Kay, I am so sorry you got that news. I'm still praying that you got it fairly early, and that treatment, whatever they suggest, works for you. You'll have some rough days ahead of you, none of us will lie to you about that, but you're going to find an inner strength you didn't know you had. Do what you have to do, look forward to the future, and always remember we are all here for you. I hope you have a strong network of family and friends there with you, and remember your attitude goes a long way too. Hold your head up, smile when you can, and get out there and beat this thing. And get on here with questions and when you need a nudge, or a hug....someone is always around. You go girl!!! You can do it. Praying for you and yours...

My biopsy came back...malignant both my left breast and the lymph node they tested. It is also graded "high rate" "high grade"...the worse news I could have gotten from the test. I will know more in the next day or two as the rest of the biopsy information comes in. I'm getting an MRI this week to see if it has invaded the chest wall. I'm meeting with the surgeon next week. A date hasn't been set for that yet.

Needless to say, I'm depressed...

Keeping my prayers going for you. Your feelings are totally understandable. I think all of us who have been on this journey have felt that way. But, that being said, we're praying you caught it early, and that if it does turn out to be cancer, that you respond well to the treatment and can celebrate with us in 5 and 10 and 15 years or more. It's been 10 years for me with the breast cancer, 17 years with the cervical cancer, and I am still fighting (and beating) the 20 yrs of skin cancer. So it can be done! And your attitude and your fight will prove to be half the battle. So lose the "what if's" and move on to the positive thoughts and actions. Good luck Hun...

Kay, I haven't personally had any kind of cancer, but I've worked in a Cancer Center for the past 8 years (I've also stayed in a Holiday Inn Express!!) and last year I walked beside my husband as he went through treatment for Non Hodgkin Lymphoma.

The feelings you are having are totally normal. While my husband was going through treatment, I experienced moments of sheer panic when I would consider "what if it's spreading", and even now my chest tightens up every time the thought "what if it comes back" pops into my mind.

And I'm not the one who had to go through the rigors of treatment.

I have to continually remind myself that God is in control, none of this took Him by surprise, and whatever happens, He will see us through it. It may not always be easy, He never promised that. But He did promise that we would never be without His love and care.

Thank you all for your support. I have a feeling I'm going to need a lot of it in the coming months. I went to Vanderbilt yesterday for the biopsy. They said "it didn't look good." I immediately went to "I'm going to die in the next six months." After I got home, I realized that what they meant was that I most likely had cancer....not that I was most likely going to die.

They did think it looked like it had spread to the lymph nodes so they biospied the most suspect node. I'll know more by Wednesday, but it looks like a mastectomy, chemo and radiation are all in my future.

I vacillate between being okay, optimistic that I can get through it and live to celebrate 5 years from now, and thinking that I need to be signing up for hospice!

I am fortunate to have a very loving husband. He has been great through my ups and downs (so far), but I know I really need to develop a strong support network no matter what.

I'll be back when I know more.

Kay, I hate that you have a reason to seek out this team, but I'm glad that since you do, you did (I haven't had any coffee yet, can you tell??)

The ladies who hang out here are wonderfully friendly, encouraging, and supportive. I know that you will find lots of help & strength for your journey by becoming involved with this team.

Although we may not know you personally, you can be assured that we will lift you up in prayer as you walk this road. You do not walk it alone.

God's grace & peace to you.

Kay,
I had a similar size cancer in 2010. I know what a scary time that was for me. Best wishes for successful treatment and prayers and hugs for you as you go through this. Reach out to friends and family as you deserve their love and support at this time.

Kay, This is a great team of strong women, none of whom would chose to be here, but we're all glad each other is here with us. That didn't come out right, so I hope you read it in the spirit that it is meant! Anyhow, you will find support, prayers, advice, hope, answers to many questions, and FRIENDS!!! 99% of the time if someone has a question, someone else has "been there, done that" and can offer encouragement and often, peace of mind.

By morning, I'm sure many of the team will have read your post, and you'll have many prayers going up for you. Please keep us posted, and we'll be with you every step of your journey.

Hugs..... emoticon emoticon

Hi all,
I have a 2 cm lump in my left breast that the mammo and ultrasound results last Tuesday were "highly suspicious of malingnancy." The local breast center even sent me the mammo results by registered mail....signature required. They aren't messing around!

I'm having my biopsy done tomorrow in Nashville at Vanderbilt. They say it will be 3-5 business days before they have the results. I was initially very scared and extremely depressed, but I'm kind of thinking that I can get through anything, no matter how bad it is. At this point, I would most like to know exactly what I'm dealing with (what stage). This has been a wake up call.

I'm glad this team is here. I've been an active Sparkmember for a long time. I'll be posting here as I learn more.

Thanks for your support!

BTW, I'm 60 yo, I just moved from Illinois to Tennessee two months ago and I have a very loving husband. I'm working on building up a network of support and hope this team will be a part of it for me.
