Welcome back Diana! We are all in this together! I did loose last year but I'm not where I want to be at all. I'm trying to get back into exercise, I think that is my main problem. Been weird not having my computer the last couple of days. We have set Kevin's up in my room for the time being until I decide just what I'm going to do. I did make some good progress yesterday working on priorities -- clearing up things in the craft room.

Hi All,

My year was not successful overall. I lost weight, which I gained back. I have no good plan for maintenance, but here I am back for more emoticon . I'm down about five pounds now and hope to put more effort into this year. REYNJANET, I loved your lesson on one word and am going to do this. Best wishes to all.

Blessings, Diana

I think sorting out the foods that actually are making us sick on the inside is a huge task. I've been doing it for years and it's a very slow process... I'm waiting to see a community dietitian to see if she has some ideas too that I haven't explored.

I'm not convinced that it isn't just another fad. Still reading about it and checking it out. I have a friend who has taken probiotics for a couple of years not and is even eating foods to help and she is having a horrible time now with lower areas problems. I just wonder? I'm going to talk to doctor about it at my next visit.

Hum...we never have leftovers in our house. I only cook sufficient to be eaten for the meal.

Michelle I think I'm fairly limited because of being a pescatarian. I do eat a lot of soya products though. I tried using coconut flour to see if it agreed with me and made small pancakes. Have now had those for breakfast every day since 18th Dec...yeah, I'm stuck!! lol.

Janet...I'm very yeast sensitive and it can cause my candida to flare up. That's one of the reasons I avoid bread etc. I think there are a lot of views about probiotics. Some people say it's a $$$ scheme...?

Michelle, I love your word trust!

I like left overs too. Kevin doesn't but I find just cooking for two isn't always easy and I'm not going to waste good food so sometimes it is leftovers for him, LOL

I came across an article and video last night about gut yeast and probotics. Going to research it a little further. Don't really know how I feel about it yet or if I'm ready to try the probotics

JanetR - I really like hearing what other people choose and how it helps them through the year! Priorities! I chose a word for last year for the first time - THRIVE. I found that having that word as an anchor or a touchstone was very powerful. This year, my word is TRUST.

JanetE - I think I do that, too, with the limited food list. But I also like to try new things and new recipes. I guess the key is seeing which of those new things works with my already-existing repertoire. I'm really pretty boring most of the time - I can eat the same thing every day for a week with no problem! My dad was spoiled by my mom - he didn't like leftovers. Me, I LIVE on leftovers!

Blessings, Michelle

Ha ha Janet...I snore at any weight!! lol.

I like that word Priorities...sometimes I think it's appropriate that we head that list. All too often we forget our own needs...and I don't mean that in a selfish way...

I've been working hard getting back 100% on plan...not easy after all the goodies and festivities. I think I have quite a long break now before anything else come my way.

I find the same thing Janet, when I put on extra pounds my knees suffer plus I've been informed that I snore! LOL. Yesterday though my knees hurt on the stairs and when I got home I realized that I hadn't taken my meds for the day, DUH!

Our Sunday School lesson was so good yesterday on One Word that will change your life.
this is a process where you find the one word that you need to help you in your life and use it as a word for the year. You go through 3 steps -- first Unplug from everything around you where you can meditate and explore your life (Look in) Next you pray and ask God what is it you need in your life, what is your word, (Look Up) The word can be an impression, a song, something you read, you may dream the word, someway God will help you discover what is that one word you need. Then you put that word in action (Look Out). print the word on on cards and place in places to remind you, make a poster, there are all kinds of ways that you can remind yourself of your word. Now work on that word for the rest of the year.. Come 2017 you find a new word. This has been life changing for people who has tried it.

My word for this year is PRIORITIES. I need to find the priorities in my health, eating, daily life, spiritual life, friends, family - my life! www.getoneword.com

I think one of the things I've learned about being at goal weight for a couple of years is that I have a core list of foods that I eat. I don't actually stray far from that list either and if I do...up go the scales...

For me one of the main reasons for keeping a tight reign on weight is 'mobility'!! I never want to get to the place that parts of me are hurting because of carry excess pounds around.
Not forgetting the connection between heart & diabetes issues too.

Getting ourselves healthy for our grands is an excellent idea! Congrats Barbara. I like shopping for clothes in my own closet too Michelle. Janet you have done a great job this year staying in range! I think one secret is not just focusing on weight loss but on getting healthy, I'm trying to build "habits" that I can stick with! Sometimes when I focus on dieting I find it hard to maintain when I reach a goal point.

I'm working on taking more time for me too! I have this problem of wanting to please everyone and I get lost in the process. Then it become expected for me to do and I get to feeling pressure and taken advantage of. I'm trying to learn to let others do for themselves. This hasn't be easy for the ones who have just taken it for granted that I'll do it all. Hitting quite a bit of opposition but I'm trying to stand firm!

I so appreciate the support of this group!!!

Seems like we're all hitting the weight topic as a 'want' for 2016...

Janet you look tremendous...well done and I know you will get to where you want to be to maintain.

Barbara...you've got there before so you'll do it again. A birthday is a good goal to reach out for.

Michelle...I love the way you follow the SP challenges and make your progress that way. I'm too lazy! lol

I'm doing my best to get back to normalise my eating after the goodies around. My meals have been alright but too much snacking in between!! Today hasn't been perfect but better...

It's been an up and down year for me, too. I've gotten stuck on some of my goals. My apartment is still in serious need of some renovation and I need to get some better routines in place to keep the clutter down and get my housework done on a regular basis. Working at the Bible school has really put demands on my time that I didn't really foresee. I love it, though!

Weight is down a total of 13 pounds since the beginning of the year. It was lower but then holiday eating took its toll. I finally made it back to the gym this past fall! That was a major accomplishment. I'm still not able to go as often as I'd like but I'm working on it. And I've been able to shop in my own closet for some clothes.

Some goals and plans: I started a new devotional today (Jesus Calling - gift from a friend) I'm doing a restart of the 100 Days of Weight Loss. The 5% challenge here on Spark starts tomorrow and the BLC starts again soon, too. I plan to blog at least once a week, so I'll be posting more about goals and stuff there.

Awesome progress, JanetR! Exciting news, Barbara! JanetE, praying that 2016 treats you better - but still the house sale is a big reason for rejoicing!

When I first started thinking about my progress in 2015 I didn't think I had accomplished I didn't think I had really changed that much but then I found these pictures a realized I had lost 30+ pounds this year and I'm a lot healthier than I was this time last year! Also at the beginning of the year I didn't know what the future held for Kevin but God answered prayers and he has improved greatly in the last year!

I too have written out my goals for 2016. I want to continue with the Ultimate Challenge and blogging. I aim to get to 160 and maintain, maybe then set my goal lower. I want to find a place where I can maintain and be comfortable and healthy, don't constantly struggle to maintain.

Here is a good article Sparks had today. www.sparkpeople.com/resource/motivat

THe best thing that happened was for our daughter and her hubby...a grandson is due mid June!!

My weight however, went up and down and is now up, and I am determined to see that number come down! I've got my focus and my goals written! Most of this starts in our minds, I think, anyway. If you can keep a focus going and be determined and TALK OUT LOUD only positive words, move more, sit less...I will achieve this goal to lose 25 pounds! I am giving myself over five months to accomplish this...my birthday, May 13!! I going to visualilze the NEW ME and how I will feel and look!!

Let's cheer each other on!! WE CAN DO IT!!

Barbara .....that's what my friends call me! Never cared for the name Barb.

Make it a blessed and healthy day! IT IS YOUR CHOICE!

Remember how special you are and how you are soooooo worth it to be healthy and fit!!

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the assurance of things unseen. Hebrews 11:1

Looking back 2015 wasn't our finest, what with my broken ankle ( a year ago today!), 2 bouts of pneumonia and then the car accident BUT the Lord did find the buyer for our house so we are leaving 2015 with a high hand!! And Joseph is improving so Hallelujah!!

A personal success for me was staying in my target range weight for 2 years now....it does take work but feels very worthwhile.

It's that time of the year when we look back at what we accomplished and what we didn't. Then we make plans for the coming year. During this month let's share with each other our successes (or not -- no failures, we just didn't succeed!) Then let's share our goals and plans for the coming year. Then keep track of how we are doing.

Remember we are in this together and we support one another. Let's help each other come closer to our goals.

Here's to a great 2016!
