Hi my name is Kristen and I joined back in April... I lost 10 pounds and wasn't really logging anything because I was on vacation for three months visiting family in the states (air force wife, living in germany) So I am back on this site still pushing forward. I hope to lose and keep it all off for good.

HELLO!! I have joined SP in april and was told to join my "class" did not know where to find it, well..... now I have!! YEAH!! I am still learning this HOLE site, to me I am a little confused. emoticon To CHYCHY Hope you will introduce yourself and feel welcome to the group. Many of us will respond to you and try to help keep you motivated. SP has great motivation articles and we all have to do a lot of talking to our inner selves. Have you tried other programs? I have found SP much better than all those programs I have paid big bucks for. Learn to track every bite and see if that helps. It sure helps me. emoticon

Yes.. you're almost certainly not eating enough! Most everyone needs at least 1200 calories a day to meet their nutritional needs, not to mention caloric needs. You might have slowed or stalled your metabolism to the point where your body is hanging onto whatever it gets. Try eating the calorie range that SparkPeople recommends for your age, weight, and activity level... and be sure that you are getting enough protein, fat, whole grains, fruits and veggies, dairy, etc.

Hello,

My name is Lonna, I will say that I have had more success with this program than with any other. Believe me, I have tried them all. I do have a problem and am wondering if anyone else has the same one?

I am at a standstill with the weight loss. I get exercise when I can but I don't have much time. I know that sounds like an excuse but I have FIVE children from 9-14 years, they play ALL of the sports, academic team, etc. I am a nurse and manage a very busy OB/GYN practice. I work in some walks during practices and lunch breaks.

I am following my calorie counts very closely, most of the time consuming 1100 cal or less.

Advice?

Hi All,

My name is Pam. I am 41 and mom to two boys ages 21 and 4. I had the last one and put on some weight. Then I quit smoking and put on more weight. Putting on a steady extra pound or two a month since. This madness had to stop so here I am.

I want to be a healthy slimmer non-smoker. I want to see my kids married with kids. I want to be able to run around chasing grandkids and I want to walk through life with a spring in my step.

People lose weight at different rates. Some people lose slowly and steadily. Other people's bodies go into starvation mode and it takes some fine-tuning before the weight comes off. Then there are people like you, who lose like gangbusters early on and then slow down to a more 'normal' rate of weight loss.

After losing 15 pounds, the difference in calories between maintaining your weight and losing weight has shrunk. This has probably contributed to the slowdown. Continuing to exercise should speed the process, replace the fat with muscle, and tone your body up so it looks better in that swimsuit.

Hi, my name is Ashley. I am a mother of a four year old and wife to a wonderful husband! I work full time and just graduated with my masters! I begin my doctoral program in August. I used to be in shape up until I got pregnant with my daughter. I was on bed rest for three months at the last of my pregnancy, which I went from 110 to 198!!!! After I had her, I went back to about 120. However, due to my busy life, I currently weigh 150 and am beating myself up! I get motivated and then I fall off!!! So, it's nice to have everyone here!!!

Also, how do you add the counter/tracker and a "signature" to each posting? Thanks!!!!

Hi, I'm Christie and I'm 33-years-old. Just last year I was down to 118 with the help of Herbalife. But then I got sick and landed in the hospital for 3 weeks. While there they changed my medications around, fed me 3 square meals a day and snacks. I believe the food and my being sedentary, coupled with the medication caused me to balloon up to 150. My goal weight is 125, so I've got 25 lbs to lose. I've already lost 9 this past month. Now I'm ready for more progress to lighten my spirits.

Hi there! I joined SP originally a couple of years ago but never really used it until last month - I got serious on April 9th about making a lifestyle change and I've been going strong all month! I lost 12 pounds in the last month, but I have also noticed the initial weight loss is slowing down. I don't mind so much, as long as the scale keeps going down and not up. My birthday is in October, so I'm aiming to be at my first goal weight of 145 by then. My ultimate goal is around 125, as I'm about 5'3".

Hi everyone! I'm just getting around to introducing myself finally. I'm 35, married with 2 kids. I was a paramedic, but have put that on hold to raise the kids. I started on April 7, rocked out the 1st month losing 11 pounds! Am a bit frustrated now because the weight loss has slowed some. I eat around 1300 calories, strength train at home 3x a week and walk daily. I joined the Swimsuit bootcamp and do that in addition now. Anyone else seeing the same as they go along? I'm thinking maybe it will be a more steady and slow weight loss. Let me know how it is working for you all. Thanks and great to be here! emoticon emoticon

I'm actually sitting in between laundry and even more dishes that have to be put in the dishwasher to write this,but I do want to write this. emoticon

I am in my early 30's,married, a teacher (credentialed and everything but no classroom). I love cats,kids,BOOKS,reading,writing, crafts (esp. cross stitching,embroidery but am trying to learn the basics for jewelry making,knitting and crocheting). I love my husband and his wacky family,especially his two nephews and beautiful niece that I claim as my own..ha ha.I take care of my disabled mom and don't complain too much because she is healthier and stable and that is all that matters. I have two brothers,that despite their issues, I love unconditionally. And I'm on Sparkpeople in order to take control of my life and get to know "me" that is in there,somewhere. I know she exists,I just have to unafraid to say hello to her,and maybe someday,embrace her without fear.

Hi All. I'm finally getting around to introducing myself. I lost 20 lbs in 2006 and gained it all back by becoming lazy and eating whenever and whatever I wanted. It took me almost a year (and a Doctors visit) to realize that my weight (146lbs.) was not healthy for my height (51). Im here on SP to get back on track and become focused on getting fit and healthy so that I can keep up with my five-year old daughter. Well, now is the time and Im excited about shedding these extra lbs for good!! I'm ready to read about all your weight loss accomplishments and also ready to help encourage someone when needed. Hi Everyone:

My name is Rochelle and I live in Toronto, Ontario. I currently weigh 205 (at last weigh-in), have high blood pressure and am prediabetic so getting my weight in check is key for me. I am a mother of 3 with six grandchildren (two sets of twin boys from each of my daughters) - my son is so far childless. I am trying really hard to use the tracking system. I find them wonderful tools and the articles are great as well.

This is a great website - still have a lot to learn.

This was the first week of the little league season so I have been going non stop carting the kids to games and such. I have a large amount of weight to loose so this will be a long journey for me. Hello, I joined a few weeks ago and just found this page. I am 37, have 2 kids, am married, work full time and have gained about 80+ lbs since I met my husband 18 years ago. I have recently developed high blood pressure and I lost my dad a few years ago at the young age of 58. I have been inspired by my sister to start running and to use spark people to try to help me track calories. I have had many frustrating attempts with losing weight - or not losing weight in the past and plan to concentrate more on running than exact calories consumed. I tend to fluctuate 4-5 lbs in water weight within a very short time and have found weighing in very frustrating. My short term goal is to fit into a size 20 by 4th of July. Long term goal is to get off BP meds, not develop diabetes, and to get back under 200 lbs.

Hi, my name is Tammy Shannen. I'm 23 (I'll be 24 really soon though ^..^). emoticon So far, I love this site. I'm 280lbs right now and I want to eventually get back down to 140 - I was that small in highschool - I miss it...... Anyways, I'm working on overcoming the symptoms of Fibromyalgia, HEP-C, and knee problems - along with all the associated problems that I have with them.... But, this site has shown me how to motivate myself and I think this time I may be able to listen and use that advice & the wonderful trakers etc.... It's great to be part of such an awesome community too. I think that this sites combination 'therapy' as is were, is finally the right way for me to get healthy and loose weight..

Hi - I joined SparkPeople on April 7, but just found this site today. I seem to be doing fairly well - all of the recording, and suggested exercises, along with the various chats & even the fun of the SparkPoints - seems to be helping me to stay on my exercise program, and my eating (to a lesser extent!)

Let's see.... I'm 58, retired for close to four years (that's when I started packing on the pounds), live in Western Colorado, and I'm having my 25th wedding anniversary on June 4 - sure would like to look like I did on June 4, 1983!

Hi all! Joined on the 11th and have been looking around. I think to really succeed you have to have motivation and support. Can't get that from home or from work all the time. Hope this helps. I have lost 2 lbs since the 11th. I haven't really jumped up and down yet. Would like to lose another 2-3lbs by the 24th and then will feel I have accomplished something. I am 32 and have 2 wonderful kids and a great husband. I work 45+ hours a week and have a 2 hour commute. When I get home I do not have much time to exercise and would hate to get up at 4:00 to workout. This is my main problem. I know to lose and keep it off you have to workout and eat right. Something to work towards.

Hi everyone my name is Rosa. Im 24 and well not just had a baby. But he's 10 months old. After I left the hospital last June I weighed 205 pounds. Im down to 180 now. but its really hard and frustrating. Not only do I go to college part time (4 more classes to go) but I work full time and commute 2 hours from home to work everyday.. Its been such a struggle to stay up and try to get fit.. any suggestions?

Hi, I joined last week. I know what I need to do to get fit and lose weight, but I often fall off the wagon. I'm hoping SP can help me (and hubby) stay on track and make a real difference.

I have a number of goals:
* I want to be able to shop anywhere for clothes
* I want to be healthy
* I want my hubby to be healthy
* I want to run the 10K I have entered in July
rather than walk
* I want to do the London Marathon again and finish
while the roads are still closed

Hello everyone!
I joined last week. I am a SAHM of 2 school age kids. I am amazed at all the resources available through this site. I almost have to force myself to get off and do other stuff. Hi,

I just joined on the 12th but actually started tracking from the 11th on. I have lost 2 1/2 lbs. since my highest weight of 227. My goal weight is 170 lbs., which will put me under the BMI value of 24.9 which is the high end of the healthy range for men of my height (5'10"). I hope to reach this goal by my next birthday in March 2009.

Hi! I just found this team. I joined Spark Apr 6, started tracking Apr 7. I've lost 4 lb so far. I've had to eat in restaurents for 3 days of this past week as well, so I had to pay attention to going for healthier choices--no more fries! LOL! I've been hungry a lot, but managing to stick with it so far and I'm getting used to the reduced intake. There's a photo of myself that I keep thinking of, one in which I think I look really dumpy, so whenever I feel like I want to waver, I just think of that picture, and then think of a photo of myself that was taken when I was at my goal weight. I also remind myself of the fact that now that I'm in my 40's, the weight has been creeping up and up and up, and if I go back to doing what I had been doing, it'll only get worse and completely unmanageable. My body has changed, my metabolism has changed, and I need to change my behavior with it.
This is a cool idea, having a class of people who started at about the same time. I'm in the middle of making supper now, but I'm looking forward to coming back to this team page and reading more of the posts and writing more, too. :-)

Hi,

I joined yesterday and started tracking today.

It went pretty well.

We went out to a late breakfast, this morning. I had Oatmeal and Bacon, no toast, no butter, tea with a small amount of sugar, no Coffee with two creamers. He had the usual..

I felt good about it.

Dinner, was Lean pork with lots of celery, red pepper and onion stir fried in a small amount of olive oil, a little cornstarch and Soy sauce with a cup of brown rice...

Desert was two Dark Chocolate Doves. I had the calories left on my tracker.

My only short coming was, I haven't done well with the water. I will try harder. I know it is a must.

I plan to do the treadmill yet today. And, get some of the water in.

This site is a joy..... So positive.. So Clean and fresh....

I am in the gardening group, shutterbugs and 50+. I terrible enjoyed the pages. The photography was exciting and gave me a familiar feeling with the person on the page. I hope to get mine in shape also.

Hi all! I just joined last Wednesday or Thursday I think it was, so I'm a newcomer. I'm trying to lose weight to get my PCOS under control and so that I can be healthy when I get pregnant. My sister and I have been doing weight watchers since mid-Jan and i've lost 9.5 lbs. It's not as much as I wish I had, but I had to have surgery and went out of town to my in-laws.

Hi all - Joined last tuesday so I've been here nearly a week. I love this sight. It sure gives a lot of information and I've already met some great people. I have 50 pounds to lose and I'm a 52 year old menopausal woman, so I have my work cut out for me. I have a sedentary job and I work hard so I'm tire in the afternoon when I get home. I've been walking during my lunch break, but something is wrong with my left foot, so I have to be careful (finding out on 4/23 what's up with that!) I love to eat and cook and am really enjoying finding out where I stand on the nutritional scale and learning how to improve that!

I hope I'm doing this right. I'm new here just joined 3 days ago although I've been working at it since September. My mom fell ill and can no longer walk, it was a wake up call that I have children I need to be here for and I need to stop procrastinating about my own health and fitness so here I am. I've lost 38 so far but need to track better to see if I can make it happen just a bit faster. (Over 45 and yes, it does slow down to a crawl at best...so if you're under 45 do it now!!!) Glad to be here.

Hi! My name is Sheila, im 32 yrs old. Ive been on a few different "diets" which didnt work. one i found that worked had too much effort to stay on track with it so i eventually fell off the wagon so to speak. Then i stumbled upon SP by doing an internet search. Checked it out and said hey, this just might work and joined yesterday(4-11-08). My personal goal is to achieve 145 lbs. If i can get to my "ideal" weight of 125 thatd be even better, but i was 145 lbs before my 3rd child, i was healthy and looked great and felt great about myself so if i can get back to that ill be good to go!!

Hi, I'm new :) My name is Carolynn and I am 18. I quit cheerleading and dance this year (which was basically 10 hours of cardio AND strength training a week!) and did nothing for the past 11 months. I'm ready to get back in shape, and look good for summer!

I absolutely love sparkpeople! It gets me to stick to eating the right number of calories and drink my 8 cups of water a day.

Helloooo! I'm Scott and it's time to get back in shape! I've gained 20-30 lbs in 3 years due to poor excercise and fast food diets :)

I expect to be 20lbs lighter in 2 months maximum. I'll be doing cardio on my home elliptical machine and good ole pushups. I'm using Lean Cuisine to monitor my calories.

20lbs should put me back in the healthy range and I knowwwww I'll feel much better. Lets hope I have the willpower to workout after a long day at the job.

Hello! My name is Amanda and I am on my way to achieving a healthy weight! I (very) recently starting running on a regular basis, and my current goal is to run 15 miles a week.

I love cooking and baking, and I'm slowly learning to make delicious, healthy dishes and treats, although I still indulge in a cupcake every once in a while!

I was a vegetarian when I was younger, and I still tend to gravitate towards meat-free dishes. Eventually I would like to adapt a vegan lifestyle, although at the moment I still eat eggs, dairy, and the occasional chicken or fish.

I'm generally friendly, and I love to meet new people! :)
