Hi I'm Sam. I'm originally from Connecticut, but kind of live all over the place now (going to law school in Boston, working in Miami for the summer, and spending fall semester abroad in Rio). I've been on spark people before and saw some progress. But then I fell off the spark people wagon. Seeing that it was a great motivation before, I decided to become active again...now that I need it more than ever.

I graduated high school six years ago weighing 142 pounds. I gained weight steadily throughout college and although I did lose weight at one point during college, I never got back to my high school graduation weight. Then in my first year of law school the stress of 1L year and a really bad break-up brought me up to 202 pounds!!!

Seeing myself and the scale has been a huge motivation to get me going with weight loss again. I've already lost 9.5 pounds and am hoping to reach my high school graduation weight by the time I graduate law school. That gives me a little over one year to lose 50.5 pounds. Along with that, I hope to fit back into my senior prom dress for my law school formal next May as a symbolic achievement of my weight loss. I think I can do it, but I will need a lot of motivation along the way.

Hi! I'm Lindsey. I'm 26 years old and from New Hampshire. I'm looking to lose at least 65 pounds but would love to be under 200! I had lost 65 pounds a few years ago when I originally joined SP but with some major life changes that last few years and particularly the last few months I've gained the weight back.

I'm getting married in October 2015 so I have added motivation to lose the weight and keep it off.

I hope I can find some new friends on here as all of my old friends seem to be inactive!!

Welcome to the Team, Fatjock!
College is a well known and common weight gain place. They don't call it the "Freshmen 15" for nothing. Although I think now it's the "Freshmen 50" ha ha ha!
Sparkpeople can help guide you down the path to losing weight and making your life healthy and active! Use the nutrition tracker to keep track of what your intake is, then the fitness tracker to either plan or track your activities.
My big hurdle is staying motivated, so I peruse the site constantly. I have the app for my droid phone and earn sparkpoints like it's a job. There is so much great information here!
Good luck on your journey and let us know how we can help!

Hey Everyone,

Long story short, I've been on spark before but didn't really utilize it as well as I should have. I played sports my whole life until I went to college and while there I gained about 55lbs from a mixture of beer, video games and an all you can eat cafeteria. Since then I've added about 25lbs more and over the weekend while looking in the mirror I decided that I've had it! It's time for a change and I'm hoping I can use spark to help me get to my goals.

Any and all advice is welcomed since the only thing I really know about losing weight is to work out and eat less!

Welcome Julie!
Sorry for the late reply, but there's not many active members here. I hope you meet your goals!
How's the 10 day spring cleaning going, by the way?

Accountabilibuddies...Haha I like that GNISULA. emoticon

Hi I am 27 and married to my high school sweetheart. I have struggled with my body image and self-esteem ever since kids started to become mean in school, began to form cliques, and the boys began liking girls (sooo.. since I was 12). From there I think I went through the process that most people have unfortunately gone through; I tried every diet in the world, worked out at home and in the gym, cut calories, lost weight only to put on twice as much as was lost etc. etc. Through the process I educated myself more and more about nutrition and fitness and made healthier food choices along the way. After 2+ years of being a straight bookworm on the subjects (started out as an accident), I began to realize what I want for myself. I want a healthier lifestyle, and I want to have my body run as efficiently as possible so I can be the best person that I can be and reach my full potential. I want to feed my body the cleanest fuel possible so it can run at optimum everyday. I also want get rid of all my emotional/social attachments I have with the unhealthy stuff/food. Why?? Because I am tired of being tired, and tired of hiding, and tired of bringing myself down.

I've turned over another new leaf and I have a feeling this year, 2013, is going to be different. I'm glad I found this team. Together we can help support, motivate, and encourage each other to reach our goals! emoticon emoticon

Hello!

I am acting as a new team leader as of today to help out Badmittenskitty, so I thought I'd share a bit about myself.
I'm 28, almost 29. Married for 5 years, and have a new-ish baby. I've been a spark people member since Nov 1, 2012, although I used to frequent it a few years ago I decided to start fresh with this profile.

I want to be healthy for my son. Not that I was horribly unhealthy, but I got winded going up stairs, I couldn't walk around the mall for more than an hour without my back hurting, etc, etc. We were on a diet of mostly fast food and the occasional prepackaged home-cooked meal. Skillet sensations by Bertolli taste great, but I want to actually COOK, not assemble.
So 2 and a half months into my self-declared "Operation: Healthy Lifestyle", and I'm down 22 lbs, have a gym membership, and work out at least 3 days a week. It's not for very long, but I'm at least going and moving around. You have to build up to good fitness.

I'm a silly woman, obsessed with shoes, online way more than I should be (I have a desk job. Shhhh!), and really like to talk shop about fitness and nutrition. Fad diets are just that: Fads. I'm in for the long haul now!
If you ever need motivation, a goodie, or just a good chit chat or talking to, feel free to send me a message. I love new friends and accountabilibuddies. (kudos to you if you get the reference!)
Together with Badmittenskitty, I hope we can make this team a community, a resource, and better yet a source of support for the thousands of members we have. (Although I really doubt there are that many of them active! ha ha!)

So hello out there!

Hey! I'm Lisa, and I'm 20. I was underweight until I was 16, when I was diagnosed with clinical depression and put on anti-depressants and have been gaining ever since. Recently I came close to my goal, but "fell off the wagon" so to speak--10lbs in a week!
I'm attending college in Toronto in the fall for Library Technican. I read a lot, write novels, and volunteer at the library where I teach kids to read. I'd like to be a runner despite having asthma.

Hi all, My name is Lindsay and I am 21 years old. I live in California with my fiance. I currently weigh 181pounds. I had lost around 5-10pounds after joining SP but sadly it's all come back with a vengeance. I feel miserable and sluggish and I can't stand this feeling anymore. Unfortunately I have gotten NO support from my fiance and I need as much help as I can get.

Hi ladies! This is my first 'intro' post, so bear with me!

I'm Allie. I'm twenty two and from Alberta, Canada. I live with my pretty fantastic boyfriend and our German Shepard/Sheltie, Baxter - who is, without a doubt, the most affectionate animal I've ever had the honour of cuddling. I work as a Receptionist and a PR Rep part time and am going to school to get my bachelor in Communications. I joined SP in July of 2011, but didn't start really using it and taking advantage of it's tools until the end of September. Between October and the middle of November, I lost about 15 lbs, but, of course, I don't think I was really as into it as I wanted to be and fell of the wagon. I induldged often on too-big portion sizes (I was a nanny at the time and I looooved to bake at their house, whoops!) and, while my weight never went up, it didn't go down either. I was extremely disappointed with myself, so I made a promise to change for the better and mean it this time; I absolutely loved the way working out and eating right made me feel and when I went back to my old ways, my emotions went haywire!

Now, I'm, as far as I know, at 140; however, I ditched the scale and decided to focus on the way my clothing fit. I'm in a comfortable/loose fitting size 6 (Parasuco, American Eagle jeans) and am hoping to be in a size 4/2 by the time May rolls around and my boyfriend and I go on our big Disney World trip! I honestly think somethings different this time; it's been two months of increased change and I feel like it's flown by! I just finished Jillian Michaels 30 DS and my Kickboxing class if over until the end of March, so for now, I'm sticking with Turbo Fire (day three!), hot yoga and Jillian Micaels Ripped In 30 on HIIT days. I also eat upwards of five plus servings of fruit and vegetables and have made a goal for myself to only have one treat a night. I mark the days I've exercised on my work calander by high-lighting the block, and mark my freggie intake with a star; the days I eat only one treat get a heart. So far, I'm going on four days (I just started on Thursday -- the 23).

I would love a Sparkbuddy to help keep me more accountable and to trade tips with! It's all about the support. =)

Hello, I'm 20, going on 21, from TN. I've been getting into the swing of exercising again to get back into shape and live a healthy lifestyle and I needed something to keep me on track and keep me motivated. I found the sparkpeople app on my phone and it went from there. :) Thus far I've been using it for three days and I love it and the website. It really helps to have a visual aid of all that I'm doing and it really makes me push myself to eat the right thing when I want to give in to bad stuff, and to make sure that I'm doing my daily dose of exercise.
I'm 140 right now and I would like to drop to anywhere from 125-135. I'm more worried about getting rid of the flab and gaining muscle than anything else and I'm not sure how that will weigh in on my small frame so we will see. :)

Hi everyone! I'm 25 from San Antonio, TX. I'm getting married in May of this year and like most brides I'm desperately trying to lose weight. When I met my fiance over 3 years ago I weighed 135 lbs. After about a year and a half or so I ballooned up to 169 lbs! That was definitely the heaviest I've ever been (I have pics up on my spark page). In May of 2010 I saw some very unflattering pictures and I was able to get down to 155 lbs. I started planning a wedding in April of 2011 and was just extremely busy (excuses, excuses). In Jan. 2012 I realized I only had a few months left until our wedding, and much less time until my first dress fitting so I started to exercise and eat right. I'm down to 147 lbs, but would like to be down to 140 lbs by March 15 (first dress fitting).

Lately I've been lacking motivation. I've been feeling extremely fatigued and stress. I was hoping that joining some Spark Teams would help me turn all that around. 7 more pounds to go!

Hi everyone,
I'm Keesha. I am 26, living in DC. I have been a member of SparkPeople for about 6 years. I am up and down in my weight loss. I do a really great job of getting the weight off but then I am also really good of putting it back.
I have made the first of many appointments with a Dr to get a status on my health and a starting point for the new year. This year is about no more excuses. I am really good at keeping a healthy diet, it's keeping active with my sleep habits and exercise that kills me (Life of a Grad Student). I am looking forward to making some big transformations and keeping up with the new habits.
My motivation: I have a friends wedding to go to in November. I want to look HOT for that wedding to get back at an old boyfriend (lmao). If that's not motivation for ya, I don't know what is.. Lol
Best of luck to you all

Hey Everyone!!

My name is Susan. I also go by Suzy. I am 24 years old, and just became a Mommy for the first time. I want to not only lose the baby weight, but I want to feel good about myself. Also, I would love to be an active Mommy for my son. He is inspiring me to lose this weight for good, and keep it off. I'm from NJ born and raised. I do need a support system besides my family, and I'm sure I'll find it here. :)

Hello :) my Name is Christine... I generally go by Krissy though. I am 24 years old. I am a stay at home caregiver for my grandmother, she has late stage alzheimers, and I have been her primary care giver since October 2005. Next month will be my 6th year, and the stress that it has added to my life kind of got in the way of making healthy choices, and exercising. I am getting married in November of this year, and though it is to late to make a big change before my wedding, I hope to be at least 30lbs lighter. I started this journey on August 19, 2011 I believe. I have lost 10lbs, but have not been doing the best that I can be doing. I need to get my butt in gear.

Today is the day to make a change.. not tomorrow..not in a week. TODAY

Hi, I'm Shannan and I am 23. I just graduated from college and realized that I didn't want to finish out my 20's chubby. Most of my teens were spent average...but in college my weight fluctuated tremendously - at one point creeping up to my heaviest of 180. I'm only 5'5 and am used to being abut 140-150 - so this was a big change for me. I lost over 15lbs on WW (and SlimQuick) and spent one Spring Break bikini clad in Lake Havasu, but have since gained it back. I joined SparkPeople to teach myself consistency and to find the support I needed to succeed. So far, i can't think of a better decision I've made. i still struggle everyday and I am an extremely slow loser - only down 8lbs, as I fall off the wagon and get back on every week...but what I've learned is to keep getting back up. I have not GAINED weight since SP and maintaining is a huge accomplishment. I've made tons of healthy changes which have carried me through my early struggles and I am excited to see where it all leads me, as I learn and grow in health.

I am 27, and would like (NEED) to lose 60 pounds. I have so much trouble starting! This time however, my bf and are are getting a gym membership together, so it won't just be me trying to lose weight while he watches tv and eats yummy junk food. Watching hi do that just makes me join him on the couch! I am not a morning person, but I am trying to get up a little earlier each day so I can go to the gym before work. I am honestly just too embarrassed at how out of shape I am right now to work out in front of other people. Any suggestions or support would really help! Oh, and I started a blog about my weight loss journey, please stop by and check it out.

Hi, I'm Kelly. I'm 27 years old and live in Phoenix, Arizona. I work as a graphic designer and social media consultant. In the last year, I've lost about 50 lbs, but have had SO much trouble getting back into an eating and exercise routine lately. I've put back on about 10-15 lbs and feel horrible. I tell myself everyday that I'm going to eat well and go to the gym...but then life gets in the way and I make excuses for making poor choices. My goal, like Melissa is to make it to 200 lbs. I have about 84(ish) more to go! Let's do this together! I'm looking for sparkbuddies and friends to help each other stay on track. We can do this!

My name is Melissa and I'm 22 years old. I live in North Carolina with my mom, brother and 9 dogs. I work in customer service at hhgregg (appliance & electronics retailer). I have a wonderful boyfriend, named Joshua. We will be together 4 years in this upcoming December. I have been overweight basically my whole life. I topped out in 2009 at 365lbs. I was a member of SP for about 7 months from Feb. 2010 to September. I lost about 50lbs with the help of SP- but my life took a turn around for the bad (I don't say worse, because something a lot worse could of happened) and I fell off the wagon. Some of you may know me from my previous profile (Liquidjewels07) as some of you have already found my new page and added me back. I decided that I'm tired of the weight. I've accumulated more health problems from the excess weight and the stress/drama I went through in October of last year. I started my new journey on August 1st, 2011. Luckily, when I started, I wasn't at my former 365- but I started in at 328lbs. My goal for now is to reach 200lbs. Once I get there, smaller numbers will seem more realistic. Well, I think that sums it up for me! =)
