Hi all, I'm Sarah. I'll be 40 in November 2017. I used SP successfully back in 2010, and got fit with tracking all my food, not drinking alcohol, and working out to Jillian Michaels dvds 3x/week. Lost 50 lbs in about 5-6 months. Fast forward to now, 7 years later - I'm back nearly to where I was when I started back in 2010. Need to lose at least 40 lbs. So I'm back working the plan - JM dvds 6x/week, tracking all my food on SP (1200-1350 cals ideally), no alcohol, and no going out to eat. I know it's only been 2.5 weeks so far, but the scale is not budging. Am frustrated as heck, but have joined 3 Dietbets, so I'm not quitting or giving up! I recognize this will be harder now that I'm older, but I'm determined to get fit and healthy, and hopefully take off this excess weight in the process! Looking forward to being part of this group. (Side note - anyone in Chicago?)

My Introduction: emoticon

Hello Team,

I want to take the time and introduce myself to our team. I'm currently "37" years old and have been married for 15 years emoticon ! I have two children the ages 12 and 7. I served six years in the United States Military from 1998-2004. I decided at the age of 24 to get out the Navy and start a family with my husband who was in the Navy as well but decided to stay in to support us. During this time I was very healthy, I weighed around 150 pounds; however once I got out of the military I simply stopped working out and the weight really gained up on me. Before I knew it I weighed myself a few months later and the scale said 180 pounds! To top things off two weeks later I found out I was pregnant. To make a long story short after giving birth my weight was around 200 pounds. At this point I decided to take back control of my health; however I soon discovered I had a mass growth on my right Thyroid. Okay now things really started to get CRAZY. I had surgery to get half of my Thyroid removed and weeks afterward I started to feel sick, depressed, I was gaining weight even though I was still working out and watching what I ate...Okay to make another long story short I have now become diagnosed with "HYPOTHYROIDISM" a horrible condition that kills your metabolism. It took roughly around three years to get to where I'm at now both physically and mentally. I have to work a little harder with this condition but it's all good : ) Now the above information happen during the course of time between 2009 - 2013. The last two years I've gained weight lost weight back and forth. With all this being said I decided to join SparkPeople because I want to be persistent in my weight loss goals.I want to share my story with others while learning from others as well! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon WE CAN, WE WILL,WE MUST

Hi everyone. I'm new to the team. I have been on spark many, many years ago. Just joined back to get serious about getting back into shape. I live in the Atlanta area. I work all day and I get to be a mommy for the rest of the day.

Hi all!!! new to to the team, but not to SP. I've been a member for... gosh, almost 8 years!!! My 8 year sparkersary is in two days!!! Wow!!!

Anywho, I've lost up to half my original weight, which was a bit on the too thin side, then gained a few to get pregnant with babe 2. Then lost the baby weight in 6 months... then have slowly gained about 20 lbs over the last 3 years! It's time to stop the creep. I'm aiming to lose 15-20lbs again and get back on track.

I've got a challenge going with a friend here at home but looking for some SPARK support as I get on track!!

Imperfection is important. If we were all perfect, then there would be no such thing as growth, and everyone would be extremely boring, which is, paradoxically, not that perfect.-- Dr. Matt

Hello,

I have been a member with Spark for what seems like forever. I have spurts of commitment where I will be active online. I am in one of those moods currently. I have been actively tracking my food and exercise for almost an entire week. I am looking forward to meeting some of you here online and staying on longer than my last streak! :-)

Hi, I've been a regular on sparks for a few years on and off but keep coming back to it as the support is awesome! My weight is up and down still but more up than down recently lol, I welcome support here and I give loads of support back I find if you add friends you start to become familiar with different ones and get to know people here. I look forward to making a few new friends this group is very energetic I like that. All the best of luck to everybody and thanks for the invite.

hello, my name is leah and I have joined this group because I want to be fit and healthy by 40!! I have a couple of years so I think I should be able to do this. I am also looking to make friends that understand the journey. back ground on me. I was married for 13 years had 3 kids divorced then remarried and had 2 more kids. so yes I have 5 all together. I deal with depression, seasonal and emotional ( i am from the pacific northwest ). I hope to also be able to help you ladies on your journey as well. emoticon

I have actually been with sparkpeople since 2008 even though it says differently. I had a different account then closed it and the came back later. I love this program. even if I don't follow completely.

I look forward to gettting to know you all and encouraging you through this journey

Hello,

My name is Lisa and I am 32. I spent all of my twenties being obese. I really don't want to spend all of my thirties of that as well!
I have over one hundred pounds to lose! I currently work out with a trainer and I am getting back on track with my eating. In 3 months with the trainer I have lost 24 pounds and 17 inches. I am re-learning a lot of things and some bad habits still stick but this is a process.

hello everyone!! my name is Donna .I am the proud mother of 2 an 11 and 14 yr old , I have a desk job so that limits my exercise tremendously although i do try to squeeze in at 30 minutes every night and 15 minutes every morning. My goal is to get in shape and be more health conscious by the time i hit 40 .

Hello all! My name is Jenny. I have been an inactive member off an on for a few years now. But...the time has come. I need to make a change. I have 4 kids ranging from 2-14 and work full time. I have an office job so I sit most of the day. During the day my challenge is to get movement. Last month I joined a gym and have been working out, plus I like to trail run. I turn 40 in 2015 and absolutely MUST be smaller and healthier by then.

@Andra, My two oldest kids are 14 months apart - I can totally remember and relate to being crazy busy with them!!

@Kim, Have a great time with the color guard! My daughter is participating in marching band this year - its a entirely new experience! Her sisters did orchestra, choir and drama, but the marching band is completely different. It's such a time commitment of the kids but they all seem to fall in love with it quickly!

I've been a mostly inactive member for the last 3 years. Prior to that I had a very successful 2 years or so with SP of losing weight and developing healthy habits. In the fall of 2011 I went back to school and over the next 3 years, lost a lot of those habits and gained back all of the weight :/ I finished my degree this month and am ready to begin working towards restarting all those good habits and losing the weight again. This week I started a 10 week program through the VA called "Move" which is focused on getting healthy.

I will be 40 in May - YIKES! Just celebrated my 9th wedding anniversary and I have two children at home who are in first and ninth grades - and two children who have left home within the last couple of years. One who beginning her 3rd year of college and the other who will be graduating HS in the fall. I am currently job hunting but in the meantime have no excuse not to work towards achieving my goals of being healthy!

Hello to all!!!! My name is Andra. I am mother to an almost 3 yr old boy and a 14 month old girl. So my life is crazy, but I LOVE it!!!! I just turned 31 on the 10 of August. I have been married for 7 years to my amazing and harding husband.

I have been over weight since puberty, but as I have gotten older, I became obese. I really don't think I am as obese as people think I am, but I have accepted my size for a long time. When I was pregnant with my son, I had a pretty healthy pregnancy, in fact I lost weight. Healthy weight loss of course!!! With my second pregnancy, I was so much more uncomfortable and I gained 30 on top of being 247. I also had my blood pressure spike several times to the point they induced me a week early, probably because they thought I had pre-clampsia. I was so puffy and swollen. I also don't have high blood pressure when I am not pregnant and I don't have diabetes.

So, I am looking forward to making myself healthy, not just for me, but for my family. We do want more children, but how can I have healthy pregnancies if I am still obese. So I am hoping to be fabulous by 40!!!

My name is Kim. I am 36 and have 5 children: 2 boys- steps son age 21 and son 19 and 3 girls- ages 16, 14, and 11. I teach middle school special education at the school where my 11yo will attend this school year. All of them have played soccer and the girls will all still be playing this fall. I've also just been asked to work with the color guard at our local high school and am very excited to be involved with music again!

I lost about 40 pounds several years ago and kept it off until my Thyroid went haywire and I developed several food allergies as well. I gained 30 pounds in 8 weeks from Dec 2012 to Feb 2013! Currently eating a limited diet to heal my leaky gut and thyroid issues and am finally seeing the weight come back off.

Exercise routine includes lots of walking, yoga, and strength training. I am not doing any high intensity stuff until I heal my adrenals, as cardio puts even more stress on adrenal function. Enjoying long walks and relaxing yoga!
