I like it, but there hasn't been much to notice

Changing my diet

How good I've become at yoga.

Ben and Jerry's Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream

Spinach

Both

Hopefully by going to DisneyWorld

Yoga

Hi! My name is Edie. I live in Arbon Valley near Malad in summer and Mesquite, Nevada in Winter. I am 70 yrs old next Saturday.
I try to keep my weight down because dh has to lift me at times and he has had back surgery.
I have been on sp for a couple of years but was not previously aware of this team.
My weight losses are so gradual that no one notices.
I would like to learn more about you all!

1. What made you decide to improve your health and lose weight? Afraid of getting diabetes because I'm insulin resistant.

2. How did you find SP? Recommended by doctor's office.

3. Do you like when people notice that you've lost weight, or do you feel self-conscious? I LOVE it!

4. What lifestyle change has been the most difficult for you so far? Embarrassment to exercise in public.

5. What has been the most pleasant surprise so far? I'm losing one of my chins.

6. What food do you wish you could eat all of the time instead of it being a once-in-awhile treat? Cashews

7. What is your favorite healthy food? Oatmeal

8. Do you set small goals or one final goal? Both as well as rewards along the way.

9. How do you plan to celebrate reaching your goal weight? Each ten pounds lost, I get exercise incentive stuff.

10. What is your favorite form of exercise? Walking

11. What are some of your other favorite activities? Swimming but I can't get into my bathing suit yet.

12. Are your family and friends supporting you or making it difficult? Both. DH is impatient and makes snide remarks and some people are just nosy. My daughter always says the right things and is very supportive.

1. What made you decide to improve your health and lose weight? My family has a long list of ailments that I'm trying to avoid in the future

2. How did you find SP? I believe i searched google for recipies

3. Do you like when people notice that you've lost weight, or do you feel self-conscious? a little of both, I like that I've lost enough weight that others have noticed but at the same time it makes me realize that people pay more attention than i thought

4. What lifestyle change has been the most difficult for you so far? late night snacking

5. What has been the most pleasant surprise so far?
How much energy I have
6. What food do you wish you could eat all of the time instead of it being a once-in-awhile treat? anything deep-fried

7. What is your favorite healthy food? any fruit

9. How do you plan to celebrate reaching your goal weight? Get a new tattoo

10. What is your favorite form of exercise? Walking or dancing with my boy

cooking, reading, taking pictures

They all support me but they also cook amazingly yummy food that I cant turn down so it is a little difficult

Hi all - here are my replies:

1. What made you decide to improve your health and lose weight?
I'm always trying something to lose weight, but none ever really work or keep my focus long enough. I need to change now while I still can for my kids and to be here for their kids.

2. How did you find SP?
My friend who struggles like me sent me the link and I joined immediately. I have used myfooddiary.com before, but I like Spark much better - and it's free!

3. Do you like when people notice that you've lost weight, or do you feel self-conscious?
I do like it and I'm waiting for that first compliment to come. I've lost 13lbs over the last 3 months and no one has seemed to notice, but I do have 50 more to go...so they will start to notice soon.

4. What lifestyle change has been the most difficult for you so far?
Logging my food - I positively hate to do it but I know it's part of the key to success. Being aware of the calories you are eating is really important.

5. What has been the most pleasant surprise so far?
How easy Spark is, how many resources are available and how suppportive the other members are for each other.
6. What food do you wish you could eat all of the time instead of it being a once-in-awhile treat?
Hot fudge brownies with ice cream, garlic mashed potatoes
7. What is your favorite healthy food?
Not sure I have found one yet....looking for suggestions

8. Do you set small goals or one final goal?
This time around I am setting small goals. Starting off daily, then move to weekly, monthly...etc. My first and main goal is not to actually lose weight, but just to change my habits - logging my food no matter what it is that I eat.

9. How do you plan to celebrate reaching your goal weight?
girls weekend in Vegas

10. What is your favorite form of exercise?
Hiking, biking, anything outdoors and with others

11. What are some of your other favorite activities?
yoga, soccer, swimming, sleeping, playing on the computer until wee hours in the morning
12. Are your family and friends supporting you or making it difficult?
My family is very supportive I even got my mom to join too. I haven't told too many friends because I don't want them to see this as another failed attempt. I'd rather this time they just start to see the results!

1. What made you decide to improve your health and lose weight?
To have more energy to keep up with my 2 little kids. Just wanting to be able to be more active.

2. How did you find SP?
In a magazine article

3. Do you like when people notice that you've lost weight, or do you feel self-conscious?
I love it because it just gives me that much more motivation to keep going.

4. What lifestyle change has been the most difficult for you so far?
Incorperating more veggies, my hubby is allergic to a lot of them so some days I have to make two seperate meals or tottaly alternate the recipe.

5. What has been the most pleasant surprise so far?
The last time we went to the Chiropractor and when he walked in he said, man you've lost weight since I saw you. Plus I also have become more active with the kids and every once in a while they ask if they can go back in and rest.

6. What food do you wish you could eat all of the time instead of it being a once-in-awhile treat?
Chocolate and even though it's not a food, Diet Pepsi

7. What is your favorite healthy food?
Any type of fresh fruit

8. Do you set small goals or one final goal?
Small goals

9. How do you plan to celebrate reaching your goal weight?
Hopefully finding a baby sitter to take the kids over night and have a nice romantic get away with the hubby

10. What is your favorite form of exercise?
I really like Tae Bo

11. What are some of your other favorite activities?
Riding bikes with the kids. My daughter loves it when we go to Lewiston and ride or even walk around the levi.

12. Are your family and friends supporting you or making it difficult?
I'm doing this with my best friend so she is really supportive. Hubby, I think it depends on the moment. He loves to provide lots of temptation for me.

1. What made you decide to improve your health and lose weight? I've always tried to be aware of my body and treat it well. I also want to set a good example for my kids. My immediate motivation is working in a gym and wanting to live what I preach!

2. How did you find SP? Looking for a calorie counter online.

3. Do you like when people notice that you've lost weight, or do you feel self-conscious? Love it! Especially when I haven't lost anything!

4. What lifestyle change has been the most difficult for you so far? Counting claories - it's time consuming and often upsetting. Some things add up fast!

5. What has been the most pleasant surprise so far? That it works. When I eat right - I lose weight.

6. What food do you wish you could eat all of the time instead of it being a once-in-awhile treat? Muffins, bagels, crackers...basically empty carbs.

7. What is your favorite healthy food? Vanilla yogurt with 1/2 cup fresh fruit.

8. Do you set small goals or one final goal? Both. Mostly I just want to get through today.

9. How do you plan to celebrate reaching your goal weight? I can't decide - it will be a lifelong struggle to maintain. Not a one time reward.

10. What is your favorite form of exercise? Group exercise (Turbo Kick)

11. What are some of your other favorite activities? Reading, camping, wathcing movies.

12. Are your family and friends supporting you or making it difficult? I try not include too many people in my efforts (Don't want my girls to think they need to diet, DH doesn't care if I diet or pig out -he loves either way.)

1. What made you decide to improve your health and lose weight? My Employers began an Employee Wellness challenge as of Jan 1 2008 and I decided to join.

2. How did you find SP? Someone at the Hosp. sent a link to me and I checked it out...have been here ever since.

3. Do you like when people notice that you've lost weight, or do you feel self-conscious?
I like it....helps me know I am making headway!

Not much I can not eat on SP.

7. What is your favorite healthy food discovery? Chocolate Peanut Butter Cottage Cheese, if you haven't tried it you best do so!

I have a final goal but I set every ten pound
as a small goal....each time I go from say 260 into the 250 for instance that is a new goal for me.

9. How do you plan to celebrate reaching your goal weigt? New Clothes and 1 (only 1) Cream Horn!

10. What is your favorite form of exercise? Walking

11. What are some of your other favorite activities?Quilting, Crocheting and Beading.

12. Are your family and friends supporting you or making it difficult? My Daughters are but they both live a way off. DH would rather I did not do this at all.

1. What made you decide to improve your health and lose weight?
Basically my health. I have been trying since I was 12 off and on but when I discovered how to treat one of my conditions I started losing 10 pounds a month.


2. How did you find SP?
A trainer named Diane at the YMCA told me about it.

3. Do you like when people notice that you've lost weight, or do you feel self-conscious?
Both. I love the attention but then have also always tried to stay out of the lime-light.

4. What lifestyle change has been the most difficult for you so far?
Not being able to eat my favorite foods.

5. What has been the most pleasant surprises so far?
Watching my clothes get huge. Finding out that ai can see my bones and veins now.

6. What food do you wish you could eat all of the time instead of it being a once-in-awhile treat?
Most of them, but what I miss the most is anything with milk in it.

7. What is your favorite healthy food?
Brocolli, I guess.

8. Do you set small goals or one final goal?
Both. I keep my eye on the major goal but I do it in small goals.

9. How do you plan to celebrate reaching your goal weight?
My best friend wants to have a party and go shopping. That sounds good to me.

Water aerobics. I t is the only exercise I can do.

I used to love to walk. But my doctor has limited me to the water aerobics.

My friends are.

1. What made you decide to improve your health and lose weight? I want to be here to spend time with my family. I want to be able to go out and play with the kids and not be out of breath.

2. How did you find SP? Woman's World Magazine

3. Do you like when people notice that you've lost weight, or do you feel self-conscious? It is sometimes hard to hear...when I look in the mirror I usually only see the fat person looking back at me.

4. What lifestyle change has been the most difficult for you so far? Making the time to exercise.

5. What has been the most pleasant surprise so far?
Having support from people who don't know me but care enough to give me support when I need it.

6. What food do you wish you could eat all of the time instead of it being a once-in-awhile treat?
Ice cream

7. What is your favorite healthy food discovery? grilled chicken & salad

I have to set one goal at a time.

9. How do you plan to celebrate reaching your goal weight? I will throw out all of the clothes that don't fit & buy new clothes.

11. What are some of your other favorite activities?camping...I enjoy hiking in the woods. It is so peaceful.

12. Are your family and friends supporting you or making it difficult? I'm the only one in the family that battles with weight so they don't know what it is like to have a weight issues but they are supportive in my struggles to become healthier.
