Great job! I know what it's like to be down with an achilles injury, I was out for 2 weeks with mine back in March. Right after my first race, very discouraging!
Way to come back though!

Thanks all...working with a group for advancing to the Half. I was down for three weeks in June due to an Achilles injury. That's healed. I will be running 7-8 miles tomorrow and perhaps 9 miles next Saturday with the workout team of about 40-45 people. Great bunch and great coach. Stronger than ever, but still have some work to do for a sub-two hour half.

OMG, a 10 mile race 6 months in advance of a HM. How shocking. (If only everyone prepared for a HM so sensibly!)

I tried to send you a spark goodie as recognition for setting such a positive example for others. But got "The user is not accepting goodies at this time." Denied! Please enable goodies so I can send you one!

PS: There is a spark team to support 10M runners. I encourage everyone training for a HM to join the 10M team and support that distance. It's a great distance for those that have mastered 10K but not yet the HM.

Congrats on your achievement! That's awesome.
You are going to be more than fine for your half in October. Keep doing what you're doing, and you will easily get that sub 2!

You sound like you're in a GREAT position to do well in your half.

Ten miles is a nice race distance. Far enough to feel far, but you miss the last 3 mils of a half. :)

Just finished the Capitol City Classic 10-mile event as a warm-up to the half-marathon I will be running in October 2014. Took 1st in my division (65-69 Year) with a PR 1:36:40. Looking to do a sub-2 Hour Half.
