Thank you so much for the input. I can't move away because I just moved to Florida 4 months ago. And my sister helped me out a lot. She's all into dieting because its healthy,no other reason. We are both widows. You'd think we have a lot in common but"not".Although I do enjoy her company and finacial advice......I just don't want to hear the diet nagging. I think it might be best not to say anything about my weight or dieting.....of course if she asks I'll have to fib and say I'm doing what she tells me about diet and exercise emoticon something I don't like to do is fib. But right now my nerves are shot and the stress is overwhelming. In 2 weeks I go to the doctor and I pray to get the help I need to continue back on to a healthful lifestyle again. As for the chocolate....nothing left over.Chocolate does not last in my home. I just don't buy it....unless I'm really really upset. I really appreciate your help...and I'm going to try my best...again. Thank you so much emoticon

Sol,

I can so relate to what you are saying. I have an "adopted" sister. She is my best friend and closer to me than my own sister. She is also a bit older than me. A couple of years ago, she decided to lose weight. She bought the exercise equipment, started Nutri System, started drinking only water and juice, etc.... she lost over 50 lbs and I was very proud of her. She began nagging on me, telling me that I wouldn't truly be happy with myself until I lost some weight too. She also told me that no man would be interested in me, or rather that it would be easier to "get a man" if I lost some weight. "You are much too pretty to be so big" was yet another thing I heard. It did nothing but infuriate me and make me eat more. I am an emotional eater anyway, so this was just fuel for my fire.

Last summer, she moved several hours away. Since that time, I have lost over 35lbs. I didn't even tell her I was doing anything for the longest, simply because I didn't want to hear it. When I talk to her now, I don't detail anything, I just tell her I am making some changes-- little by little.

You can't lose weight for anyone else-- it has to be because you want to do it for you. I know your sister means well, but what works for her may not work for you. Try several things until you find something that works for you. I use the spark diet as a guideline. I also use frozen dinners, frozen snacks and diet treats. I have cut out the sodas. I did have a few while we were on vacation, but honestly, sweet tea is still my biggest downfall!!! I eat less red meat and more fish, chicken and pork. I have even learned to eat and enjoy tofu! I eat more veggies and fruits. I drink LOTS of water!!!!! I haven't yet, but I plan to incorporate more physical activity into my life. I work very close to my job, so I hope to start biking to work. I live in LA, so it gets very hot, very quick here and the humidity is killer. Any outdoor activity for any length of time can quickly become a health concern-- but done in moderation-- it can be worked into my schedule.

The main thing is to remember that what works for her may not work for you! YOU have to find what is best for you. If she bothers you that much, either talk to her about it or don't spend as much time with her. I would say talk to her about it, she may get her feelings hurt to begin with, but if she loves you (and I am sure she does) she'll understand!

In the mean time--- step away from the chocolate!!! Put them in the freezer and only allow yourself one a day!!!! LOL!!!

Hello there. My name is Sol and my weight is 216. I've lost 17 pounds over the past 3 months. But I've fell off the wagon because of severe stress. My sister is driving me crazy, she's also on a diet and a health food geek for many years. I just can't live on bean sprouts and baked salmon on a daily basis. I love her dearly but she constantly nags me about starting my diet again. She constantly tells me what to eat and to exercise. Its getting on my nerves big time. The topic just does not change for a moment. My sister is older than me and I respect her,so I will not say anything that would hurt her feelings. She's my only family here where I live.Every time we visit and I am alone again,I eat everything in sight on purpose. To top it off I have a serious depression(not new to me),I made the mistake of telling her that I made an appointment with a psychiatrist, and she's all upset because she does not believe in doctors of any sort. But I need to get on with life and lose weight by my own decision. Please if anyone can give me any suggestions before I gain back more of what I lost and then some,I would so much appreciate it.I feel just awful,I'm eating chocolate while I'm writing this because I know my sister would harp on me about it. Thank you kindly,Love,Sol
