as well vegetables. There are members here who can help you here. I hope they post.

I get $200 per month in food stamps and I need to feed 2 people with this. The only way I can figure to do this is to buy cheap highly processed food. If you can tell me how to eat healthy on that budget I will sing your praises to the very throne of God. Please be specific and remember that living in the desert means that all produce and seafood must be shipped over long distances and the prices reflect this.

The future is not some place we are going, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made. And the activity of making them changes both the maker and the destination.
