I'd never heard of the "Little Dresses for Africa," and what a wonderful project! The "Britches for Boys" pattern looks easy enough, too. Or any of the patterns on that page would be so great for those kids.

Is your campground for adults or for children? When my granddaughter was about 10, her sewing class pieced together some scraps and made small pillowcases for the small pillows that they used to take to school. They also made shorts, but I'm pretty sure they were not made from the t-shirts like that britches pattern. I think they just decorated some t-shirts to match the shorts they made.

I love aprons, especially when I'm doing artwork. Big ones that cover up paint spills or to wipe my hands on. At an art gallery I recently bought a really cute store-bought canvas apron that was painted on the top by the artist.

Good luck with your projects!

I didn't make the mini cupcakes and I haven't come up with an idea to go with my blueberry theme. :( BUT my church ladies' decided to have a fellowship time together and to sew "Little Dresses for Africa".(You can find the pattern online under that name. These dresses are made out of pillow cases and Mardens was selling 2 pillow cases for $0.99. We ended up making over 30 dresses. The dresses we made actually looked better than the photo as a lot of our pillow cases were checked gingham with a pretty border. We used different colors for the arm binding and strap ties. My campground is going to have sewing classes this summer. Someone mentioned teaching how to do buttons and mending... :( I don't like to mend so I have a lot of mending that I could take to work on, but it really doesn't excite me. I am going to mention about using the pillow cases for making dresses and perhaps they will come up with another idea for using pillow cases. I thought that perhaps I could design an apron or something???What do you think? I haven't sewed for a long, long time as my sewing machine needs to be oiled and the tension adjusted, but when I did sew I make a lot of dresses and quilt tops.

What did you end up with, L_Drouin? Hope you found something to go with the blueberry theme that struck your fancy. :) Those mini-cupcakes with frosting and red hearts are something we all probably crave! I can understand why your daughter-in-law wanted some!

I apologize for not seeing this post earlier. My computer crashed on Feb. 11 and I had to get a new one. I'm still playing catch-up trying to read all the notices that came into my emails in-between computers. And I'm still trying to learn how to type on this keyboard without accidentally erasing everything I've written!

Valentine's Day is this Sunday and this Sunday is also our church's second Sunday luncheon. I'm planning to bake some mini cupcakes and frost and then decorate with red hearts. My daughter-in-law will be working but begged me to make her some.
Since my last post I bought another counted cross stitch project. It is blueberry themed so I am thinking about what else I can make to go with it. Got any ideas?

I've seen some jars filled with ingredients for various kinds of soups. You could add a pair of comfy socks and an interesting book and write something about curling up with a good book and a pot of homemade soup.

I also like the jars filled with ingredients for making brownies or gingerbread -- and the gift recipient just adds the egg and water. I have been drying basil, sage, rosemary and parsley from my garden to place in jars for gift-giving. I might make some herbed vinegars and oils, too, if I can find a few more tall jars/bottles. Last Christmas I received a jar of peppermint foot rub.

I hope you'll share some photographs of the gift baskets with us when you get them completed, THE_LITTLE_ LADY! Sounds like you already have some great ideas.

Hello! I am the_little_lady. I make gift baskets and have experimented with jars. This upcoming holiday I want to, for sure, make pizza lover baskets, coffee lover baskets and candle lover baskets...any other ideas? I would love some suggestions!

I've cut up some cakes before to make them look like bunny rabbits for Easter or Minnie Mouse for a birthday, and a football cake for my son. When my oldest daughter turned 40, my granddaughters and I cut a big 4-0 out of a cake.
I think one of the hardest things about cakes like this is icing them. After you slice the cakes those crumbly edges are so hard to cover with the icing!
I just did a search on Pinterest and put in the words "Cakes for Kids" and saw a lot of different creative ideas. If you don't have a Pinterest account I think you can still search without one.
Good luck!

I used to make the birthday cakes for my sister;s 5 children. They are all grown-up now. Do you have any cake ideas where you take a cake, cut it up, and frost it to look like an object? I am hoping for a grandchild as my son was married Sept. 14th 2 years ago....

Yesterday I finished stamping a monogram on some beautiful tags made by pulpart on 'ETSY". ( they have seeds planted in the tag so after my guest are at the wedding they can take them home and plant them. This way they'll always be able to remember my daughter. I'm treading them with lavender lace tieing them to a small potpourri of lavender with a white feather. Then they will be used as a napkin ring. I have a little more to do but it really is turning out lovely.
When things are done with this wedding everything will be posted on my new website for my business. (wedding and party accessories). It's not up yet but will let you know. Thanks so much for asking

Well, I guess my Crafts at the moment are whatever is needed for my daughters wedding. I'm in the process of finishing her centerpiece. It's a wreath with homemade flowers all around with feathers and pearls. It's alot of fun. and very easy if anyone wants to start one. (beautiful) emoticon

working on knitted baby caps for newborns at hospital and home for pregnant women, some crocheted afghans, and crocheted angels for tree top ornaments

Is that a desert rose on your picture? I have one, and starting 100 from seeds right now

Those be wrist warmers. =D
I don't really use a pattern, I just knit a flat piece and sew up the sides leaving a hole for the thumb. You can use a loom too. Nice and easy and cute! ^_^

I know that it sounds real early to say christmas, but when you are on a fixed income you have to start early when you make your own gifts.
KURO07, where did you get a pattern for wrist warmers? My daughter-in-law was looking for arm warmers.
