Hi Everyone!! I came back to Sparkpeople on July 15, 2008. I had been ill and under doctor's care but all tests came back as normal. NO CANCER!!!! So....with the doctor's blessing I am back to lose weight and regain a healthy lifestyle.

You're not alone because...well, doesn't everybody know that whatever you eat in secret doesn't have any calories? *hehe* Seriously though, somehow I kidded myself into unrealistic thoughts like that while I polished off a bag of cookies that it was okay and that I wasn't doing anything wrong. Well, all those cookies somehow snuck up on me and reality hit me square in the face. They say that tracking your food is the one thing that leads to greater weight-loss success. Statistics are something like 80% of people who track their food intake are more successful than the 20% that don't. (I could be wrong about those numbers, but it went something like that.) -Enough to make me get serious about tracking. I use the nutrition tracker here and I absolutely love it. I'm never too far from my computer so I usually track things as I eat them but you can write them down if you can't get to a computer at certain times and then log it in asap. Besides, you get SparkPoints when you track. emoticon

Good luck to you!

Thank you Shay !!
I kid myself and think I can go through the day and not journal what I eat. Starting NOW I am going to write what I eat everyday. I do not like feeling so out of control!
Hope you had a great day!! emoticon

Yes, I'm sure many of us can relate to your situation. I am a closet eater also. And it's mostly with sweets. I started holding myself accountable by writing down EVERYTHING that I eat. If I have to look at my journal and see that I've eaten almost a box of snack cakes then it makes me feel bad about myself and I don't want to feel bad about myself. I have been doing MUCH better since I started writing it down.

We are all here in this together and will offer you the support you need to make it to the finish line. Don't think that you are alone in this or that you are the only one doing something. I'm pretty sure that there will be others that admit to the same thing. The good thing about this community is that there are many people that you can share your feelings with and there will be many people that will understand.

Good luck to you!!

Having a hard day! emoticon All I want to do is open the frig! Needed to share that! I am tired of secretly eating and hiding food. I don't know if anyone can relate to that but I knew as soon as that thought came to mind I needed to reach out! Proud of myself thou because I walked away from the frig empty handed. emoticon

I wanted to introduce myself! Sorry it has taken me so long to do so. Still getting familiar with this website. My name is Gretchen, I am 34 years old, single, and tired of living on the side lines. I am ready to lose my weight and gain a greater understanding and love of myself! So thankful I was introduced to SparkPeople!!
