Welcome! I'm sorry for the loss of your husband... that must have been really hard on you. *hugs* I have the opposite problem with eating- when I'm depressed I don't want to eat and when I'm hypomanic I'm hungry all the time. Good luck with your journey! We are here for you :)

Hello everyone!
I live in the middle of nowhere in central New Mexico. I have been off and on Spark for years, the first time losing about fifty pounds.After my husband died in 2013 I started to put those pounds back on. And kept putting on the pounds. Well, 90 pounds later I am here. I am 31 but have been the same 230 pounds for the last year.

Between having bipolar disorder, rheumatoid arthritis, and a love for food, I have the deck slightly off my side. The arthritis is pretty darn well controlled, but the bipolar is...variable.

So this time around I am using Nutrisystem for the first two months to get my body used to portion control again, then switching back to regular food again. I love to cook, so I have to reign in my tendencies to cook decadently and eating lots of veggies. Two weeks in to the Nutrisystem and I am ready to get cooking, but I am still getting reoriented to how much I should be eating every day.

One sticking point I have is that when I go manic I don't want to eat--too many things to do, thoughts to think, and restlessness galore. On the depression side the only thing I want to do is eat. Either side is bad for business. Knowing real portion sizes and timing of eating is good for me.

Anyway, I am going to take my not-quite-manic self and start on another project: a new blog post.
