Hi... so happy to see this team on SP. I was diagnosed with Chiari 1 malformation with syringomyelia in July. Thought I had a pinched nerve-- ha! Had decompression surgery on 9/23/11. Developed hydrocephalus in October and had a VP shunt put in. Feeling much more like myself again, although I still have most of my syringomyelia symptoms.

I'm inspired by the stories I have read here :)

Hi. I have just spent the last 8 months recovery from Chiari Decompression surgery with complications of cerebral spinal fluid leak and bacterial meningitis. 1 surgery turned into 5 surgeries with my first surgery being April 6/11 and my last one being December 5/11. I have basically been sedentary for this time. Since my last surgery (to remove the peritineal shunt) I have started to get my energy back. Now I need to undo what the last 8 months has done. Weight gain.
