Hi all! I just joined SparkPeople today and the first thing I did was search for a "craft" team! I love crafts and will try any kind. Unfortunately, crafting obligations sometimes interfere with my healthy-living goals. I'm working on a balance, though.

Currently, I crochet, do collages, paper crafts, scrapbooking, beaded jewelry, beginner's polyclay, holiday and home decor and have recently ventured into pyrography.

I can't wait to go check out the rest of the team page and see what everyone is working on!

~Kim

Hi! I just found and joined this team last night. I've been on Spark for a little over a week. I'm always finding new craft projects to get interested in, the problem is getting around to actually trying them! emoticon I just got instructions for making pendants and magnets out of glass, so I'm looking forward to trying that as soon as I get all the supplies I need.

How cool is that??

I love all arts and crafts, and have about a gazillion craft blogs favorited that I like to keep up with! What I do mostly is making figures and/or art dolls with polymer clay.

I haven't made anything for a while though, because of the back pain I'd been living with, but I just had back surgery (bone removed, disks replaced, and rods installed), so hopefully I'll feel like being crafty soon!

So happy to find you all! I'm sure this will be great fun!

xoxo

Hi I'm Charlotte, I live in Washington State. I just discovered your site, and I love to do crafts. I am in the middle of a project right now ( I should be working on it instead of on the computer!). I belong to a bulldog club, and they are having their dog show next week. I am creating some craft items for their auction and for their "Bulltique" for fund raising. I am painting some little wood footstools to have bulldog faces and bodies. I am also painting a leash hook board with a dog's face and saying " Do you want a Walk?". I have to have them done by Monday night, so I need to get back to them, but looking forward to checking in on this site real often. I am anxious to see what everyone else is doing!
Charlotte

After a very long time, I thought I would check in and update my status, and say Hi to anyone still there who remember's me. I am doing well, have had some setbacks, but not in the weight loss department. My goal has always been my Sparkpeople name, Iwillbe145. I am able to see the goal line now, I weighed in this morning at 152. I still have nearly 10 lbs to go, and I can see by my belly that I will want to continue loosing until I have a waistline again, but I am so happy to have come so far.

Hi! I'm Terri. I am 49 with 2 kids, a 22 year old daughter and a 16 year old son. I have a 3 month old grandson (daughter's) and a son-in-law. I have 2 pugs and 2 cats at home too. I have a man in my life, he's Canadian. He's my Mr. Wonderful. :) I am waiting for a visa to come through so that I can be with him. It's going to take awhile.

I knit, crochet, quilt, make cloth dolls and am now getting interested in dollhouses and making mini things. I want to join one of your challenges. I think the 2 items a month is a good one for me. :)

Hi,

I started on spark people June27th after two short starts. I'm 53 but will be 54 in October. I grew up in Portland Or. but have lived in Vanc. Wa. since I was 19. I've been married for 29 years and have a 28 year old son and 25 year old daughter. Spark people has been a great place to get started on losing weight and meeting so many great people.

I looked up this team because I love arts and crafts. I went to The design floral institute to learn the basics of flower arranging. I planned on creating silk flower arrangements. After going to the craft store and browsing I decided I'd really like to try making jewelry. I don't know much about it. The start up cost, the best way to really learn, how to price or how I want to sell them yet. I can't go to craft shows etc. and I don't know much about creating a site online. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm also going to take a water color class with a friend. I love water color. I have so many ideas but haven't settled into doing one thing at a time!

Hi! My name is Cathy. I am married to a wonderful man named Ronnie. We have been married for 24 years. We have 2 daughters. Katie is almost 20, married since October 2007 and has a daughter that will be 2 soon. She also is pregnant with their second child that we will find out on Wednesday what it is. Our other daughter is 17 and will be a senior in high school next year.
I love to do all kinds of crafts, although I don't seem to get to them very often. I went to cropping night yesterday and completed 4 pages on the zoo of my granddaughter, daughter and I! Also, have been covering cans with scrapbook paper and making gift containers with them. Also, have tons of material to make something with?! And, I used to do cross stitch and crochet some. Have made a few bracelets, but not lately. Looking forward to sharing project ideas and low carb diet ideas!

Hi,

I was invited by JADZEAMAY to be part of this group. I didn't realize there were so many groups here that I'd love to part of. Hopefully, I'll have time for them all.

I am a SAHM of two girls (8 and 3) and the caregiver to my 84 yo grandmother. I also care for my twin sister's two boys (10 and 7). We love to do arts and crafts and are always looking for something new. The kids do a/c and enter them in our county fair every summer. Our fair pays good premiums and the kids end up with $200 +/- in prize money.

I also teach children's classes at church. And, I'm open to all crafts that are good for kids... especially nursery (for VBS) and preschool (for Sunday night this summer).

I have been teaching myself to knit using techniques in books and on the internet. I also bead jewelry. I used to do a lot of cross-stitch and plastic canvas, but I haven't had enough time to get it all in.

For more on me, check out my spark page.

Hi Joan I hope everything goes well and that you get better. I also hope you get to get back to doing what you like to do the most that you can't do now. I want to tell you I love the pic. I love tweety Bird. If I ever get to have a baby the room will be decorated in baby Looney Toons. More Tweety than any. I think the reason I like Tweety the most is because the cat is always trying to get him and he always gets away. and he is so stweet.
Have a good day.

Hi! My name is Nicole. I live in Indiana. I work in a factory 40-55 hours a week, 3rd shift! I have 3 kids: daughter soon to be 18, son soon to be 12, and son just turned 8.

I have issues with my thyroid. The medications I take have stopped the rapid weight gain but I have had problems losing weight. I am on my feet walking and carrying sheets of steel all night at work. I exersice every morning and I cook, clean house, and play with my kids in the evenings. I have finally started losing weight. I joined SP to help me make better choices on what I eat. I LOVE fast food.

When I have the time I make jewelry, do wood burnings, paint, cross stitch, and I'm always doing something to our victorian home. If I could find the time I would love to learn how to quilt.

Thank you for inviting me to join your group!

Hi. I live in Greece and love making various crafts as a hobby. I enjoy learning new crafts and ideas.

There are times I make and sell and other times I enjoy making as gifts or just for my home.

At the moment I am making cinnamon crosses with flowers for easter, as well as decorating candles.

Hi, I'm Lauren. I'm 21 years old, from Michigan. I'm a student at EMU studying biology.

Most of my crafts are jewelry related. I also like to paint. I mostly work with sterling silver and gem stones. I very very much like metal-smithing. There's just something that pleases me knowing that I can make an entire ring from scratch, or a pendant and nobody else on the planet has it but me. I'm currently posting some of my work in my photo gallery on my spark page.

Hello I'm Jeana and I'm a 24 year old female from Illinois. I am the mother to a handsome little boy, Christian (born Feb 13, 2003). I enjoy spending time with my son, family and friends, reading, watching movies, listening to music, going to listen to live music, and collecting oriental antiques. I work as a CNA at a nursing home in my town, but most likely going back to school in the Fall. Right now the plan is to major in Office Technology.

I have been here on sparkpeople once before, but at the time things didn't work out for me. So I figured I'd start afresh, and really want to lose this weight. I am at the heaviest I have ever been and it's depressing. I was actually looking at old blogs from this time last year, and I was 20 lbs lighter. So I really want to lose this weight. I can do alright with working out, if I go at least a couple times a week, but the hardest is eating right.

I love crafts, and every once in awhile I'll get bit from the craft bug, which I have lately actually. I mostly just like to paint things, like boxes that you can buy at craft stores, and decorate them, and then use them for storage. Current project (well when my son leaves to go to his dad's for about 10 days) is going to get letters for my son's initials and paint them and then hang them up in his room.

Thank you Kelly for leaving me a comment to come check this sparkteam out. I think I'm going to like it here :)

Your right the realization that they can do it is evident even in their walk when they go to meet the parents. At the Cooking camp the kids had to make food for the local homeless shelter. The first day they made burritos from scratch including the shells.
Then they made overnight french toast, which they sampled for breakfast the next morning. That day they made banana bread also. on the last day the made pretzels. I was us aware that one of the young men (5th grade) made pretzels for the county fair every year. He was so proud that he could teach the other kids. He just glowed with pride. I was so proud of them. I can't wait for the sewing club.

Thanks for the encouragement. There are a lot of blessings in taking care of a parent, and they offset the difficulties (like never being alone). Isn't it amazing how excited the kids are to learn simple skills! They've never threaded a needle, kneaded bread, or learned basic outdoor skills. Amazing! And isn't it great when they take off with it? One of the kids in my class spun a whole spindle of yarn, and is weaving a belt with it. Another went home and served homemade Syrian bread to her family! They were so proud!

Angora 4 welcome You need to take care of your self or you will be good for no one including yourself.
I hope you are able to gain respit help.
I may call on you for encouragement alot soon. My mother will be moving in with my husband and myself.
I too love working with the kids. I run mini VBS camps through out the year for the community kids.
We just did a baking camp, in April we will be doing a sewing camp and during the summer a nature craft camp is planned. I may not get a lot done but the relationships formed with these kids is so rewarding.

Thank you JADZEAMAY for the invite. I think I really need this group to stay sane!

I used to be a full time homesteader/fiber artist, and did the show circuit with hand dyed wool/angora/mohair from our critters, handspun yarn, and handknit/handwoven items; had a line of pen-and-ink style greeting cards; and made whatever was in season on the farm: nature baskets, corn husk dolls, etc. Also herb wreaths, potpourri, etc. Used to teach classes, make kits, you know the routine.

Well, fast forward to today, no more shows, no classes, no guild meetings, and I'm living in town. I'm now a full-time caretaker for my mother, now 97. I haven't done anything creative in the four years I've been here, my life has been reduced to trying to keep Mom happy. Which of course, no one can do. So, this year, I decided to quite whining about what I can't do, get off my fanny, and do what I could.

I've agreed to teach the homeschool co-op this year. So far this semester the teens' "Hands on History" class has ground grain, churned butter, baked bread, shelled popcorn, made homemade ginger ale, made snowshoes from brush clippings, made drop spindles, carded and spun wool, made backstrap looms and wove on them. The elementary children's Art Class has studied drawing techniques, done some perspective work, and three weeks of color theory. We still have sculpture, foil tooling, papermaking, sand cast candles and calligraphy to do. The teens are still waiting to dip candles, make soap, make a homestead rope bed and straw tick, and make quill pens and pokeberry ink!

That has felt good, but I still haven't done any personal art projects. I'm looking forward to motivation to get going again. I don't just need a diet, I need to regain my life. Being a caretaker didn't take that away, it just changed it. Now I need to actively choose what I CAN do. Thanks for the encouragement to continue broadening my life to include things I love!

Hi Debbie from MO, I, Rose Ann from upstate NY (capital area). I also crochet,I do goard work, and love to to nature crafts as well as sew. I have little time to do any as I care for my 20month old grandson every day. And work part time at our church in between.

I was sort of iffy about joining groups like this but my daughter who is a very wise woman encouraged me to do so. And she was right I find myself being much more aware of what I'm eating and exercise.
I don't get on as much because we have diel-up.
welcone aboard our group and well done on your progress.

Wow, you sound busy! Welcome to SparkPeople and you've found the perfect place to get the support and encouragement to reach your goals. I don't think I could have come this far without my SparkTeams to cheer me on and cheer me up, depending on the day!

I'm quite interested in herbs as well. I love gardening but was born with a brown thumb so I'm having to learn to overcome that. :) What kind of dried food projects will you be working on?

Hi there! I'm a freelance artist (creating clipart for scrapbookers and crafters), and have my own online store which allows me to set my own hours and be a full-time mom and wife. I also write articles (craft projects) several times each year for a magazine. I really love it, and am looking forward to learning more and sharing ideas with people on this board.

Thanks for inviting me!

Hey, I'm new. Thanks for the invite Kelly! I'm an artist and (part time) art teacher. I've been recently thinking about becoming a stampin' up demonstrator, although I do not scrap book. I do like to do other things though. Right now I am really into fiber arts, specificly doll making. (you can see at least one of my dolls on my SP page. I need to upload more pics, bit for now that is all I have on here. If you go to my myspace page, you can see more.) i've struggled with my weight all of my life... or part of it. I've had thin times and fat times. But when i was thin, i thought I was fat... go figure.
Well, i'll be checking in more later. I just wanted to say "hi."
Oh, and if anyone out there is a stampin up demonstrator, I'd like to pick your brain about what you honestly think of that as a line of work.
Rock on!

Thanks for the invitation JADZEAMAY :) Looks like you've been one busy lady (not that I'm surprised :)

My name is Carol and I'm originally from OH but now live in TX with my wonderful husband and have been here 4 1/2 years now. We met on a church single's site and he's the greatest blessing in my life, along with a niece who is still in OH.

I haven't worked on any of my crafts for several years because most everything is packed away. I have post polio and have quite a bit of trouble with my polio leg/ankle/foot so I've had problems trying to get things set up since we moved here 3 years ago.

I crochet and cross stitch and have been painting buildings for my christmas village since 1985. Have lots of them done and still have lots to do and maybe someday soon, I will dig back into the painting, which I very much enjoy. I did ceramics many years ago but haven't worked on anything like that for quite some time, although it is much like the christmas village buildings, just a different material.

I also dabbled on my genealogy in the early 70s and then really dug my heels in in the early 80s when I lived in court houses and cemeteries several times a year. Did all that up until 2003 when I resigned as secretary of our reunion in WV, married my wonderful husband 3 months later and moved to TX.

I have lots of things that need to be sorted, filed and some things thrown away and have lots of copies of old pictures that I need to get sorted and organized again. I want to get into scrapbooking so I can get them all set up in albums and I absolutely love being creative with things like that or on my computer where I play with things (like this website where I change my pictures/backgrounds every now and then :)

For now I'm not doing much of anything because I'm fighting bronchitis and am on medication which makes me very drowsy. Only got up a while ago to drink more water and try to get my quota in for today (I made it :) I need to take more cough syrup which will knock me out for the night so will check in later, hopefully tomorrow.

Carol :)

Hi Everyone. Thanks for the invite Jadzeamay. I feel right at home here just like on the Artists Team. I'm a trainer by profession but love all kinds of arts and crafts. Right now quilting and photography are at the top but still do some drawing and painting (mostly oils). I love ceramics but that is on the backburner right now.

Hi, thanks for the invite to join JADZEAMAY. I'm Charlette from Southern Oregon. I'm a just turned 59 year old grandma of 4, soon to be 5. I've done all sorts of crafts over the years. Now I mostly sew. Just about anything that comes along. I am doing some cross stitch. I need to make 2 Christmas stockings by this Christmas. They are taking way longer than I thought. My husband does stained glass. That's his work you see on my sparkpage. He also does all sorts of woodworking. If I ask for it he will make it.

Hi! Thank you for inviting me to join this team JADZEAMAY. I live just west of Portland,OR. I am a quilter and all around craftoholic. It seems a little crazy for me to join the team right now as I have been leaving other teams for lack of time. I've made more serious commitments to a couple of teams and my caregiving duties have just increased significantly at home. Perhaps it is just that. I need to keep my foot in the door with something that nourishes my spirit so that I can keep going with the heavier commitments. I have found in the past that short changing that creative part of me is not a good thing for my well being. Tapping into my creative side is a spiritual respite for me and often my only relief when things get tough. I am not sure at this point how active I will be for awhile until things settle down, but I am grateful to belong to the team and I'll pop in as often as I can. Thanks for being here!
Alice

My name is Verda I am 35 years old and the proud mother of 1. I have been fighting my weight my whole life. I am now at the very heaviest that I have ever been. I have an8 month old baby girl with achondroplasia and she is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I am afraid that if I don't do something about my weight now that I won't be around for her and that is not acceptable. I want to be healthy for her and myself so that I can set good examples for her.
I love arts and crafts and anything artistic at all, in fact I am a cake decorator. That also makes losing weight very hard( goodies at your fingertips at all times). Since my daughter has been I have been unable to work so I am not as active as I used to be. So I really hope that I will be able to stick to this program and utilize all of its wonderful assets.

I mostly do scrapbooking, crocheting, knitting, and counted cross stitch. I took up knitting when I quit smoking in october, and now all I think about is yarn, and what I can knit next. Also any resources would also be great to increase my knitting library. Well hello.

Hi my name is Carol. I live in North Central Idaho. I love to craft but don't have as much time as use to. I work at a school as a parapro. I also organize a Christmas craft day where I invite all the area children to come and make christmas crafts. (I would love suggestions for next year.)

Hi! I'm Patty and I'm from Michigan (da UP!) I do lots of knitting (my bf rolls his eyes every time I come home w/ more yarn) and I got into jewelry making a few years ago w/ kiddie bracelets and it just exploded until I decided I was tired of waiting for craft shows to come up and ventured online and got a business licence. I joined spark mostly because I'm out of shape and don't want to become overweight like my mom and older sister are (which I partially blame on them having children because that just seems to mess a woman's body up and makes it hard to get back to the pre-pregnancy size.) My bf and I recently got our own place and w/ a new job it has been hard finding time to exercise (other than trying to beat my co-workers to sweeping and mopping the kitchen.) but I try to eat some what healthy.
I love to try new things when I see something that interests me.

Hi, I'm a (ecstatic) mom of one precious little girl, and I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. Years ago, I finally reached my goal, and then we started In-vitro after years of miscarriages. It failed, but the stress and hormones left me back at square one. Two years ago, after giving up we got a miracle and now I am determined to lose the weight to be around for my daughter. I am a craftaholic, I love trying new crafts as well as working on my favorites. I only recently got into stained and fused glass and we now have a workshop complete with kiln, ringsaw etc. I also do sandblasting and integrate it into my fusing. I needlework, make bead and wire jewelry, love polymer clay, scrapbooking (lots of pix now to scrapbook :)), sew and attempt generally anything that I see that interests me. I don't sell my crafts because I cannot focus on any one thing long enough to make an inventory. :)

Hi! My name is Jess, and I live in Vermont. I, *gulp* am a craft-a-holic. I've come to terms with my weakness...and can't wait to share with and get ideas from all you folks. I joined Spark because I want to be happier in my own body, and healthier overall. I lost about seven pounds, and then lost my motivation. I have a really hard time getting to the gym, so I haven't weighed myself in almost two months. :( I"m scared to see how the scale has gone up!

"All your life you are told the things you cannot do. All your life they will say you're not good enough or strong enough or talented enough; they will say you're the wrong height or the wrong weight or the wrong type to play this or be this or achieve this. THEY WILL TELL YOU NO, a thousand times no, until all the no's become meaningless. All your life they will tell you no, quite firmly and very quickly. AND YOU WILL TELL THEM YES." (-Nike Ad)

Hi. I am a divorced mother of 3. (24,20 and 17) I live in northern Wisconsin and my full-time is selling my crafts at craft shows. Fun job.

I have been really overweight for many years and it got worse when I started crafting full time. Too many hours sitting.

I joined spark because I want to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle.

My name is Kelly and I live in Tallmadge, Oh. I have been heavy for as long as I can remember. My husband and I really want to lose weight, so we are trying to make a lifestyle change because we also want to have children. I am a very creative person by nature. I have my degree in photography and that has been a passion of mine. I also work with stained glass and fused glass. I will be taking some painting one stroke classes too. I am always thinking on my ideas or when I see something I like I am always trying to figure out how to make it or change something up. My husband and I finished our basement last winter and we also made a studio, so I can work on my many arts and craft projects. I enjoy sharing ideas, so this is why I started this group. I like all types of crafts!
