Hi, I'm Deb and I am Bipolar 1, with a tendency to be more manic than depressive. We WELCOME you with open arms. I hope that we will see you on the Chat thread, so that we can encourage you along the way !! I haven't been in the hospital for years, but I know what it is like. I have lost my weight and am in maintenance now, but it took a couple of years for it all to come off and start staying off. Meds are usually a huge reason for weight gain in those with depressive disorders. My Wellbutrin doesn't cause weight gain, it actually can do the exact opposite. Of course, everyone has a different regimen and different meds are better for different people and circumstances. I can't take Zoloft. I do much better without a mood stabilizer like Depokote. I took that for years and it just didn't do anything for me. I hope to see you in the forums and on the threads. Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon

Hi, I was diagnosed Bipolar 1 Schizoaffective since I was 28. I'm now 60. I've not been in a hospital for 22 years. I'm always struggling with weight. I know my meds are part to blame.
I haven't given up hope that I can lose weight!!!

Hi! I'm Diane, also known as Rissa, and I've been bipolar all my life (diagnosed at age 7). I've been hospitalized so many times I've lost count (probably 14-15), and I've been out for a year and a few months. I'm doing good on losing weight and staying stable with my diet (ketogenic) but it's not for everyone, and your doctors need to know if you start because it can make you manic with antidepressants.

Heya,

I'm in my 30's and I have had symptoms of Bipolar 1 since I was a teenager. I'm coming off of 3 recent hospitalizations and am determined to get healthier mind and body.
