Hi, I just started using SP and I have a lot of food allergies too. I'm allergic to beef, chicken, corn, wheat, tomatoes, citrus, soy, cane sugar, eggs, melons, peppers, yeast, and the list goes on.

My allergies affect me with headaches, depression, and disorientation most of the time and are delayed reactions. Some things cause me to swell up and and have trouble breathing but not everything.

My mom and daughters and grandson have the same problems. The other two grandchildren are too young to know for sure yet if they inherited the allergies yet.

We have fun at family gatherings trying to fix things that everyone can eat because everyone has a slightly different list of food allergies.

I too have many food allergies. Eggs, dairy, and all poultry/fowl. Imagine trying to get healthy/diet without eating chicken! Eating out, as you know is a nightmare. On the lighter side, I won't eat tuna because it's the "chicken of the sea!" It's all in my head, but still! Good luck.
Grooveykarma I am in VA BCH too!

Hippiechick, I understand so much! I am also allergic to many foods including the seafood, and the cantaloupe. I am also allergic to chocolate, eggs, corn, etc. The list goes on with food allergies and environmental. Guess where I live? Virginia Beach! The Chesapeake Bay! LOL So everyone and all the restaurants specialize in seafood dishes. I have learned to stay away from the restaurants after getting food poisoning from a restaurant that let the salad touch the seafood and then served it to me!
I have found that many restaurants add msg (also allergic)to their foods to make it appear fresh. When you have a lot of allergies you may want to consider doing a regular routine of cleansing. I do that and have gone vegetarian.
Take care and be very careful eating out. A lot of employees are not educated in allergies and do a lot of things that can cause you to take a trip to the hospital. I had to be rushed to a hospital for that reason and would not have been able to explain what was happening. Good thing I had a family member with me who knew what was happening.
Take care.

Welcome to the group! That sucks about the seafood. I can imagine how hard that would be living where you do. At least the fruit is easily avoided I'm sure.

Running brings me health and happiness!

Hello, my name is Amy and I've got a lot of allergies! My food allergies include everything seafood (yes, if it is in salt water or even fresh water I'm allergic). I like to think of myself as a landavoire, ha!
I am also allergic to cantaloupe but avoid all melons just in case.
Eating out is a challenge at best, so I tend to eat at places I know I won't get cross contaminates (no seafood) or those where they are trained for allergies and have separate menus (PF Changs).
I am fortunate to live in a progressive town with a lot of vegetarian and vegan restaurants where I know I am safe.
I live in the Pacific Northwest so not having seafood is a bummer! But you can also get a great steak or lamb at most place:)
