Hi everybody!

I am lucky, because I am not technically in debt - the parents are covering my expenses.
Unfortunately, my spending habits are bringing my entire family down.

I can easily spend thousands a month - on things I do not at all need. Meanwhile, the rest of my family is suffering. I have no idea how I charge/spend such obscene amounts of money.

So, here I am! I want to kick the weight issue, AND stop being a financial burden on my loved ones.

Welcome, New Members!

SparkGuy's Savings Jar Club fosters the awareness of personal finance,. In this turbulent financial time, your pro-activeness is admired and wise.

I keep looking for the 'elves' to bail me out, however the 'elves' are NOT lined up down my driveway! Bottom line: It all up to me to take care of myself as it is your job to take care of yourself.

Let's save some dough, pay off our debts and breathe a bit easier.

Hi there Karen. Welcome. I consider being debt free a form of financial independance in and of itself. Our goal: pay off cards and house.

Hi everyone!! I am excited to see my goal of adding exercise and losing weight taking off. Since finances are also a stress for me (I am a single mom of 2), this group sounds like an excellent small start to get me started. The 10 minutes a day of exercise really got me off to a great start with exercise, so hoping for the same momentum here. My goal is to pay off of my debt and start living within my means.

Hope everyone has a great day!!!
Karen

Hello and welcome. We have lots of great people with great ideas here.

I just have to share this: a friend of mine just decreased her food bill even more than I did.

She got a job at Target part-time. She took my suggestion of shopping at Supertarget for her grocery needs (they match competitors pricing AND take coupons on top of that!!) and paying with her Target Visa -which takes 5% off your bill automatically. We then run right home and pay that bill automatically. So, now she can take off her employee discount as well.

I feel so doggone proud when anyone uses one of my ideas. I look forward to seeing some from you!!

Have a great day!

Kim

Thanks! Had a great day reading postings on here and starting to research my first big goal: to cut our food budget. Lots of great blogs out there on keeping an eye on the grocery bill so it's been a nice relaxing read today. With 8/1 right around the corner (the official date I'm starting my new budget plan tracking from) I'm optimistic about the positive changes we'll be able to make.

Spark helped me reach my goal weight so hopefully it can also help me get my budget on track :)

Hello Everyone,

New the the team . . . Bought a house just over a year ago and planning to start a family soon so now is the time to establish a better family budget. We don't have tons of debt, but we recently noticed that we're spending just a bit beyond our means. We're carrying about $1500 on credit cards right now and know we can make some adjustments to get it all back in balance. Looking forward to reading everyone's strategies!

Spark helped me reach my goal weight so hopefully it can also help me get my budget on track :)
