Welcome back, MALEADA2001! And to the others that I may have failed to welcome. Restarting is great. It would be lovely if everything we started always went smoothly and got the results we want exactly when we want; but we all know it does not always go that way. So I say it's fabulous that you've caught yourself now and are rededicating to improving your health / fitness.

Best wishes to you. Let me know if I can ever be of help.

How is it going for you so far?

Hats off to all of you! My experience is that this weight loss thing is a series of stops and starts and it is when the starting lasts longer than the stopping that you win. This is not a race but a long distance marathon and it can't be won or done in just a few short hops. Keep going, you ar all doing great! Lisa

Congratulations to all the restarters! I joined back in April - and did nothing but gain an additional 15 pounds. I got laid off in November and decided to start getting serious about my weight management - and have now successfully lost almost 5 pounds - but more importantly, am tracking everything, working out more diligently, and allowing myself to release the past so I can continue to release weight. Good luck to everyone here!

I restarted just about the same time as you. I started in April had some sucess, but then had a bad summer followed by an even worse fall, therefore I heavier then when I first started, but most importantly I am back now and hopefully 2009 will be the year to do it! Good luck to you on your journey, I hope to chat with you more!

I don't know if there is anyone out there right now that is restarting, but I have to restart. I Think the only way I am going to lose weight is if I go back to stage one and start with the first step they tell me. I know I can do this, and yes every day is a restart day for me, but then it all goes down hill. By the end of the day I have forgotten what I am suppose to be doing. So It is all BABY STEPS for me.

Let each day be the beginning, leave the past be.

I'm restarting today. I lost about 12 lbs with SparkPeople between April and August and then I got off track (a very stressful project at work) and regained 6 lbs.

I've actually went back to the Fast Break stage, just to get into the proper mindset.

I hope my fellow April 13-19, 2008 alumni are all doing well!

Cheers!

I have taken a few days off (up to 6) from working out; and have eaten a few things I that I should have. BUT, and its' a big BUT, I think that re-started by metabolism and got me off of a plateau that was depressing the heck out of me. Did this twice since June.

Anyhooo. Off to boxing class ! Later. H

i guess we all fall off the wagon sometimes - as for me i decided it was not going to happen by itself that i had to instigate this thing or it would never work. i have been on sp this week and so far so good. i have lost 25# before i got sidetracked - and now i am trying to remove 7# that i already lost back in may and june - bummer - oh well you reap what you sow and if you sow too many calories that add on the pounds.

good luck to all of you and myself as well as we endeavor to keep on track and get this thing right! have a great spark day!

I started my account in April just to see what SP was - never really got any further than that. Now I'm back and I'm ready to get the job done. I've been counting calories and exercising like a nut for 4 weeks now. In that time I've dropped the 9 pounds I had gained since April.

I have another 103 to go! It WILL happen!

It's been 5 weeks since I restarted and I've only lost 1% body fat. Maybe I should have weighed myself before restarting. I must have gained some weight from my hiatus...I cannot imagine that I haven't lost any weight. It's depressing.

It's been about 6 weeks since I restarted and I have lost 6 pounds!!
I also found it very motivating to be right where I should be on the tracking graph rather than 7 pounds over...

When I first started using spark people and working out, I got discouraged because the weight loss line in the reports section kept on going down whereas my actual weight didn't shift much at all. In the end I recalculated everything and started over and it was such a good idea. It took me about a month to see results from the combo of exercise and healthy eating i was doing and its strange but my weight and the line in the report thing tend to go hand in hand so I seem to be on schedule. So I say don't worry about starting over again, as long as you get there that's what matters. Best of luck ppl x

I'm ready to re-start with SP. This month has been crazy with all the trips and my kids graduating. I was under a lot of stress and put my dieting and workouts on the back burner. I ended up gaining which is bad but it motivates me and now I have a goal to lose the 10# I gain in June.

I agree with everything said here. Sometimes restarting is just what is needed to rejuvenate and motivate. Start fresh and then let momentum take over. You can do it!!!!!

Hi, I lost 10 but now I'm back where I started. You're not alone in needing to restart. I'm having trouble doing exercises. I like to walk but feel clumsy, awkward and self-conscious doing strength exercises. Let's just do it! emoticon

To the restarters... it is great you are doing this. Everyday is a chance to make better choices, and choosing to get back on track is one of the best ones you can make. LMK if you need a spark stalker to keep you on track once in a while.

Maybe I should restart too. I've also put on 3 lbs. I've been excercising pretty hard since the first of the year and not getting anywhere! Not sure if its is my thyroid or what. This past week has been very stressful but I don't want to give up, I only need to lose about 10 more lbs.

Fear not..... I too gained, but then I lost 2lb's and then 3lb's. As you get moving you will start building muscle and it weighs more. My 3lb's was found gone Sunday morn. You could restart but hang in there and keep going forward. Once you establish more muscle it will start to burn fat. emoticon
