Thank you Kay. I appreciate the welcome and the link. I have been perusing the website to gather information before seeing my doc on Tuesday. Thanks again. Happy 4th of July!!!

Welcome Diana. I'm sorry to hear of your recent diagnosis. Like Mom2aCat says, it's all very overwhelming at first. We have a daily chat thread here that is nice to join if you feel up to it.

I also found that breastcancer.org was a great source of information for me when I was first diagnosed. I hope things goes smoothly for you. Treatment is different depending on they type and stage of tumor you have. It's important not to freak out if your treatment is different from someone else's that you might know or read about on the internet. I hope you like your doctors.

Thank you Mom2Acat! I go for my first visit to a breast surgeon on Tuesday. I was trying to think of all the questions that I may have but I would guess that she should cover everything, hopefully.

Welcome to the team Diana!

I remember when I was first diagnosed, it felt so overwhelming! We are here for you anytime you need to vent!

I am currently in treatment for stage IV breast cancer.

My name is Shari; I have been a Sparker since July 2006, I am now in hospice care for metastatic breast cancer, but I'm not letting cancer stop me from Sparking!

Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.

Hi, I'm new to this forum although not new to Spark. I've had my challenges with weight but now more importantly I was just diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I really don't know how to feel except that I worry about my family and I know that I should just take it one step at a time. Cancer in general has plagued so many and I pray that someday there is a cure! I look forward to learning about Breast Cancer and how to combat it with good health. Just venting right now until later. Diana

Hi! I am 60, a 2yr 3 month survivor (ER+) who elected to have a bilateral mastectomy without reconstruction. Am still very pleased with my decision. No more mammograms, no sweaty bras when mowing the lawn in the heat of summer, and actually have better balance than I did before. emoticon

I am a seven year survivor. Medicine has advanced tremendously in the past several years. I didn't even vomit during chemo!

Make sure you have a good support group around you, take someone with you to the doctor's appointments, and see your dentist? Some of the treatments can be hard on your teeth, and the dentist can help you with that.

Good luck! Remember, breast cancer only strikes strong women.

One stumble does not a failure make.

Everything in moderation.

Welcome to the team no one wants to join. I'm also 68, retired, and celebrating five years as a survivor of invasive ductal breast cancer. Whatever the results of your biopsy, it looks like it was detected early which ;gives you a greater range of treatment options. We're here for support, to listen to you vent, and share our experiences and knowledge. Please keep us abreast (groan) of what's going on.

Welcome DJ. I'm a long time Spark member too and joined this team after getting breast cancer myself a year and a half ago. I was diagnosed less than a month after my husband finally retired....what a kick in the pants. I hope your biopsy goes smoothly and you find out quickly what is going on....one way or the other. Waiting for test results is one of the very hardest parts. Let us know how you are doing.

I was discovered to have an "area of concern" on my left breast during my annual mammogram in April. Just went through repeat views and and ultrasound to confirm that something is there. Now scheduled for the biopsy this coming week and am very anxious, to put it mildly. I am 68yo and just finally retired from fulltime work as a nurse 7 months ago.
