My last hospitalization was in 2001. I was diagnosed back in 1988.

Welcome, Cindie and Pattie! I'm going through med changes again... I was stable for a while and then my antidepressant got out of whack. I'm a frequent hospitalization patient. I get suicidal and my last visit I heard a voice telling me to hurt my hubby (who I would never hurt... I don't know where that voice came from). I'm glad that you feel better now!

3 weeks ago, I was in a phychiatric unit, 2 days prior to the unit, I was going to run on to a freeway by my house and doing many more out of control acts. Today, I am by the grace of God, alive, and more than grateful for this chance to get my stuff together. I was diagnosed with "MANIC- Depression" back in 1987, at age 14. Back then they didn't call it Bi-Polar. I have been hospitilized countless times throughout the years. As a teenager, my symptoms waid towards the depressed side, but in my 20's- now in my 40's, it's more towards manic. I had Post Pardom Depression after the birth of first and only child, My last hospital stay really taught me something, about seeing people in their situations, and realized, how much I take for granted. In the midst of of this "light" I have been able to change my attitude towards life. I appreciate it more now. Also, I donated 3 bags of clothing to the women of the hospital where I stayed, I have more than enough clothes, sitting in boxes in closets, these women have nothing(Some of them.)After seeing my doctor, every month, I will be donating more clothes. Anyway, with Bi-Polar, if you're grounded, on the right meds, can get balanced, YOU can do amazing things!!!! It's just getting there that's hard. I got lucky this time. Worked with an amazing doctor, staff, and other patients. GOD BLESS THEM.
