Hi everyone. My name is Nickie. I joined the group because I have Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum (ACC). If you haven't heard of it I will explain. ACC is the absence of the connective tissue (the CC) between the left and right hemispheres. It is kinda rare; only about 1 million people in the whole world have been officially diagnosed. There are still many out there that do not know that they have it and probably never will. ACC is connected to autism and autism spectrum disorder. It also causes seizures and developmental/learning delays in many. I am one of a handful that have been able to lead fairly "normal" lives with only small delays in learning and development and no seizures. My only real symptom is the chronic unrelenting headache. I am approaching my 33rd birthday and I cannot remember a day that I was absolutely headache free. It never goes away, though some days it is greatly diminished and I barely notice. Life with ACC has been interesting and thankfully I have found a wonderful email group to share triumphs and struggles with everyday. To the parents on the list I (and other adults like me) have become sort of a ray of hope for their children. We also have a Facebook page. So this is me.
