Hi Laura - Don't know how I missed your post before now; but just read it today. I'm so glad to hear about your progress. Those are all good, healthy improvements. You should be very proud of all you've done.

I couldn't agree more with you about the impact all our Spark friends can have on our lives. And you know that you return the same to many. Keep it up!

The last day of February 2009 and it is a very good day. I'm so encouraged still because of the low cholesterol levels and my blood pressure is under control. My weight is back down to 210 and my energy levels are up today. My journey has been fraught with ups and downs and road blocks along the way but my determination to lose weight and be healthy has been under-shored by the wonderful people here at Sparks. When the numbers are against me and myself image has taken a beating, my friends here have encouraged me to continue this journey. I know that this is the only reason I'm still here; people at Sparks care about each other by showing their concern when the others hurt and have fallen and don't want to get up to continue the struggle. Each day brings new challenges but also new inspiration from fellow sparkers. Thank you for being there not jut for me but for each other.

Your friend, Laura emoticon

Coming into July, and 10 weeks of using this site. Still lovin' all the tools, the teams and boards, the whole experience. I have learned quite a bit about myself, my behavior and emotions around the choices I make on what to eat and how to move in my body. My efforts I feel could be better... emoticon so I would like to propose a challenge for July. I want to commit to losing 6 - 8 lbs., I think that will come from better nutritiona choices as my fitness and strength training are consistant and I enjoy doing it. Perhaps you are better with your calorie range and could use some help with fitness and we could team up and help one another reach our goals for July!!

emoticon

I found a board with a challenge for July, I have changed my "ticker" to reflect my goal for this month. Have a good one everybody!

I am loving Spark. I did get off track for a week and gained 3 pounds, but I am back to it now. I really like the support that we get.

5 or 6 weeks in, how is everyone doing? I am still excited and motivated, still in love with SP. I am enjoying the community immensely. I even found a message board that is a game, how fun is that!

Ditto to so much of what has been said. There is power in knowledge-- knowing what you have eaten and the calories you are burning, reading articles and learning about weight loss, having access to healthy recipes.

Love the site-- Love the people I have met! Welcome to the team.

You are absolutely right Montana. It has been almost a month since I discovered this site and I am still motivated, still hooked. This is the first time I have had any desire to be involved with computer communities, what a difference it has made to my enthusiasm about losing weight, and, the time I spend on the computer!!! lol Time to get off the computer and go for my walk. Had a lie in the a.m. so off to a late start. Enjoy your day everybody!

I think everything about Spark is helpful. I love the articles and recipes. Making ourselves accountable to record it all is a great motivator, as is the personal support from team members. I've been telling everyone I know about SPARK!

I agree esace5. Logging the calories I ingest gives me a great visual on how my eating habits are. I also love to see the other totals, fat, carbs, protein and I also track fiber. Those figures give me a sense of how healthy my diet is. I already can see that I don't get enough protein and most days not enough fiber. I think both these nutrients are known for keeping you feeling full and satisfied, so I endeavor to eat more protein and fiber.

I've done this for 2 weeks now and for some reason having to log my calories has really clicked! Don't know why it helps so much not to want to have to put more calories on my tracker more than the fact that they also would be put into my body. I guess it's just because it's all in black & white on the screen in front of me.

Good Luck to all of you as well. I went into the cupboard the other day to get a sweet & salty peanut granola bar and to my delight, the phrase "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" came waltzing into my mind and I turned around and walked away from the kitchen! YES!!!

I'm there with you. The only thing I've been steady at while dieting is being a yo-yo :) I'm ready to change and this is going to be the time :) I hope :) So good luck!

Good day to everyone. This is all very new to me, but an excellent experience so far. I'm with you fireice I love this site! I quit smoking 3 years ago and have steadily put on weight since. I have given many half-#^@ attempts to lose the weight but have found that complaining about it is easier. I feel ready now to move out of that funk and commit to get on with the project at hand.
