Hi, I'm Camy and I'm back at SP after a long time away. I hope I can do a better job this time losing weight and getting back into shape! I'm almost done with the rough draft of my latest novel and I hope to get it done by the end of the month.

Hi All,
I'm Springtime, and I've just gotten back into Sparkpeople after a long hiatus. I decided I wanted to join a group that is not weight-centric, something that will help me reach one or more of my other goals, and this one seemed like a good fit for me now. I'm looking forward to helping the team reach the 1 page a day goal.

Hello, all. I'm Debbie and am just rejoining SparkPeople. I'm starting completely fresh with a new account. My life is a lot different from when I joined the first time, so I'm going through the community groups looking for things that fit my life as it is now. This is one of those areas.

I self-published a book last year (using KDP - Amazon) about a major two-month RV trip I'd been planning for years. It's book one of a two-book series. Book two is the trip itself. I had been hoping to get it published in December or January, but I've been having a hard time writing every day. I don't even have an excuse. I retired from the Air Force in August and am now home with the kids. Even that's not an excuse, because they are 12 and 14. I have lots of hours during the day where I could sit down and write. I'm just having a hard time adjusting to being retired.

I was full of visions of how much I was going to get done in retirement since I would now have all the time in the world. Instead I've been a lump. My weight has been going up and my book hasn't been getting written.

Coming back to SparkPeople will help me address problem #1. Hopefully joining this group will help me with problem #2. I tend to do better when I feel the accountability of having to report my progress and challenges. So, "Hi!"

Hi everyone, just joined this group, because it's the #1 writing team, and seeems active. My goals this year include more writing, and I'll be posting a sparkblog about that, maybe today, laying it out in "SMART" fashion. The main outlet for my writing will be blogging outside of Spark, in support of online entrepreneurship and business, maybe also some freelance 'content' creation. I also may work on some fiction, separately, & my personal journaling.

I'm a STE(A)My-Renaissance kinda gal w a boho DivineFem/witchy aesthetic (apparently millenials are all about 'aesthetic' so I'm using their language as I'll be competing against them for readers online, instead of saying 'vibe') as my 55 y.o. self first was going to say....
emoticon
I have a degree in English Lit but have taught science, math, and digital arts & am re-updating my current coding skills. I also craft/diy, garden, do needle-arts, am a paid political organizer sometimes, do light elder care, was a vegetarian for 25 years, go for walks/hikes, may re-become a runner, plan to also re-start my erstwhile yoga practice, and a new goal for me this year is martial arts.

In terms of reading, I prefer sci-fi, (emphasis on the sci), cyberpunk, dystopian (though my appetite for that is filled in real life these last couple of years), also non-fiction, especially diy and gardening, and—new to me for past decade and a half—biography. I've also had past osbessions with mystery/who-dun-it's and lesbian romance, though not so much in past decade and a half. Mostly, though, I read online, especially social media and political articles. some phyical sciences, some esoterica, some sustainability and homesteading, and lots of diy.

My most consistent writing throughout my life has been journaling, including Artist's Way 'morning pages' (though I usually tried to make them worthwhile to re-read, and mine for ideas), though lately life's been fairly slow and uneventful, relatively, for the last decade, so I haven't journaled as much, but this year promises to be more engaging!

Happy 2019! May we all reach our writing, health, and other goals!

Smart thinking.

Facebook has wizards to guide you through creating a group. Or you can search to see if there's a group already covering what you want to talk about, and join that one instead.

I had not thought of the facebook group. Not even sure I know how to do that. My facebook tends to be for a couple of games to hide when real life gets to be to much. Right now I am blogging on my spark page my journey to living a Mediterranean diet.

Today I already blew it. The emotional dragon reared its ungly head and little debbie cakes ruled. Upset? sort of but once I eat it I cannot get it back so will work on adjusting what I eat the rest of the day.

Hi, Angela! Instead of blogging, have you tried doing a Facebook group (and tie it in with Instagram or Twitter). Most folks (in my opinion) are already on Facebook and don't want to leave to go read a blog somewhere.

Wow, you are one busy lady! Good luck with your doctorate and your writing.

Hello, I am Angela (a.k. a. C.D. Cubb). I have self-published a book Titled When Humpty Shattered and the hope among the pieces. (it is available through amazon and Westbow publishing. I chose to write under a pen name as the topic is a personal perspective look at serving God despite domestic violence. I am currently writing a second book titled Dear Mom....it is a look at the five stages of grief through a personal perspective of losing my mother 2 years ago.

I have tried blogging and became quickly discouraged. Also I believe the problem for me could be timing. I am also finishing a dissertation for a PhD program so I can graduate with a doctorate in psychology.

I am complete discouraged with weight loss. This past November I was placed on the Mediterranean diet. Let me tell you this is so discouraging as I was facing the holidays. I will admit after the first of the year I was getting my act together and then had a week where I was out of town helping a loved one which included many meals eating out where my options were extremely limited.

Life has been full of obstacles lately. Including having to assume guardianship of my father and my job ending earlier this month. The greatest obstacle I face is that I am an emotional eater and want the comfort foods I want; which usually include triple layer chocolate cake and homemade baked macaroni and cheese. Both good in moderation when eating is under control. Neither good when stressed out and emotionally needed comfort. I also have fibromyalgia which is a constant source of distress....again moves me to emotional eating. I even see a destroying cycle as I sit here.

Desparately seeking hope in weight loss, Angela

I've been writing off and on my whole life, but have habitually hidden my pieces. As a kid, I grew up in a very practical, Protestant work ethic home where anything that wasn't immediately useful wasn't worth doing. If my mother found something I had written, she either laughed at it or got angry about it. I learned to hide my work then, and am now, at the age of 69, working at getting past that. It takes a lot of courage. Almost as much courage as trying to lose 70 pounds at my age.

I have written newsletter articles at various times, but that never has felt like "real" writing. It has always been short and sweet, with the only goal to get information across in an intriguing way.

Last year, I entered a 250 word piece in a contest by our local public library, and actually got Honorable Mention! Entered another one this year, but it seems to have fallen into the abyss. Well, it happens.

Last year I also did the NaNoWriMo in November, and am signed up to do it again. Last year I hit the 50,000 words, but it was not usable. I found I just can't write well that way. I liked being with other people, though, all of us writing. I especially liked the "write-ins," and plan to do those again this year. I'm not going to stress about the word count this year. Instead, I am just going to use it as a motivator to keep writing.

I am currently working on a 3000 word piece for the Unbound Book Festival, here in Columbia MO. Winners get published in an anthology. I'm not holding my breath, but I am writing. That's what counts, right?

Perhaps I will get up the courage soon to return to the local writer's group. I went one time, about three years ago, and was intimidated by the quality of the work being shared. I felt so outclassed that I wimped out and never returned.

The upshot here is that I could use some support not only to regain my health, but to keep me going with the writing as I attempt to get to the point where I have a real contribution to submit somewhere that isn't a freebie contest.

Wish me luck.

Hi everyone! I am in my 30's from Michigan. I've lost over 100 lbs. before before the PTSD. My blood sugars forced me to wake up and try to save my own life again but i am still struggling a lot. I'm hoping that being on SP will help me stay motivated as it did in the past. Being on teams with supportive friendly people makes everything fun and a lot easier.

Hello!

I've been a member for a while but didn't get a chance to be active. I am committing more to writing than Spark these days. Still on the weight loss train but also trying to push the writing harder and get some backlog cleared and moving as I am traditionally published and I want to be again. :)

Hello! I have been an inactive member of the group for a long time, but I decided to jump start my running program this week and so visited my SparkTeams for the first time in a while. I write Christian romance under my real name, Camy Tang, and Christian Regency romance under a pen name, Camille Elliot.

I really could use more motivation to get my writing done. I want to get my next Regency romance done by April, but the past year, I just haven't gotten a lot done. I hope that the new year will help me both in my health and my writing!

I have been in this group, but not active, for a long while. I have been wanting to write a book for about 9 years. I have the idea that keeps growing and evolving. However I have very little to show. 2 kids, a series of tragedies, and a move over seas have been taking a lot of time and energy... life happens lol I need to spend some serious time to outline and fill in all the gaps. This year, I'm going to make it more of a priority then it has been in the past.

Hi everyone!

My name is BD. I joined the group a while ago, but I don't think I ever posted in any of the threads. I'm a lurker by nature, so I'll probably continue to hang out quietly adding points to the team with my daily spins :)

I'm Paula, I live in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul) of Minnesota. I just took a new job (at age 64) where they will pay me to write! Essentially, I will help the employer earn a huge award, a national designation that requires a 1500 page document highlighting their accomplishments. On top of all that, I just accepted a book deal -- 150 pages aimed at my peers, nurses, on Critical Thinking. Life is good. . .Now, if I could just lose 50 pounds!

The fact that I can plant a seed and it becomes a flower, share a bit of knowledge and it becomes another's, smile at someone and receive a smile in return, are to me continual spiritual exercises.

I'm Abigail Sharpe, have a couple of romance books out though Grand Central. Working on a third. I live in Florida and just got touched by Hermine.

I started writing in 2006 because I read a book that was so bad, I thought, I could do better! And now I know how hard that is... :)

HI! I'm Bekah. I have one published book currently out and am working on a few more. But, before I finish writing those, I am working on my doctoral studies in special education to give some weight to my name.
