Welcome to SP and our team! Sorry that no one has answered you before now - I'm kinda surprised, actually. We must all be wrapped up in the beginning of fall stuff!

I had no idea that there was a link between celiac disease and osteo. I'll do some research and post some information for the other team members. I'm always interested in learning new things that can help us be more careful of our health.

I've looked at your SparkPage and see that you've found several teams that interest you. That's great! Every team has its own pace and flavor, so it may take a month or so to find the ones that fit you. (hopefully, we're one of them!)

Those who think they have no time for a healthy lifestyle will sooner or later will have to find time for illness.

I'm new to sparkpeople, sort of. Used it many years ago but have gained a lot of weight and I'm back. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis of the spine and osteopenia of the hips at the ripe old age of 32. I have celiac disease to thank for that. It's not bad enough to need medication so my prescription is get enough calcium, preferably most, if not all, through diet, and weight bearing exercises. I've been a runner for just over three years now so I think I have that covered. I'm currently 33 so this is still a fairly new diagnosis and it does not run in my family. Both my mom and grandmother had better bone scans than me. So, that's basically me. Oh, and I'm terrified of falling on my butt, lol. Nice to 'meet' you all!

Working on a healthier, happier me.
