My name is Helene, i was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. The scariest moment of my life.
I had the lumpectomy, got some lymph node taken out, 30 radiation treatments and took tamoxiphen for 5 years.
In the last 2 years we found suspect things a few times but they all turned up to be nothing important. So after 7 years I have finaly graduated to 1 mamo and check up a year.

Hi Carol!
Glad that your surgery went well, and that the lump was contained. Recovery takes time. I still get some swelling in my arm from time to time. The exercises and the massage really help.
Hugs and prayers for you and all on here.

Caro488! A friendly voice! I am new to this group having had surgery on Nov 14. The lump was contained but all my lymph nodes were removed. They were not affected but the early test to identify one or two of them didn't work so they had to remove all of t hem. I am sitting with an ice bag under my arm trying to get the swelling down. A big lump has formed there. My breast is healing. Tomorrow I see a lymphedema specialist and get measured for a compression band for arm. This is a journey I didn't anticipate but glad it was caught ealry. A reminder to get a mamogram when the notice comes out. Don't wait. Carol

Welcome to our group. I just realized that I am now an eleven-year survivor.

a friend once congratulated me on my survival. I said, "I didn't do anything - but live." She said, "That's an amazing accomplishment!"

hugs!

I was diagnosed in May of this year and had a double lumpectomy in my right breast in July. One malignancy removed and a larger, non-malignant mass as well. SAVI radiation followed in August and now I'm just healing and living. Waiting with baited breath for my first post-surgical mammogram in February.

I went through the same kind of treatment 4 years ago. Feeling Great Stage 1, Her 2 positive chemo, radiation and Hercepten for a year. Glad you are doing well ten year, and many more to live. Be Happy and enjoy your wonderful family. .

I am a ten-year survivor - invasive ductile carcinoma, with spread to one of ten lymph nodes removed. negative, negative, Her-2-neu positive. I had surgery, chemo, radiation, and Herceptin. I participated in a study that extended the Herceptin - and that extended treatment is now considered beneficial. I have a husband, a dog, 2 grown kids, 4 great grandkids. My youngest grandson fought and won hearts for five months.

Your story may be different, but we'll help each other get through.
