Thanks! I've been a cutter in the past as well and every so often the urge comes, but like you I wait it out without harming myself. So I know where you're coming from on that

Welcome! I went through what I call "Medication Roulette" for years. Right now I'm pretty stable, but I'm sleeping too late. I can't fall asleep before midnight, and I sleep until about noon. I'm on disability as well... I was chronically suicidal for 3 years in college. I would check myself into the hospital when the suicide urge was too bad. For a few years I was a cutter... I haven't in almost 8 years but the urge comes back sometime. I just try and ignore it. Anyway, looking forward to getting to know you better!

Good Morning! emoticon

We hope you will find support and compassion with this group. Swing over to our July Chat and just jump in the conversation, we welcome "newbies".

Your story is very similar to mine. I can certainly relate to being misdiagnosed and treated for only half of what was going on as well as GAD and anxiety. Looking forward to getting to know you!

Hi everyone!!I'm entering my third week with SP and so far I've lost 5 pounds(!) All my life I knew something wasn't quite right with me, and when I was in my early 40s I was mistakenly diagnosed with depression and generalized anxiety order. I was medicated accordingly, but the right combo could never be found. It was when I was in a psychiatric hospital for suicide threat that I visited their library and discovered Bipolar II. My doctor wouldn't listen to me, so I switched docs and the new agreed with me. So for about 10 years I've gone through countless med changes for mood stabilization, depression (which is still my primary concern) and anxiety. I can't even begin to tell you all the meds I've been on over the years. In that time, they all caused a craving for carbs, so I put on 100+ pounds. I have to sleep at least nine hours a day and for most of the day I can barely get off the couch for all the meds. But, this combo is what keeps me functioning at all. Looking back, I usually quit jobs before I got fired, and I realize now it was my uncontrolled behaviors. I am now on permanent disability. With the summer weather, I'm at least getting outside and doing some yard work and gardening if it's not too hot. So there's my story. I look forward to being part of this group.
