Hi all,
I'm a Red a Wings fan living in Southern Ca (yep, Ducks & kings territory). I've been a fan since 1986...keep the hope alive this season Remember "impossible" is NOT a word, it's just a reason for someone not to TRY.

I've been following the Wings since 1980 through the bad (1980's) to the great (1990's and early 2000's) and now still trying to hold on to being good. This year we will see if they can step up and show the world where Hockeytown really is. Go Wings!

Hey all, Wings fan living in Dallas... can't wait til January when they come to play the Stars.
I grew up in Livonia, then got ripped out of Michigan for about 11 years. Returned in 1992 and got into the Wings. Now a lifelong fan, no matter where I live! If anyone else is in Dallas and knows of any watching parties... let me know! ~Dana

I just found this group - my name is ... oh you can see that. I am Danish (close to Sweden), lived in Detroit and I am a Wings fan. I am also a Lake Erie Monsters fan because that is the hockey in my town. (they are the AHL team for the AV's).
Can't wait for the season to start. Did you see Datz will play with '24' during the preseason in honor of Salei? |

for some reason this was posted twice - sorry.

Given the Lions' track record over the years, I can understand why you became a Redskins fan while living in VA. And also why you didn't become a Caps fan. Original 6 -- nothing better!

I grew up playing "Street Hockey" on the ice covered streets in our neighborhood with my brothers friends. (Sofa cushions make great goalie pads) As kids we walked to the Saginaw Gears games. I remember being 18 and going to some swanky corporate party down in Detroit... everyone was hanging out by the pool and "getting ready". Not me, I was in the room watching the RedWings. We lived in Virginia for 9 years and I'll admit I switch to a Redskins fan, But I never became a Capitals fan. When we started a family, and moved back to the tri-cities, my love of hockey became a family affair. Hubby and both kids are total WingNuts also. My son has never seen a year without the wings being in the playoffs - how cool is that? GO WINGS!!!!!

Hi Red Wings fans! I grew up in a suburb of Detroit and spent my early years watching live sports in downtown Detroit. Hockey was the sport in my family, as I had two brothers who played on local and travel teams and my sis and I basically grew up in ice rinks. Every winter my Dad would build an ice rink in our back yard.
My kids are Red Wings fans too - the puck doesn't fall far from the post. ;) The game is starting in a few minutes. GO WINGS!!! You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go.... Dr. Seuss

Hi! I'm Jen. I'm a huge Wings fan. I'm from Metro Detroit. I've been a hockey/wings fan since 96, when I was in middle school. This past season, I got to go to 3 Wings games, the stateside Home opener, the last home game and the second to last game of the season (which happened to be my first away game.)
I am so excited for Saturday, when I try to buy tickets for the Wings Training Camp up in Traverse City. I was able to go two years ago, and it was a lot of fun, so I can't wait to go again. For my first two big milestones on my weight loss journey, I have/will reward myself with new Wings jerseys. At minus 25lbs, I got the Women's black jersey, with Homer on the back, and at 50lbs (8lbs away from that) I'm going to get a red Women's Lidstrom jersey. I can't wait to wear that up at TC and I can't wait for the 2010-2011 season to start!!! Love, Peace and Hockey

Hi Everyone,

I live in the upper peninsula of Michigan. I am a member of the 2010 class of Delta County's Biggest Winners. The program takes about six months and we are in the "dog days" of the program. Not close enough to the end to feel that final "almost there" adrenaline surge but well over halfway through the program. I started at 270 in early January. I am now at about 240-245 depending upon what time of day/week I weigh myself. My original goal was to get down to 210 by the June which is the end of the program, but that doesn't look practical any more. My trainer set me a goal of 220 which is still attainable in the seven or eight weeks I have left of the program. Let's see if this site helps me push through to that goal.
One of the nice things about the hockey season is I can get on the stepper and watch the Wings play and time flies. Go Wings! --wedge

Just found the team I've been looking for! So excited SparkPeople has a Red Wings team! I've been a Wings fan my whole life, as far back as I can remember. I love hockey, love to watch it and play it! In recent years my hubby and I moved from Detroit but we still get to watch every Wings game via NHL Center Ice luckily! And we both play at the local rink, not on a league right now, but mostly for fun. I'm here to get into better shape for my health and my game.

Hi, I live in Sparta, WI. We moved here thanks to the Army. My husband was station here and then we retired here. His dad was a Detroit firefighter so he was born and raised on the east side of Detroit. I was born in Toronto and raised mostly in Hazel Park. The only sport my dad ever watched was hockey. Maybe being from Canada had something to do with it? So since he only had daughters he needed one to drag along to hockey game and thank God it was! Glad to find some Red Wings Fans here!!!

Hi, I'm Brenda. I lived in Michigan (Chesterfield Twsp. and in Mt. Clemens) for eleven years. My son got me into hockey. I moved back home four years ago to West Virginia. My neice keeps me informed (plus the computer) on the games. Plus when they play the penguins, since I live close to Pittsburgh. No one around here is into hockey. They like football and baseball and NASCAR. I feel like a fish out of water during the season. I'm go glad I found you guys.
One day at a time sweet Jesus.

Hello all. so glad to find a place to hang with Wings fans and find motivation to lose these 33 lbs. I live in Livonia, but was born & raised in Petoskey. Love my life here! (living close to the Joe is definitely a plus too!) Hope to make lots of friends here & finally be free from the extra lbs.!

Hi, I recently joined Spark People, and wondered if wings fans would prove true and gather in this forum as well. Glad to see we have, and that we have more members than the Pens team. I've been a huge wings fan since high school, and all i really have to say now is ... Let's go wings!

Live in Ohio, but born in Detroit.
Many cousins etc. in Detroit and my son played in the Little Caesar’s hockey league last year…. Lots and lots of commuting. Next year we’ll stay put as my commuting kid will be playing high school hockey now. I’ve never been to THE JOE… but we will someday!! When I was 5 I met Gordie Howe. He was at my brother’s practice for a RED wings visit at Ford Field in Livonia. He picked me up and said “what can I do for you sweetie?” I said “Could you please help me find Alex Delvechio? He’s my favorite player”. My brothers were so embarrassed. But Alex Delvechio bought me a ton of candy in the concession stand for doing it… they thought it was a riot!! My nephew tells people my Aunt actually dissed Gordie Howe… LOL… it’s a true story. “Be not afraid of going slowly; be afraid only of standing still.”

Hi,
My name is Kathi and I'm a diehard Wings fan. Boy this sure is a quiet place for a Wings forum. I'm loving the fact that the Wings are now #1. First the President's Trophy, then the conference championship then the Cup!!!

Hi all. I have been a rink rat my whole life...my first word was skating! My dad played minor league in Detroit and on the Army team and passed his passion to me. I have even taught my husband to love the game. There is no other team for me other than the Wings.

Welcome to the team of Wing nuts! LOL Yes, hockey is addicting isn't it? I've been an addict most my life! *smile* My dad (before he passed away) was into the local hockey programs and my brother played. And our son played all the way up in youth hockey and we're still rink rats! We host a youth tournament in my dad's name every year which we put on and do all the work so that's always fun. Besides following our beloved Red Wings!!!!! Woohoo!!!!

So I was a member of sparkpeople a few years ago, and now I'm back. I've always been a fan of Detroit sports- I remember the 97-98 Cup wins, etc, but started following the Wings religiously last fall when I finally admitted my hockey addiction! I'm a huge hockey fan and love nothing more than going to my university's games, watching the guys on FSN, or scouting out the competition on HNIC

Hi everyone. I'm in Farmington Hills, MI and am a huge Wings fan. So much so that a few years ago I got a job at the Joe! This is my second season when they've won the Cup. I never get tired of talking about the Wings!

I'm Jackie. I was born and raised in Royal Oak, Michigan, but am currently residing behind enemy lines in Colorado. Being a Red Wings Fan in Colorado is not easy, but it can be a lot of fun. I wasn't particularly popular this during that playoffs that is for sure.

Is it Hockey Season yet? I'm ready!! Went Ice Skating this past weekend and just the smell of walking in the arena makes me want to see (or maybe someday, again) play a game! Anyone else ready?

I've been with SP for about three weeks now and just started looking for some new teams to join and boy am I happy to find this one. I am a Michigan native living in Florida...not many of us "wing nuts" down here. At least we did get hockey in the sunshine state. I usually go to a local EHL game, the Everblades, since they are close. I'm pumped the Red Wings took the cup this year and I am pumped to finally be on my to becoming healthy at last!

I'm Stephanie and I just moved to Indiana and cannot WAIT to drive up to Detroit to watch a Wings game. I've seen them in LA and Anaheim but never at the Joe. I'm so excited that we won this year because we always deserve it, but can never seem to quite make it all the way. GO WINGS!

I know what you mean by Barry Melrose, he's still pouting because he did not get the Wings' coaching job all those years ago and cannot get over it! Cry baby!

To me, there is hockey and then all of the other sports. :) I was so excited to see the Wings win another Stanley Cup this year, especially for all of the naysayers, can you say Barry Melrose? Anyway, just wanted to give a shout out. Have a good one.

Hi! I'm new to posting on SP. I wanted to join a team on here and I knew that I need to find a Wings team so here I am!
I'm Leslie. I live in Toledo, OH. I do not miss a home game under any circumstance. (I was going to skip my college graduation had we needed a game 5 against Colorado and my parents fully supported that!) Joe Louis Arena is my home away from home September to June :) My dad grew up in Detroit and he follows all of the teams. I started watching hockey with him one day just out of the blue and I fell in love with it. I've been watching since 1995? 96? Ozzie is my fav. I just love that guy. The Russian 5 were the best and they brought so much to the Wings' game. They are sorely missed. The Red Wings used to play a different kind of hockey when they were around, never dumping the puck, but carrying it all the way. Now, they dump the puck a lot and not carry as much.

Hi. I have been a hockey fan since I was little. My parents are from Sault Ste Marie, MI. and my Dad came to Iowa to play for a semi-pro team here. I grew up in the arena. As I got older my Dad coached the high school team, and I barely missed games. Our semi pro team here became a USHL team. I haven't missed very many games in the last 23 years, I even work for the team now. I love, love, love the Red Wings. I stayed up watching all 3 OT's. Hope they can pull it off tonight. GO WINGS!

I have been a wings fan since high school (almost 20 years). I was a tomboy and hung around with the guys, most of them and my auto shop teacher played hockey, so I started watching high school level games then I watched the Wings and I was hooked since.
