Hi everyone. I joined in this week of April, but didn't realize there was teams for the week of joining until now. LOL. So here I am to share my successes with my class! I have actually been away from SP for a couple of months and am just returning this past week after getting things set up in my new house. Hi everyone. I didn't get a chance to huddle yesterday, (the first time since being here). The computer didn't even get turned on, also the first time I didn't track nutrition or fitness. I had a very rough week, hoping this week will be a bit calmer, easier to take. Sometimes life gets in the way.

Hi All!

My name is Deb and I live in Mesa, AZ and I need to lose a good 35 pounds.

I am a newbie at posting to messageboards, I'm more of a lurker, but the thread on Restarting has motivated me!

I have started the 7 day bootcamp and logged in an recorded the 2 lbs I've gained since April. emoticon (My first emoticon!!)

I love that there is a forum for people that joined at the same time! My user name is from my hawaiian calendar that was in front of me at the time, too bad I misspelled it!

Just wondering how everyone is doing so far. I am so happy to have found this online community. Team support really helps motivate me.

Recent Diabetes diagnosis scared the crap out of me and finally gave me the kick in the pants I needed to start getting healthy.

Some small successes:

Kept Blood Sugar in normal range for the past month 100%

Maintained in all calories, fat grams, protein, etc ranges 95%

It's a start. Good luck to everyone!!!

Hi All,

I joined on the 17th at the urging of my friend Ginger. Everything just makes so much SENSE here! I'm eating so much better, and MOVING more - walking, got out my little dumbbells from the closet.. I even did some SQUATS today! Have lost 7.5 pounds so far. This is GREAT. :)

Hi! My husband and I joined on the 18th and it's been a joy having him as my partner for once. At 6 ft. 5 in. and 204 pounds he really doesn't need to lose weight but he does need to slim down the beer belly!! So he has been a huge motivator for me. I was always hunting the internet for a new weight-loss program and while visiting the Biggest Loser website, someone mentioned SP and the rest is history. I'm in love with everything about the site and can't wait to tell people how it helped me lose 36 pounds!!! It WILL happen!

Hi, I started this journey on the 18th. I tried to post here a while ago, but ended up starting a new thread, "excellent experience". I hope this goes where I intend it to. I have had 2 wonderful things happen to me since signing on to this website. The other day I was reaching into the cupboard for a sweet and salty peanut granola bar when a voice in my head said "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels". I'm pretty sure I read that phrase here, somewhere within the Sparkpeople community. I was thrilled, proof it works! Then today, my 12th here; I decided to weigh myself for the first time since the 18th. My usual experience with "dieting" is that weighing myself every Monday a.m. would set me up to feeling absolutely miserable all day Monday because the number was either higher or hadn't moved. I really didn't like beating myself up so I would stop keeping track of my weight and what I was eating. Needless to say that snowballs into other non healthy behavior and I'm back to square one or worse. Today, TUESDAY, is a different day!!!!! Without attaching myself to any number, any emotional outcome, without really thinking about it at all, I pulled the scales out kicked it on with my toe, and without even stripping off my pjs, I stepped on up. Thrilled to say 3 pounds lighter!! Proof positive. What an excellent experience.

LOL I have done the same thing joined SP the 17th. I really really want to do this. I just looked at a picture of myself and started to cry. I didn't realize I was that big. But just at lunch my husband and I had an argument and in my head I was just going to eat my drizzle snack cakes and instead went to the bakery and got a cookie (which was probably 300+ cal) I want this so bad. I worked out this morning. I get that it's the food I either each too much or not enough. HELP!!!!

I'm new to the site and have my youngest sister to thank for telling me about it. I knew it was time to get control of my weight and health so took her advice to this it out. Hello, I joined SP last week and I'm trying to get used to the site so I am just now adding my 2 cents. I am 42 years old, a mother to 4 "kids" (they're all still at home at the ages of 23, 21, 19 & 17). I will be married 25 years this year. Hi everyone! I started on Sparkpeople on 4/14, but just got around to exploring sparkteams and sparkpages in the last couple of days.

My name is Sara, and I'm 26 years old in Southern California. I've been overweight the majority of my life, but finally came to the realization that I really need to do something about it, finding that I had reached my highest weight yet, 265 and I was completely devastated!!

So, I decided to do something about it. I did some web research and found this website, and I'm already amazed at how helpful it is! I've been tracking my food and really thinking about what I'm eating, and how much of it I'm eating and making a conscious effort to eat better and exercise more!

Welcome to the group Bar! I'm new to this, and it's DEFINATELY not easy! I think perhaps by making small changes, vs. drastic ones a little at a time, it may be more effective. Then again, some do better with cold turkey (reminds me of my lunch today!)...

I'm new to this. And really need to lose the weight due to multiple joint replacements due to rhumitoid arthritis. The older I get the more I find it harder to get the weight off and keep it off. emoticon I feel a little overwhelmed by it all.

Hello everyone. I rejoined spark after a really bad departure, lol. I was doing well with my HW being 260 pounds. I lost 40 pounds here on spark following a semi-low carb diet. I got down to about 220, and am now at about 200-210. I felt i needed to restart spark, so i actually deleted my old account, and wanted to start fresh.

I look forward to reaching my goal this time, and sticking with the Spark plan, because it DOES work... you just have to make it work!

Hello everybody!! I just joined on Friday and I am feeling very positive about the SP website. I am here to make a life style change, meet others with the same determination, and lose 20lbs. I am also here to win back my will power and confidence in myself. One of my biggests goals is to be able to wear a pair of shorts and maybe given a bikini before this summer is over. Hi,

I found out about this site about 6 months, but I just signed up. I wish I would have started then...anyway I am here now! Despite my troubles with staying committed to living a healthy lifestyle, I am having hard time navigating the site. I'm a new member. I am trying to feel good about myself, but arghh... I am frustrated. I just went out and bought this cool scale that measures your BMI, Water Weight, Muscle Mass etc. Wow, I was really unhappy when I saw the numbers. But knowing is half the battle, right? I hope that being armed with this info I will be able attain my goals. Feel free to message me if you'd like, I would love to hear evryone else's stories. Good luck!

I'm curious - what part of England are you from? I live in the States, but my family is from Jamaica and most of my relatives moved from the islands to England - Brixton, Birmingham, and Blackburn. My immediate family moved from Jamaica to Canada, and then we came to the U.S.

I have always enjoyed our family visits to the U.K.!

Welcome! The weight tracker is created by going to "My Sparkpage." If you click on "Edity My SparkPage," it will take you to a new screen, and if you scroll down the the page, you will see options for different "ticker icons" as well as weight trackers. There a box to check off if you would like it to appear in your email messages.

I'm not really new to SP - I joined a few years ago and did really great at first, then just let life get in the way and got way off track. I have since finished my doctorate degree, had a baby and moved across the country, and I'm ready to start again at getting in shape. I started a new profile so that I can start over with my points.

I just joined Spark yesterday. I saw a magazine article in the "Health" magazine and it mentioned this website! This is a great website! I started Weight Watchers in August 2007 (on my own, not going to the meetings) and have lost 50 pounds so far. I still have alot to to go but am hoping this website and spark team will keep me motivated.

Hello everyone! I'm Tonja and I just created this profile this week. I'm not entirely new to SparkPeople, but this is a new profile. I'm starting fresh and I'm going to get this weight off!

I'm a stay at home wife and mother, and a college student. I have one child, a little girl who is 4 going on 16 LOL I'm only taking a couple of classes right now, as it has been quite some time since I've been in school. Pretty stressful so far, but I'm getting through it. I've been married for 9 years to my wonderful husband, James. He is in the Marine Corps and we live in sunny, southern CA right now. Hoping to head back east soon, though.

I have about 57 lbs to get rid of. I just started this process (again!) on Monday, but I've done pretty well this week. Been drinking lots & lots of water, which is a huge change for me, but feels so good! I look forward to getting to know you all and going through this healthy journey together!

Hi, my name is Carolyn Roberts. I am 37 years old and married. I am currently finishing up a Masters degree and in September, I begin a PhD at Harvard.

Being a student again has been challenging, particularly in regards to my health. The amount of sitting, studying, reading, researching, late nights, and intense mental energy has led to an almost 30 pound weight gain in the past 3 years! Figuring out how to healthily balance my life has been difficult, and I am hoping that Spark People will aid that process!
