Hi Tura,
I just started getting back into the weight loss journey. I take Depakote, Wellbutrin XL, and Abilify for my BIpolar Disorder. I have an adorable 2 year old son, AJ.

I have been getting treatment for bipolar disorder since 2007. It didn't seem to rear its ugly head until a little after I had my son in 2001 but it only happened now and then where I would get crying jags and just feel like I didn't want to get out of bed. Luckily, the responsibility of raising my son was enough to force me up. It got really bad in 2007. That is when I decided to get help. I guess you could say I was always a bit on the manic side. A little bit promiscuous, terrible with money, doing stupid things without thinking ahead, smoked a lot of weed and drank a lot. I have done the whole trial and error thing with the meds and the therapy and finally found a combination of meds that seems to work for me, especially after getting taken off Cymbalta which more or less made me not care about anything from relationships to sex to well, anything really. It was no way to live. I may not have been depressed, but I wasn't anything at all. And that is depressing!

I won't advocate for or against meds or any other type of treatment since that is a personal choice everyone must make for themselves. I will only share what has worked in my case. I do know that my quality of life has improved immensely.

I look forward to getting to know others who have this illness and us helping each other muddle through this thing called life. =)
